This week brought a bit more excitement than most. We thought last week was exciting with the tornado sirens blasting through Mansfield. This week our Brooklyn was at school and had an asthma attack. She was in PE and they were hula hooping. She was doing a super duper job when she couldn't catch her breath. The coach ran her to the nurses office who called 911 and had the paramedics on their way and then called Becky who got there just as the fire trucks pulled up and had her medication to help her. Happy Day all is well, but what a scare. Becky took Brooklyn to the doctor later that afternoon and she now has some equipment to help her out better and one to keep at school too. On a more cheery note, a family who's children were growing up, offered to give Ricky's family a water slide. It's one you blow up and ride down. It fit perfectly in their side yard in the back and has already provided many hours of enjoyment. What dear friends to share. I can hardly wait to get over there and try it out myself.:)
Our Upstairs Granges
Penny checked a few things off her bucket list this week. She and her family went to the zoo in Fort Worth with their friends the Monsons. She loved the penguins, the tigers and especially the phones that you can pick up and have them tell you about the animals you are looking at. She almost hated to move from one exhibit to the next as she was enjoying those so much. Then another thing she was wishing for was a sleep over with her cousins Brooklyn and Addison. She talks about those cousins every day. We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend sleepover. Tatia took some fun photos and we will have lots of good memories. We swam, we played at the playground, we got new matching shirts, we watched a Muppet Movie or Puppet Movie as Penny calls them, and went to the DFW National Cemetery and saw so many flags and graves. It was wonderful to share with them the meaning of Memorial Day and be there together.
Our Carmichael Thiots
Charlie, Kenzie, Keelie and Callum had a fun Memorial Day Weekend. Charlie enjoyed his day off of work on Monday and loved spending time with his family that day. He went for an early morning run and then they went for a hike followed by a swim and a yummy cook out at Grandma and Grandpa Smiths. They are sure excited about Aunt Kelzie's upcoming wedding later this summer, I bet Kenzie is a big help to her sweet little sister. I found some fun patriotic shirts for the grandkids and had a fun thought, instead of mailing Callum and Keelie theirs, I can deliver them in person. I can't believe in 3 weeks I will be there with you for a whole week. I am counting the days.
Our LA Thiots
Pierce and Stacy spend the Memorial Day weekend apart for the first time. Pierce had an assignment/opportunity to travel to Washington DC and then on to Chicago for some work combined with some fun which is sometimes the case in the advertising world His dad was so excited about Pierces opportunities, that he turned in his frequent flyer miles to join him on his second leg in Chicago to attend a baseball came at Wrigley field tomorrow night. Dick has a goal of going to a baseball game with each of his boys this summer. He is not against traveling to make this goal complete. Charlie, find a game while he is in town next month.:) Along with Brooklyn's medical scare last week, Stacy and Pierce had one too. Stacy had a doctors appointment last Monday and with some test results, they were sent to the hospital to be monitored for the rest of the day. I'm glad to report that everything is fine, but they will be watching Stacy closely during her last seven weeks. You are in our prayers.
Our Upstairs Thiots
Kara had a wonderful memorial day weekender. Her old roommate was married on Friday in the Columbia River Temple in the Tri cities area in Washington State. She was a brides maid and was able to go and attend the wedding and all the fun celebrations. Sky stayed home although he almost felt like he was there and Kara was awesome at sending photos and sharing her fun experiences there. She arrived home on Sunday night and had to open her store on Monday and she and Sky headed right over to Arlington for some memorial Day celebrations with her family when she got off work. I've seen her car, so I know she is home but I haven't seen her yet. Sky's big news is that he purchased a new car this week. It's a 2012 Toyota Prius. He even let me drop him off at the train one morning so I could drive it home. It's pretty sweet and he hasn't taken the smile of his face yet. Congrates!
We Filled Up Nesters
Dick is in charge of the Seminary Breakfast on Friday and is trying to figure out how to feed those 80 hungry kids. Last time they bought every kind of sugar cereal they could find to spoil them and it didn't turn out to be as big of a thrill as they had hoped. They are thinking pancakes and maybe trying out the pre-fab frozen variety. Any one have any experience with those they could share? Could be yummy with plenty of syrup or strawberry jam and whipped cream.
Last Wednesday I had a bit of fun too. I had a little spot of cancer on my lip removed which has made for a fun week of sporting a big bandage. I was nervous to take off the Band-Aid and was pleasantly surprised to see what a nice job Dr. Perry did of stitching it back up. He told me he thought the incision would heal nicely and would fit in well with the rest of my wrinkles. FUNNY Man! I get the stitches out on Friday and will be glad to have the Band-Aid gone. It made for quite a lot of stares from my Primary children. They are so sweet to notice when things are different. I hope you've had a good week and that you are looking forward to this new one too. SLY Robynn
