Our Mansfield Thiots

While on Thaksgiving break from school, Ricky's family headed south to San Antonio for a quick getaway.  They had a great time at Sea World. The weather was perfect and the crowds minimal. I was sure Thankful to have our Mansfield Thiots close enough to come for our Thanksgiving Feast.  It was delightful to have them here.  Brooklyn and Addison enjoyed our hike and treasure hunt after dinner.  They are both good treasure hunters.  We were so glad that the Christensen’s came as our Kinsley is a wonderful clue reader. She is our first grader and has some great reading skills.  It was fun to have Luke and Owen come too.  They are such darling and fun little guys. On Friday night, Becky planned a fun evening for the Big Girls.  She found tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet at the beautiful Opera House in Dallas.  We were sad that Stacy wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t join us.  It was so much fun and now we need to find a matinee to take a little ladies, maybe next Christmas. While we were gone, Ricky put on his elf suit and got down from the attic all their Christmas decorations and set up their tree and had the lights on when Becky came home to surprise her.  Way to go Ricky! I can’t wait to come see your Christmas Home.

Jake, Tatia and Miss Penny returned from Washington on Monday night. They had a great time and they weren’t home five minutes until Jake’s mom called me saying how lonesome she was for Penny.  Six days went by too fast for her.  I know what she means, I missed them so much while they were away.  It was wonderful to have them home for thanksgiving.  Both Jake and Tatia are good helpers and I was sure Thankful for their help. They have their apartment looking so beautiful for Christmas.  The tree is up and decorated and Penny is thrilled with it.  She loves to touch the decorations but is so gentle and soft. She loves her little nativity that she can touch and loves to make the little angel on the stable sing and sing and sing.  They came over on Saturday to take their Christmas card photo.  They are so cute, Jake set up the camera on a tripod and had everything set just right and Dick got to snap it and Rocky and I got to try to make Penny smile and it was a take in 3 minutes or less.  They turned out so fun. Well Done!

Our Carmichael Thiots

Charlie, Mackenzie, Keelie and Callum had a nice Thanksgiving.  While the preparations were in the works, they took a hike to the American River to see the leaves and toss some rocks into the river.  Callum loves throwing rocks in the river.  I have a feeling he is going to be a great rock skipper just like his dad and grandpa and great grandpa. On Saturday they took an adventure to San Francisco to the Muir Woods to see those giant red wood trees.  They loved it and even took a trip to Ghirardelli square, the chocolate factory for some tasty treats before heading home.  Only one sad note, Charlie was carrying Callum on his shoulders and some how Charlie’s contact fell out.  He will be ordering a new one first thing Monday morning. Glad you had a good time and I’m so Thankful you are home safe and sound.

Our LA Thiots

Pierce and Stacy came into town last Saturday.  It’s been delightful to get to spend some time with them.  They came and spent last Sunday with us and I loved every minute.  I got to fix manicotti for Pierce and he requested cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  I loved having them here.  They came on thanksgiving for desert which was fun too.  Pierce leaves to go home tomorrow and Stacy will follow a few days later.  I sure hope she gets feeling better.  It’s no fun being sick and being away from home.  We love you LA Thiot’s and are so Thankful you could come to Texas for Thanksgiving.

Our Provo Thiots

Sky and Kara were blessed to get to celebrated Thanksgiving with my family in Utah last Sunday evening.  What a great crowd gathered in Midway at krista and Matt’s lovely  new home. They loved being there surrounded by so many people they love.  On Thursday, they were invited to one of Kara’s co-workers for their feast and they loved it and then watched the rather sad Dallas football game and then ended the day with a movie, I think the new Lincoln movie, but not sure on that.  It’s a strange thing, that having 3 of my kids here for Thanksgiving made me miss the other two even more than usual.  I would think having sixty percent would be good, but I was wishing they could have all come.  We are sure Thankful you are coming for an early Christmas Sky and Kara!

I don’t know if you can tell a difference, but this edition of the Thiot Times is coming from a brand new computer.  It’s my very first new computer I have ever had.  I’ve been blessed with hand-me-downs for the past many years, which I have been grateful for and just recently, mine had gotten so slow, having too many documents and photos on board, that it was making even me crazy to type on it.  This is wonderful, I am Thankful for a wonderful husband who fixed me up with a beauty. On Thanksgiving, I wanted to make a Thanksful tree that we could all put our blessings onto.  I had seen a branch in the mediun of coit road but couldnt figure out how to get it.  Dick went with me and had me pull into the turn lane and he ran back and got it.  It was bigger than I thought and he had to hold it outside the car window to get it home.  I am sure thanksful as I LOVE seeing all those thankful leaves on it.  Our sweet Kinsley passed out leaves to everyone and had us write what we were thankful for and then we all got to share.  I loved that too.  Thank You Kinsely, I  Hope you had a Thankful week too.  SLY Robynn

Happy Thanksgiving

Our Mansfield Thiots

Dick and I had a fun evening in Mansfield with 3 little ladies. Actually one of the little ladies was snoozing the whole time. Ricky and Becky went to a concert in Dallas and we were lucky enough to get to tend. When they got home at about 11:15, Becky decided she might be getting too old for the loud and late concert scene at least on week nights. She looked darling when they went and Ricky loved it even though he had an early flight the next morning. We got another fun adventure with our Mansfield Thiot’s on Saturday. We met them at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and Tatia took some darling family pictures of them. It was a beautiful morning and a little over cast which makes for perfect outdoor photos. We got to have lunch at Chuy’s afterwards which left a mighty fine taste in my mouth of the day. Thanks for inviting me along!

Jake has been gone since last Tuesday, back on the eastern side of the country interviewing for Residency’s again. He’s had four interviews and one more this morning. He will return at midnight tonight and then he and Penny and Tatia will board a plane for Washington State. They get to spend a few days with Jake’s family and then they will all drive up to Seattle where Jake will interview at the University of Washington. Jake’s parents are crossing their fingers that he will fall in love with that school. So far, he has ranked Virginia and North Carolina schools on top. I just know where ever he goes, he is going to do well and love it. Tatia and Penny have hung out at our house which you can only imagine how much I am enjoying. Penny is mine this morning while Tatia ran home to pack and get things ready to be gone for a week.

Charlie called on Saturday as they had been looking for a bigger family car. They found one on line at a dealership in Dallas. I was so hoping they would HAVE to fly out to Dallas to drive it home. Unfortunately for me, they Ship cars to you, you don’t have to come get them. As it turned out, they decided to put their money’s and efforts into finding a home to purchase instead of worrying about a bigger car right now. We are just a praying the Honda and Jeep last a bit longer. Charlie’s family skyped with my mom and dad last Sunday night and oh how that made Gram happy. She loved seeing those little great grandchildren on her computer. It’s the next best thing to being there for sure!

Our LA Thiots

Pierce and Stacy had an extra fun Sunday. One of the families that Pierce home teaches, their mom had surgery this week and her two little children 3, 5, needed a ride to church and some one to sit with. If I thought for a long time, it would be hard to think of any body much more fun than Pierce and Stacy to sit with at church. Pierce said they were very good little boys and they really liked having children on their row. I’m glad they got some practice. Kids certainly do liven up church. I loved having Penny on my row on Sunday. I was most grateful for some rolls of smarties that were in my primary bag. She was delighted with them. We are getting excited for Pierce and Stacy to come to Dallas on Saturday for the Thanksgiving week. Stacy’s family feast is the same time as ours, but we are hoping to sneak in some time for Pumpkin pie afterwards..

Our Provo Thiots

Provo had it’s first snow fall of the year this weekend. Sky and Kara woke up Saturday morning to a white wonderland. Instead of just staying in where it was cozy and warm, they bundled up and got some snow shovels and took off shoveling some of the older folks in their wards drive ways and side walks. Oh how I love you two and your good examples of service. I told my primary kids about you. Way to go on showing kindness. Sky said they came home and Kara made her famous cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. Yummy! That afternoon they went to the new James Bond movie. It was Kara’s first James Bond and she is hooked.:)

We Empty Nesters

Dick has been quite spoiled this week having Tatia and Penny here. When Tatia first came, she planned some yummy menus and we shopped for all the ingredients. She made us Pork Tacos that Becky taught us all about and on Sunday she made Salmon that was so delicious. Dick loves Salmon and I never ever make it. Tatia spoiled him well. It has finally cooled off here and guess what, our furnace in our room is thinking that it is old and the pilot light does not want to light, Ugggg. I always just hope things like furnaces will last forever. I’m grateful the sun came out and I”ve opend the blinds and it’s feeling nice and cozy in my room now. Happy Day! I’m looking forward to Wednesday this week. Dick’s Aunt Betty is in town for the Thanksgiving Holiday. She invited Dick and I to go to lunch with her on Wednesday. I love her dearly and am looking forward to catching up with her. Have a great week ! SLY Rob

Our Mansfield Thiots

After a wonderful week of Halloween, it was back to school and back to normal in Mansfield. Brooklyn was invited to a pajama party on Friday night which was NOT a sleep over, but include dinner and fun games. She loved wearing her spooky bones jammies and had a great time. With the temple being closed for cleaning, I got to go on Friday and play with Addison for a few hours. She is such a fun girl and I loved getting to play toys with her. We got to pick up Brooklyn at school and I got some much needed snuggling time with our Harper. She turned 5 months old yesterday. I can’t believe it. She’s started eating sweet potatoes and cereal and got a new high chair and is one happy little eater. The girls also went on a pony ride this week. WOWSERS!

Our Lovers Lane Granges

Jake returned home on Monday to a VERY happy wife and daughter. He has a relaxed schedule this week and enjoyed going to Tatia’s 18 week check up, getting to vote for our new President, along with having an interview at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.. He was already quite familiar with their program and said it was more relaxed than his other interviews were. He leaves on Tuesday for Virginia and another whirl wind week of interviews. Good Luck Jake! Miss Penny had her 18 month check up on Friday and is doing well. Jake was able to go to her check up too which Tatia loved. On Sunday Miss Penny had her first day in the Nursery and she just marched right in like a pro. She loved playing toys with all the children. Tatia kept peeking in to make sure all was well and it was. Happy Day!.

Our Carmichael Thiots

In the mail this week I got a letter. The outside had my Charlie’s handwriting but the inside was all Miss Keelie’s hand writing. I don’t know what could possibly make a Grammy any happier than to get mail from grandchildren. It makes me wish that I would have written my grandparents far more often when I still had them on this earth as it sure put a big SMILE on my face which hasn’t come off yet. Thank you Miss Keelie! I love you and miss you too! I loved your picture in your soccer uniform. I just know that you are going to be one great soccer player. Both your parents love soccer and are great and I know you will be too! Thanks for the letter! Thanks for mailing it Char!

Our LA Thiots

After a busy week of work and editing photos, Pierce and Stacy took an afternoon on Saturday for a new movie they had both been wanting to see. It’s called Wreck it Ralph. They both highly recommend it. I can hardly wait for it to arrive at the dollar theatre next spring. Something wonderful has happened the last few Saturdays. My phone rings and it’s Pierce calling in to give his weekly report and check up on me. I have to tell you that I look forward to it and enjoy it a lot. Thanks Pierce and Stacy for your kind and thoughtful ways.

Our Provo Thiots

The First Sunday of the month is called Fast Sunday. When my kids were young, I remember them asking me if this was Fast Sunday or Slow Sunday. Fast Sunday means we go without food for two meals and give what we would have spent to the poor and the needy. The church meeting is different too. Instead of set speakers, you have the chance to share and bear your testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Another thing that usually happens on that Sunday is the blessing of new babies. Our ward had one sweet baby girl blessed yesterday and Sky and Kara’s ward had SEVEN new babies. What a wonderful blessing but with so many extra guests there, the Sacrament portion took up 30 minutes and then the baby blessings, there was no time for testimony bearing. I can’t think of a more wonderful problem. What a fun ward you two live in Sky and Kara! Thanks for sharing that fun news with us.

We Empty Nesters

Halloween was extra fun this year. Our Texas kids came to dinner on Halloween and then stayed for Trunk or Treat at our ward. Oh how I loved having them here with us. It was so much fun to have those sweet little children with us. We had two firemen, one nurse, one princess Rapunzel, one princess Merida, one little red ride hood, one big bad wolf and one darling Granny. We loved having Ben and Rebecca’s family join us too. It was a fun evening. Everyone left to go home from the church and I loved it when Miss Penny aka Red Riding Hood wanted her Grammy to carry her to the car. She is one dear little lady. It was sure fun to get to help Tatia with sewing her costumes. She is quite Remarkable! Dick had a miracle happen on Sunday. He woke up early feeling like he had an anvil on his chest. Now let me assure you that it NOT a good feeling. He had a chest cold move in over night. We had family prayer before he left for his early meetings and he told me when he got home at 6:00 that he had not coughed or felt bad all day at church. Upon arriving home, he felt pretty crummy again. Heavenly Father knows the blessing we need and when we need them. For that we are grateful. Have a wonderful new week ya’ll. SLY Robynn
