Our Mansfield Thiots

With a new wading pool in the back yard, these nice warm days of summer are more enjoyable. Brooklyn is finished with preschool until Kindergarten starts this fall and is enjoying her days with Addison. What fun to have a built in best friend who lives right with you. Sisters are the very best of friends and both Brooklyn and Addison are looking forward to meeting their new baby sister. These last few weeks are not the easiest for Becky, but she is surely a trouper. She finished her amazing ruffled curtains. I can’t wait to see them hanging in the nursery. I need to plan a trip to Mansfield soon.

Our Lovers Lane Granges

Tatia has been busy this week preparing for the Visiting Teaching conference her ward is hosting this next week. She’s been making purses for each of the sisters. They are made of paper, but still quite a project. Isn’t anything times 50? She found a fun gal to cut her hair this week and has been loving having her hair look awesome. Penny has learned to climb stairs lickety split this week. She is NOT skilled at coming down. She’d just like to walk on down. Scary business! Tatia is speaking in Sacrament meeting as I’m typing this. She is speaking about the Beatitude, Blessed are the pure in heart…. I can’t wait to hear how she did. I’m sure it will be great. Jake is on his psychology rotation at the hospital for the next few weeks. He’s learning lots.

Our Carmichael Thiots

Charlie told me this week that he and the kids got Mackenzie a Silhouette Cameo Crafting Cutter for Mother’s day. I know she’s been wishing for one for years. I think she was smart to wait until this new one came out as it’s amazing I hear. I can’t wait to see all the fun things you are having fun making Mackenzie. Way to go Char and kidos. You done good! Charlie’s been helping with some training for the ropes course again this year. He enjoys that and is sure good at it.

Our LA Thiots

I had a fun visit with Pierce on Saturday. He was on his way to the church to help with a “deep” cleaning project. Every few months, they pull out all the stops and really clean up nice. Pierce is a good worker and I’m sure had the building shining with his good help. He told me about an article in the Sports Illustrated last week about a young man who is an amazing basketball player in Chigaco. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1198498/index.htm Take a peek if you have a minute. I’m sure you will be an impressed as Pierce and I are. Pierce is going to meet this young man this summer as he is part of the Gatorade ad campaign Pierce is working on. What a thrill that will be. Go PJ! Stacy sent me some fun photos of their week so far. She got to work a double shift at the temple on Thursday. What a blessing to serve in the Lords house!

Our Provo Thiots

Sky and Kara got to have dinner with Dick and my parents on Thursday night at the Sizzler, a favorite spot in Sandy, Utah. They sent Dick home with my mother’s day gift. A darling navy blue t-shirt that Kara added ruffles too. I LOVE it. Thank you again and again. School and work are keeping them busy and out of trouble.

We Empty Nesters

Dick arrived back in town on Friday night, 30 minutes earlier than the flight was due in. He had a fun time visiting with a cute family, Brant Rast and his darling bride and baby boy. It worked out great as their cell phones were both dead and he was able to call their folks to tell them they were in early while he waited for me to arrive. He had a busy week working lots of hours but felt good about the progress on the project. They need him for two more weeks, but he is hoping to get a couple in at home before going back. He worked part of Saturday trying to catch up with the mail and stuff at work. We did have a fun Saturday evening date to the dollar theatre to see Mirror Mirror. It was fun, but I would for sure say, don’t pay more than the dollar theatre prices. Snow White was darling and I did love her dwarfs. Our Missionaries have had an exciting week getting a family of four ready for baptism this coming Friday. We are all excited for them. They have 3 sons, two of which will be baptized with them and one that will have to wait until September when he turns 8. It’s been wonderful to see this all come about. What a well prepared family they are. They are surely going to be a blessing to our ward. The Dentists office was not as bad as I had feared on Monday and I’ll get to go back on Thursday to finish up the root canals. Thanks for your kind words and good thoughts on my behalf. I’m hoping to drive over to the national cemetery tomorrow to see the sea of graves and flags on Memorial Day. I get to tend 4 little ladies while their family spend the day packing getting ready to move away from our ward and back home to Arizona. We will miss them lots. I hope you have a wonderful week. Our Mansfield Thiot’s

This has been one of my favorite weeks with our Mansfield Thiot’s. They came over last Sunday for our celebrations then on Monday night, they met us at the Ballpark in Arlington for the Ranger Baseball game. On Tuesday, I got to pick up Brooklyn from school and take her home and help Becky work on some fun ruffled curtains she is sewing for the baby’s room, on Wednesday, Tatia and Penny and I went back to Mansfield to help with the sewing project and on Saturday afternoon the girls came over to stay while Ricky and Becky went to see the movie Expecting and to dinner. Talk about a Grammy’s dream week. It was very fun to see those girls so often. I loved it!

Our Lovers Lane Granges

I also was lucky enough to see Our Lovers Lane Granges multiple times this week as well. Sunday at the birthday and mothers day celebrations then on Monday, Tatia and Penny met Stacy and I for lunch and some shopping at Sam Moons purse store. We were in traffic for a while on the way to and from but what fun to all be trapped together in one car. We were so glad we weren’t playing follow the leader and not able to be together. Penny went to her first Ranger Baseball game on Monday night and LOVED singing The Stars at Night, Deep in the Heart of Texas. That girl can clap amazingly well. On Friday, Jake and Tatia met me at the temple as I was getting off my shift and I got to take Penny home with me for a snoozer. I loved it and was so happy to get to spend Friday afternoon with Penny Elaine! Thanks for sharing her Tatia and Jake!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s

I wish I could say that I had many sightings of our Carmichael Thiot’s this week too. That would be only in my dreams and in my wishes. Miss Keelie has been taking some private swim lessons this week. Her teacher is using her as a guinea pig for some new swimming lesson insructions. I’m sure Keelie did an awesome job. I am hoping maybe we can face time while Keelie is swimming some time soon, What do you think Char, can you make that happen? I hope so. Charlie said that Callum is a walking man and thrills at going from one couch to another and loves the attention and applause he gets from trying so hard. Go Callum!!!!!

Our LA Thiot’s

Today is our Stacy’s birthday! It was fun to do a little early celebrating with her while she was in town earlier this week but I’m sure Pierce is glad to have her back home with him. He was pretty lonesome but was able to keep busy with work. I bet he is having fun spoiling her today. Happy Birthday Stacy! We are so lucky to have you in our family.

Our Provo Thiot’s

Sky and Kara got to spend an evening at Five Guys burgers with Dick on Thursday night. They had a fun time and Sky picked up his computer and hopefully it is as good as new or maybe even better. Sky and Kara offered their smart assistance on a project I’m hoping to get started on soon. Skyler said he could help illustrate the book about Mom Mom. I am excited to get started on it. Thank you for your kind offer of help you two smarty’s!

We Empty Nesters

Dick was out of town from Tuesday through Friday this week. He was working hard in Salt Lake on the install project he is working on. They told him they are going to need him for two more weeks. I’m not smiling too big about that, but hoping he can surprise them and finish in one more. He had the fathers and sons outing breakfast that he was helping to cook at on Saturday morning and then Wood badge Planning Training on Saturday after the breakfast. He was home for a couple of hours that we got to play with Brooklyn and Addison in our swimming pool. They were so excited to dive for sea shells. Lots of fun.

As you can tell from reading the above, this has been a really fun week in my life. Lots of time with family which always makes for a good time as well as a trip to the ballpark. I took my crocheting to work on but ended up putting that away and just enjoying the pretty ballpark and having granddaughters on my lap. What a fun way to celebrate Dick’s double nickel birthday for sure. Monday morning I’ve got another dentist appointment for a double root canal. I am not sure I can think of anything much LESS fun than that. Thank heaven for novelcane I should say and be happy I don’t have to experience pain along with the fun. I’m glad I have lots of fun memories from this week to overflow into this new week which may not have many.

Tonight is a special fireside for my primary girls who are 10-11 years old. They are pretty excited about it and the Stake Primary has worked so hard getting ready for it. I’m so glad I get to go and enjoy it as well. Dick just called and still has a few more appointments so he will meet me at the fireside. I’ll try to sneak him in some dinner. Have a great week ya’ll. SLY Robynn

Double Nickels & Happy Mother's Day

Our Mansfield Thiot’s

There is something quite wonderful about expecting a baby on Mother’s Day to help you appreciate Mothers. I am so grateful for the great Mommy that our Becky is to Brooklyn and Addison and soon to our new baby Thiot. Her girls adore her as does Ricky. One of the highlights of Mothers Day was having Stacy here to take some Mother’s day photos of sweet Mommy’s. I loved the ones of the girls hugging Becky’s tummy. They already love this new sister even before she is born. We can hardly wait to meet her.

Our Lovers Lane Granges

Not long ago, Tatia told me that his 1st year of Penny’s life has been the very best year of her life as well. I don’t think Tatia could have ever said any thing to me to make me any prouder of her. Being a mom is a wonderful job. It’s all I ever wanted to be when I grew up and it’s so fun to see Tatia having the same feelings and enjoying that little girl so very much. Tatia made a special Mother’s day and Birthday Breakfast for Dick and me. She brought over on Saturday a quart of orange juice and two delicious apple fritters with instructions to put them in a cooler by my bed and in the morning, to reach in and have breakfast in bed BOTH of us. Thank you Tatia for your kind and thoughtful ways.

Our Carmichael Thiot’s

Charlie and Keelie and Callum worked hard to spoil Mackenzie on Mothers day and to help her to know how very much they love and appreciate all she does for their family. I loved getting to Face Time with Charlie and his kids, I’m sorry I didn’t get to wish Mackenzie a Happy Mother’s day. I’m so glad you are the Mother of my two precious Califonrina grandchildren. Thank you for letting us be a part of their lives too. We love them dearly.

Our LA Thiot’s

AS mentioned above, we had the lucky opportunity to have Stacy in town for Dick’s birthday and Mother’s day. It was wonderful to have here and get to keep her for a sleep over and then spend Monday with her too. She is one busy lady and we so appreciated her making time for us. We got to face time with Pierce and he looked mighty lonesome. I was wishing he was here too. We made Manicotti for dinner and Pierce loves it. I was wishing there was a way to send a big plate home to PJ. We missed you Pierce!

Our Provo Thiot’s

Skyler and Kara are keeping busy with working and school and an internship. Dick was lucky enough to get to spend some time with them this week again while in Salt Lake working. I’m so glad they could come and go to dinner with him at Hires, home of the BIG H Burger and frosty mugs of Root beer. It’s a favorite stop of mine when we are in town. I’m hoping with Dick’s help, Sky’s computer is working again. Computers are wonderful much like cars when they work and so frustrating when they don’t. I’m glad you are back in business Skyman!

We Empty Nesters

In our 33 years of marriage, Dick’s Birthday and Mother’s Day have fallen on the same day Six Times. Now this might not seem like a big deal to you, but to us, it’s a pretty big deal. You see, we both stay in bed waiting for the other to make breakfast in bed. Tatia had the best solution this year with a picnic made a head of time. Smart thinking Tatia!

Mother’s Day has been a tough day for Dick since 1988 when we lost his sweet mother. We always take a trip to the cemetery and I can almost hear her voice telling Dick how proud she is of the great man he has grown up to be. Dick was her only child and she thought the world of him. Dick told me she knew he wasn’t perfect, but I totally think that she thought he was. Even though 24 years have passed, there isn’t a single day that we don’t think about her and miss her. I’ve been wanting to write a book, a children’s book about her so that our little grandchildren will not only know about her but will feel like they know her too. Sometimes I like to imagine that she is still here with us and think about how crazy she would have been about each of our children and their spouses and their children, her great grandchildren. She would make sure they all had plenty of shoes especially shoes that fit. When Charlie was young, he grew quickly and especially his feet. She was always checking to be sure his shoes fit. She would LOVE taking our nearly 5 little girls shopping for Easter Dresses and everyone would “need” an Easter Hat too and gloves. She would go nuts about our Callum and his darling bow ties. She would love to watch him drive his fire engine. Sometimes I feel so sad that she has missed all of this, and then I remember, she isn’t missing it at all, she is watching over all of us and enjoying every minute from heaven above. I’m glad Dick has spent the week in Utah and got to spend time with my parents and siblings. He feels so at home there. Thank you! Have a great week ya’ll! Happy Mother’s Day! SLY Robynn

Happy May!

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Becky had her 36 week appointment for our newest little granddaughter this past week.  The doctor said everything looks great.  She thinks baby girl number 3 is going to be just as darling as numbers 1 and 2 are.  Becky is in the nesting mode and is getting the nursery ready.  It’s going to be so fun.  She found a new rocking chair to go in their that is apple green and so very cute.  I can hardly wait to sit in it and rock our sweet new baby, next month.  Yahoo!  Ricky spent part of the week in Shreveport and worked hard at finding some new customers.  It was extra fun for me on Friday when he stopped by my house for a visit!  Thanks Rich! We loved seeing all the Mansfield Thiot’s at Penny’s birthday party on Saturday and then they celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Del Taco for dinner later that night.  Yummy!

Our Lovers Lane Granges
Little Miss Penny is now officially one year old and what a fun week this was. Tatia made her the cutest little Raggedy Annie doll and maybe my favorite part of the doll was the doll I got to tend while Tatia sewed her. I wish you could have seen Penny’s face when she met her doll.  She was DELIGHTED and just hugged her and hugged her.  It was so cute.  Penny’s first birthday party was very fun.  Everything had a P Theme.  We had Penny’s Party at the Park, we Picnicked on Pizza and Pineapple and drank Pop and went to the Pond to feed the ducks and ate the Prettiest strawberry short cake ever.  Penny got some mighty fun Presents and had fun with all the People who came that love her.  Thanks for inviting us Miss Penny.  We loved being there!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s
I got a fun package in the mail this week from Charlie. Inside was Ricky’s birthday gift he had been meaning to mail since March and a boy scout leader shirt and a bag of boy scout patches that needed to be sewn on.  What a fun hour I had sewing on scout patches.  It’s been a while since I had the fun experience so Thank You Charlie for the fun.  It was kind of an amazing thing as I had my machine all threaded up with that fun clear thread which makes it so nice as so not have to try to match all the patches with the right color.  Thank you Candy Brown for teaching me that magic trick.  Candy was my very first sewing teacher and has taught me much.  Fun memories.  Kenzie sent me some fun pictures of Keelie on her first day of swim lessons.  I loved them, thanks Kenzie!

Our LA Thiot’s
Late Saturday night, Dick started getting pictures texted to him on his phone.  I was already asleep but he was just squealing with excitement.  Pierce had flown to Portland where Stacy had gone earlier in the week for some photo shoots and was on a small airplane flying over the Oregon coast with the dad of the new grandchild who they had come to photograph.  Needless to say, Pierce was thrilled and I do believe Dick was living vicariously through Pierce and enjoying Pierce’s ride right along with him.  Thanks for sharing those great photos Pierce.  What a great time you are having.  Be Safe!!!!!  Stacy is heading to Texas later this week where she will get to be HOME for her birthday and has several photo shoots in the Dallas and Houston area in the next few weeks.  We are looking forward to seeing you Stacy!
Our Provo Thiot’s
Skyler called on Thursday to tell me that he had just stopped traffic for one Momma Duck and her 10 little ducklings to safely cross the road.  I loved the photo he sent me.  One of my favorite moments of the week came on Friday morning when I heard that Pierce and Skyler and Kara got to spend some time together.  Pierce and Sky were at the beach and Pierce was giving surfing lessons to Skyler who was thrilled beyond words.  Sky and Kara are in LA for a wedding reception of one of Sky’s good buddies.  They are actually staying at Stacy and Pierce’s home while they are in Oregon.  That makes me happy that those two brothers could spend a little time together. Sky and Kara return later on Monday to get back to school and work.  I can’t wait to hear all about the fun they have been able to squeeze into their weekender getaway!
We Empty Nesters
This week was packed full of good memories.  Dick and I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary on Thursday.  Dick stopped by the family history center a few minutes before the close of my shift with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a lovely anniversary card.  Then we went to our favorite Thursday night spot for sizzling fajitas before he had a meeting.  It was just right.  Thank you Dick!  I had our recent family photo blown up to a 2 feet by 3 feet card for Dick for our anniversary. From just the two of us to now 17 8/9’s is a lot of growth for 33 years.  I’m sure grateful for each one of those beautiful faces in that photo.
On Sunday night, I dropped Dick off at the airport for a flight to Salt Lake.  He’s got LOTS of work to do this week up there and will be back home on Friday night. I hope it’s a speedie week, I’ll miss you Dick!  SLY Rob
