Our Mansfield Thiots
What a fun afternoon we, Grandpa and I, had in Mansfield this past Tuesday.  We drove over and got caught by a car fire and got to spend some quality time on the George Bush Tollway, but made it just in time to pick up two little dinos as they call them at Martha Reid Elementary.  There is nothing better than catching their eyes as they come out of the school building and having them run over to me. Grandpa Great and I both LOVED the hugs and kisses.  We read the book The Little Red Hen when we got home and ground some wheat into flour and made bread.  It was DELICIOUS!  What good little helpers I had, nothing like those characters in the story, everyone wanted to help and everyone got their very own loaf of bread.  Thank you Becky for letting us make a mess in your beautiful kitchen.  Grandpa Great promised the girls if they would eat all of their dinner, he would make them one of his famous Milkshakes.  He did not disappoint,  YUMMY!

Our Charlottesville Granges
Early Saturday morning, Jake and Tatia were woken up by the sad sounds of Maxwell throwing up in his crib.  A stomach bug moved in and has left all in their home on Williamsburg Road feeling queasy and yucky.  Everyone was assigned their very own special bowl to keep handy during the day.  Jake was on call and had to be at the hospital so Tatia did a good job of cleanups and loving service while feeling badly herself. I was so wishing I could make them a pot of Chicken soup and take over and then I remembered cousin Pammy telling me that Jason's deli would deliver and Tatia has one five minutes from her house.  It was so nice to be able to have chicken soup delivered to them.   I'm praying that after some chicken soup a good nights sleep, everyone is feeling better this morning.  On a brighter note, Miss Penny interviewed for Preschool on Friday.  Yes you read that correctly.  It's pretty tricky to get into preschool in Charlottesville and they only accept those who they think will excell in their program.  I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall and watched Miss Penny.  I think any preschool in the nation would love to have her join them.

Our Carmichael Thiots
When Charlie Thiot was born back in 1982, I knew from the get go that we had a special spirit from our Heavenly Father.  What I didn't know was how very right I was.  Charlie and my dad were best friends when Char was a little tiny boy and something wonderful happened, lots of my dad has rubbed off onto Charlie, which is a very good thing.  They are neither one afraid of tackling any project, big or small.  With the recent closing of the Carmichael Thiots new home, there have been many project that he and Mackenzie have wanted to complete prior to moving in.  One was the ceilings, and another refinishing the hard wood floors and another remodeling the bathroom with the baby blue fixtures.  I am totally impressed and amazed with all that has been accomplished in the past week.  Thank for Char for sending photos.  It's been so great to watch this miracle take place.  I have a feeling Mackenzie, Keelie and Callum have been wonderful workers too.  Keep those photos coming! This is one of my favorites.  Charlie having a tubby in his clothes in the garage in the blue tub that is no longer in the bathroom.  :)
Our L.A. Thiots
This has been an incredibly busy and difficult week for Pierce and Stacy.  Maybe the incredibly busy part made the difficult part a little easier to bear.  Pierce's best buddy Anthony passed away early Tuesday morning and returned to his Heavenly Father.  We have all been so sad but also so glad to know Anthony.  I truly believe that Pierce was called to the Missouri St. Louis Mission to meet Anthony and to have him be such a profound influence on his life and in turn, all of our lives.  Stacy, Pierce and Adelaide flew in early Friday and Sky went early Saturday.  Dick was so sad that he had already had a business trip to San Fran that he could not get out of.  We all wanted to be there to support Pierce and Anthony's family.  Sweet Stacy was able to tape Pierce's talk and Grandpa and I loved listening to it last night.  Thanks Stacy!  I wanted to share with you what Pierce wrote about Anthony.
W Anthony Leggett is one of my best friends, and is the best influence I could have asked for in my life.
I don't say that lightly because I have great parents, great family, great friends, and a great wife.
But Anthony is incredibly special. Few people have the power just by their mere presence to make you want to be a better person. I'm not an eloquent person, but man, Anthony is as good of a human being as they can be. And it's not like he was just born that way. No, he worked hard to be that way. He knew exactly what kind of person he wanted to be, he knew what it would take to be that kind of person, and he strove every day to be that person.
Anthony passed away within the last couple hours.
And this wonderful quote from Stuart Scott has stuck with me and resonantes more and more. I imagine people all over who have gone through what Stuart and Anthony have gone through can relate to this quote
"When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live. So live."
And while doctors, scientists, and people far smarter than me search for a cure for cancer, I think every single one of us can beat cancer by the way we live all our lives; honoring the lives of our friends who have passed by living a life like Anthony.
And again, Cecilia, thank you for sharing this experience so openly. Your example, your story, and your actions are powerful beyond words.
I've been lucky to have had Anthony as such a close friend. I don't know why I was lucky enough to be so close to him, but I count it as one of life's true blessings.
Our Dallas Thiots
What a blessing Anthony has been to the Thiot Family.  He has made us all see what is truly important in life.  Skyler, like Pierce just loves him.  I was so grateful that Kara's sweet aunt could share her buddy pass with Sky and that he could be there too.  It's kind of hard for this mom who has always thought of Pierce and Sky as my "little" boys to realize how truly grown up they are.  So glad for a good man who has had a BIG influence on my "little" boys who have both grown into amazing men.  Grandpa and I got to have lunch with Skyler after the temple on Friday.  We had brought sack lunches for us and we got to eat in his conference room at his office.  WOWSERS!  It was wonderful to meet his boss and co workers who all think a lot of our Sky.  Me Too!!!
We Plano Thiots
What a week it has been in Plano, Texas.  It's been great having my dad here with us and we have packed a lot into this week.  I'm so glad that he still has one more week.  I'm afraid it is going to go by too fast, We are going to enjoy every minute.
Monday:  Institute Class. Dad loved learning more about Elijah and Elisha from Brother Kevin Hinckley, our wonderful Institute Teacher.  We also went to see Annie that evening with Dick and enjoyed Arby's fish sandwiches.  YUMMY
Tuesday: Dad was my hero and fixed a clogged drain in my upstairs sink.  He was right in my sewing room while I worked on a special project.  We drove to Mansfield after lunch and loved spending the afternoon with our little Brooklyn, Addison and Harper, and their parents too.
Wednesday: Dad came to my writing class with me and we had a good time sharing stories and getting ideas on more to come.  Everyone loved Dad in my class, We had El Fenix for enchilada night.  YUMMY!

Thursday: We worked on a fun idea we had of recording dad's cars that he has owned. (Pictured are the first seven.)  We found pictures of similar cars on Google Images and I LOVED hearing all the stories associated with each of them.  Oh what a tell cars tell.  Thursday afternoon we went to my shift at the Family History Center and found the name of a little two year old boy who needed to be sealed to his parents.  We were able to print off the sheet and take it with us. While I attended Family History Consultant training in the evening, Dad and Dick moved a queen sized bed to our friend Laura's house who is having her daughter and son in law move close by for a few months.  Yipee  We love family close.
Friday: Dick left early Friday morning for a six am flight to San Francisco for an auto show there.  He and his partner Ross are hoping to make some connections to sell their soft ware they have been developing.  Good Luck! Dad and I went to the temple.  My shift coordinator let us come a little later than usual and dad and I got to go on the 10 session. Dad as a patron and I as the first follower.  It was a very sweet couple of hours.  Afterwards, we were able to have that little boy sealed to his parents.  Dad acted as two year old Edson Whipple and I got to be his sweet mom and another brother was proxy for his dad.  It was a very tender and sweet experience to do that with  my dad.  I loved it. When we got home from the Temple, I took Rocky to the vet. He has had as sore on his let that he won't quit licking.  He is now the proud owner of antibiotics and he gets to wear a lamp shade looking thing for a few days until it heals up.  Poor Poor Rocky.
Saturday morning I had to attend the Carriage Hills Home Owners Association Board Meeting. I am acting as Membership Chairman and need to get my fanny in gear and start doing a better job.  Dad took Rocky for a walk while I was gone and Rocky tried to take off after a pick up truck.  Luckily dad saved him. Dad fixed my ice maker in my fridge.  It's been playing the fool for a while and I keep asking Dick to fix it.  He tells me that he is NOT my dad and doesn't know how to fix ice makers.  It's great having Dad here, who knows how to fix EVERYTHING.  Thanks dad! Dad made us delicious BLT's for dinner and we got to listen to Pierce's talk at Anthony's funeral.  We also listened to Mom and Dad's missionary homecoming talk on the cassette tape I found a while ago. Unfortunately, dad couldn't understand it very well. There was lots of back ground noise and it made it hard to for him.  I loved hearing it again.
Now it's Sunday morning and the sun is just coming up.  I Love Sundays and especially with our later church starting time.  I hope you have had a nice week.  I'm thinking about you and I love you.  SLY Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiots
This was a double lucky week for me and our Mansfield Thiots.  I got to go with Becky to pick up the girls at school on Tuesday and help Miss Addison with her Snowman building Project and we had a great time.  Then on Thursday evening, Ricky's work had their belated Christmas Party at Sweet Basil.  I got to meet up in the parking lot and take three little ladies to dinner at the lovely McDonalds who happened to share a parking lot with Sweet Basil.  Oh my goodness, what a lucky grammy I am to get to dine with 3 of my sweet little granddaughters.  On the drive home we invented a new came and it may soon become a favorite of ours.  We played, Ask me a Question.  We all thought of questions that we wanted to know about to Brooklyn who will soon turn eight years old.  It was so fun to listen to her thoughtful answers and we loved taking turns asking her interesting things.  Oh how I enjoyed being with them.  We had to go right to bed as soon as we got home, so only time for one story, but it was so great.
Our Charlottesville Granges
This week Charlottesville was clothes in a soft white coat one morning.  Penny said her "SNOW DREAM CAME TRUE"  She has been wishing for snow to make her first snow angel of the year.  It was only a skiff of white but it was enough for her to lay on the cold side walk and wave her wings into a beautiful angel.  Maxwell LOVED being out in the snow too and refused to wear his new mittens.  I hope he figures out soon that mittens can be a boys best friend in keeping his sweet hands warmer,  Today in primary, Miss Penny will be giving the first article of faith for the scripture of the month.  Tatia said she really wants to do it all by herself.  Oh how I wish I could be there to watch her.  We are hoping to face time this morning and let her do it for us to practice.  I can't wait.  Tatia has been working on some fun sewing projects.  Brooklyn, I hope you aren't reading this,  she made the cutest little white "Baptism" kitty for Brooklyn.  While sewing it, she was doing such a Purrrfect job until she Sewed her finger with her sewing machine.  The needle shattered and she's so lucky to live with her favorite doctor who removed the last piece of needle.  She will hopefully soon be as good as new.

Our Carmichael Thiots
Charlie and Mackenzie had their American Dream come true this week.  They are now the proud owner of a mortgage with a darling home awaiting a bit of work and then a move in by the end of the month.  They got started having a Popcorn Removal Party to begin the fun.  Charlie has always been a great worker man and with Mackenzie's great dreams, and Keelie and Callum as assistants, they are in for a few fun weeks.  Oh how I wish we were closer to be helpers too.  Callum had a fun birthday on Thursday and got to go to In and Out Burgers for dinner.  His very most favorite spot.  What a perfect California kid he is.

Our L.A.. Thiots
Pierce had a busy week traveling to Buenos Aires, Argentina working on a project for Gatorade.Since he was going to be gone all week Stacy got to have not just a "Girl's Night" but a Girl's Week with her mom coming in to spend time with Stacy and Adelaide.  Pierce reports that the shopkeepers in L.A. are happy when those girls get together and Adelaide has several new swimsuits.  We are hoping for some photos modeling the new swim wardrobe real soon.  I can report that Pierce traveled all of Friday night and made it back to L.A. and enjoyed some time with his girls before heading off to try to get a full nights sleep on Saturday night. On a much sadder note,  Pierce's best buddy Anthony, pictured above, was diagnosed with Cancer about a year and a half ago and has been fighting and taking every treatment possible.  This week the doctors told him they had done all they could and that it was nearing time for him to return to our Heavenly Father.  What a hard thing it is to let someone go.  He and his sweet wife have been married four years this week and she is so amazing at looking for any bright spots in life she can find.  Please join with us in keeping him in your prayers.

Our Dallas Thiots
Skyler had an extra busy week at work but he and Kara squooze in some movie time.  There two week trial passes came and they put them to use and saw 4 movies this week.  Not bad. I got to have lunch with Sky on Friday after the temple and I loved catching up with him.  I loved serving in the temple with Kara on Saturday morning.  She is amazing and so young and capable.  All of us old gals just love and admire her energy and smarts.

We Plano Thiots
Dick spent the week in SLC working and then when he came home on friday night he brought my dad home with him.  Now if that wasn't exciting enough, look in the top picture who sat right in front of them on the flight, Yep, it's the BYU football coach.  I'm not sure there is another celebrity that would have  made both Dick and Dad as happy as Coach Bronco did.  They had a fun visit and he was coming on a recruiting trip. Dick invited him to dinner but unfortunately,  his time was very well planned and no time for us.  uggggg.  Saturday Dad and Dick met up with Sky and Kara and headed to the Presidential Library for George Bush.  Dick has been wanting to since they opened and this seemed like the perfect occasion to go.  They all four had a really nice time
I Loved this photo of Dad sitting at the Presidential desk in the oval office.  We are looking forward to the next 14 days with him here with us.
My writing workshop class started again this past Wednesday.  It was sure fun to be there with those fun people again.  I am looking forward to getting back into writing some fun things.  Maybe one of my top things that happened this week was when the mailman dropped off two packages.  I had the last four years of the Thiot Times printed and bound into books.  I have loved looking at them and remembering all the things that have happened during that time.  I'm so grateful to have recorded those as my mind sure doesn't remember them all.  Photos are such a wonderful thing.  I love that I've got those.
I better go get busy and get ready for church.  Have a great Sabbath ya'll.  SLY Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiots
Friday evening we had a fun visit from our Mansfield Thiots.  It was the first time we had seen them since they arrived home from their Christmas Vacation.  It was soooooooooo good to see them all and we loved our visit.  They actually arrived, when I was on a visit to Cousin Pammy and her sweet boys.  What a delight it was to walk into my house and hear it filled with little girls happy voices and have a warm fire burning in the fireplace.  Ricky is one good fire building eagle scout. Pammy had made us some Winter Chile Soup and we all loved it.  We sure enjoyed reading the first few chapters of a book about Baptism that we had read with Ricky when he prepared to be baptized.  I loved taking turns reading and having our sweet Brooklyn read too. It was so fun to give Ricky a lesson on making cinnamon rolls and boy did he do good.  We loved baking out tray on Saturday morning.  Yummy!

Tatia got a text from a friend who was visiting a Deseret Book store in Salt Lake and saw this new painting there.  She was amazed how much it looks like our Penny. I agree! Maybe my favorite part of serving in the Family History Center this week was about 3:00 when my phone rang and it said that someone wanted to face time with me.  I stepped out into the hallway and had a very fun visit with Tatia, Max and Miss Penny.  She had gotten a package in the mail and wanted to open it with me.  What fun that was.  Tatia was hosting the missionaries for dinner and was making rolls to go with here yummy soup she had made.  I told her what my mom always called her yummy crescent rolls.  Flintstone Telephones is the name she gave them.  They looked just like those funny puffy phones that flintstone family talked on.  Tatia said they called them that and they all loved that name, even the elders.

and the 2nd top tooth is out!  Cute Smile!

I'm almost 4!!!

I had a fun phone call from Charlie early in the week with a fun surprise he was hoping to make happen.  I've been smiling all week thinking about it, but then on Saturday we found out it wouldn't be able to happen.  I was disappointed but it was sure fun just thinking about it during the week. Thanks for even considering it and hopefully we can do it sometime soon. We got to visit with Keelie and Callum who were out bike riding on Saturday.  Callum has a balance bike and is amazing at riding it.  He loves it and Keelie is a great bike rider too.  We had a fun visit and we are getting excited for this coming Thursday when our Callum Jay will celebrate his 4th birthday!  Happy Birthday Callum Jay!
Stacy, Adelaide and Pierce at Out Back with Lani and Grandpa last week
Our LA Thiots
This has been a crazy week for Pierce and his family.  He got word earlier in the week that he needed to make a trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina and would be leaving on Friday afternoon.  His flight was to go by way of Miami and then on to Argentina.  The only trouble was  that the plane did not pass inspection so the flight was cancelled and he was rescheduled for a flight the next day at noon.  It's not that fun to spend the night in an airport.  I'm sure Stacy and Adelaide were glad they weren't with him and were home snug in their beds.  I'm glad to report Dick heard late Saturday night that Pierce had arrived in Buenos Aires.  Have a great week PJ!  What a great opportunity.
love me some Taco Bueno
Our Dallas Thiots
Friday after my shift at the temple, I picked up Skyler at work and we shared a tasty lunch at the Taco Bueno close to his office.  It was forty nine cent burrito and taco day.  Talk about a great deal.  We loved sharing a whole tray of party burritos.  Any lunch with Sky is a party.  I loved it.   Sky and Kara signed up for a movie a day deal.  Its a trial membership and they are looking forward to twelve movie dates in a row.  They would love to see all the movies that are being nominated for Oscar awards and be able to cast their informed votes when the Oscars get here.
We Plano Thiots
Dick leaves to go out of town early Monday morning and so he has been trying his best to catch up and be ready to be gone for the week.  Maybe the best part of him being gone this week is who is coming home with him on Friday.  My Dad is coming and will be here with us for two and a half weeks.  I can hardly wait.  It's going to be great to have him here with us.  We are making some plans of things to do to keep him busy.  We are hoping for an evening, "On the Road to Morocco"  I'm hoping Sky and Kara can come and bring a slide show to share their trip with us all.  We are going to try to make a meal from Morocco.  Maybe a rendition of Chinese Sundaes called Moroccan Sundaes. I'll keep you posted.  We are hoping for a trip to the Perot Museum and Sky and Dick are hoping to take him to the Bush Library on Saturday morning when Kara and I will be at the temple.  His biggest event will be Brooklyn's baptism.  We can't wait for that.
On Saturday afternoon, Dick and I attended the funeral services for a sister who her son and daughter in law serve in the temple with me.  She was a wonderful woman and it was so nice to be there.  The whole center portion of the chapel was reserved for her family.  It was filled up.  She had nine children and what a beautiful family she had.  With so many little people, they were so quiet and reverent.  After the funeral, Dick and I went to a place for dinner called Costa Vida.  Oh my goodness, it was so yummy.  They catered the rehearsal dinner we had for Pierce and Stacy the night before they got married.  We had heard they opened one in Colleyville and it was sure fun to go there.
I got the cutest package in the mail this week with a solar powered dancing poinsettia from my Aunt Jerry.  She and my mom love these fun things and when she saw it she knew I would love it too. What fun,  Thank you Aunt Jerry.  It's been a cold but good week here in Plano.  I hope you have had a good one too.  SLY Robynn

Happy New Year, we are all HOME!

Our Mansfield Thiots, HOME!
There is something almost magical in flying HOME on New Years Eve.  Some years we don't all make it until Midnight awake but some how traveling and having to get off the airplane and onto the shuttle bus to get to the car and then to get off the shuttle and into the car and then get home and into the house, there was plenty of awake time and a Happy New Year.  With flying home through the Oakland Airport, we had an extra few hours to explore San Francisco and the Bay area.  Lots o fun memories were made and lots of good times.  What a great holiday our Mansfield Thiots had.  Nana Diane and Papa Jim sure know how to turn on the fun times.  Glad you are home and can't wait to see you.  Tuesday?

Our Charlottesville Granges, HOME!
Our Charlottesville little Granges, did not last until midnight, nore did they really even understand the fact that a new year was coming.  Tatia got her Christmas decorations put away on New Years Day much to Miss Penny's tears.  She loved the tree and both she and Maxwell were so good at not bothering it,  Tatia said her house feels much bigger with the tree put away and the kids have already figured out a new route of racing around the living room into the kitchen, past the dining room and around and around again.  I loved watching those two little ones play together.  They are so fun.  Tatia new class of Sunbeams today and I can already tell you who will be her favorite.  Miss Penny is a Sunbeam! What a delightful one she will be.

Our Carmichael Thiots, HOME!
This has been a week of inspections and waiting on the home buying Game.  Things are still on schedule for a closing on Callum's birthday on the 15th of January.  What a great gift Mr. C!  Keelie had a fun adventure on Saturday.  It was time for Keltzie and Jordan to head for home.  They had traveled into San Francisco and so they all enjoyed a fun quick visit to San Fran.  Keelie had a bonus.  While eating at Fisherman's warf, she bit into her bread bowl and came out without a front tooth.  What a delicious way to loose a tooth.  Go Keelie!  She is ready to head back to school this week.  Callum and Charlie had a fun boys day starting the packing it up process.  Callum is so much like his dad, I imagine those two could make such a job FUN!
Our LA Thiots, HOME!
Pierce, Stacy and Adelaide had a wonderful and very cold week in Utah and I'm glad to report that they arrived home on Friday night about 11:00 my time.  Hooray!  It was very trafficy outside of Las Vegas but the weather cooperated and they had a safe trip home.  Lani and my Dad sure enjoyed having them there for four fun days.  They got to spend some good times together and made some great memories.  One of my favorites was the night they went to the outback steak house together and then Lani and Stacy went to a chick flick and Dad, Pierce and Lady drove downtown to see the Christmas lights on temple square.  It was so bitterly cold, they just drove around the block several time and peeked in the gate to see the lights.  I think that was a good choice.  BURRRRR!  Pierce shared some great news with us that he was chosen as one of the Top 30 Most Creative in Advertising!   We are so proud of Pierce!

Skyler and Kara had a wonderful Christmas/Anniversary trip to Morocco.  I can't wait to get with them to see their photos they took.  We loved the ones they would text us along the way.  What an interesting trip back into history.  It is a very old country and they learned a lot,  loved the food, prayed a lot while riding in Taxi Cars and overall enjoyed every part.  It's good to have them HOME. Sky went back to work on Friday and Kara will go back tomorrow.  Yippee!

We Plano Thiots, Home!
Saturday morning was a very special day for my cousin Michelle's little daughter Avery.  You see she recently turned 8 and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  I was so happy that even though I couldn't be there, my sister Lani and my Dad were there to support her and her family.  Our sweet Brooklyn will turn 8 later this month and we are so looking forward to her upcoming baptism. Lani and my Dad, Grandpa Great will be coming.  I can't wait!  Family is best!  Dick hit the ground running at work and has been working hard on a few on going projects that are requiring lots of time and energy.  He did get to  go to see Night at the Museum with our friend Linda and me and out to dinner at El Fenix for New Years eve.  Yummy!  He did get to stay home on New Years Day and was a  HUGE help in helping to put away Christmas.  Our tree is wrapped and up in the attic.  Unlike Miss Penny, I was ready to put ours away.  It does seem empty in our family room but kind of nice.  Dick and I were invited to our neighbors across the street to see their Christmas Decorations.  They have got a LOT of beautiful things and it may take them until Easter to put theirs away.  It was fun to see all their beautiful decorations.  Dick was invited to teach a class on Rechartering Online at the Boy Scout University was held yesterday. He always enjoys that and loved catching up with  many of his Scouter friends.  I hope your New Year is off to a great start and that you are ready for a new week.  Sure love ya'll,  Robynn
