Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Ricky had a crazy couple of days when he came down with strep throat. That is a miserable thing to have happen, but the good news is, doctors know right what to do and he was feeling better in 24 hours after being on the medicine. Thank heaven for antibiotics! The girls have had a good week and they’ve enjoyed watching their Easter grass growing. We planted some wheat that we had soaked over night and have the prettiest little pots of Easter Grass looking so pretty. It’s amazing how quickly those wheat grains sprout and grow. I’ve loved watching mine grow too. It is surely Spring inside and outside this week.

Our Lovers Lane Granges
Tatia had a first this week. Jakes sister Jessie is expecting her first baby in April and it’s a BOY Baby. Tatia has been wanting to make him a blankey and she did it this week. For a girl who has never sewn much in her life, she is AMAZING! It was sure fun to teach her a few tricks and watch her take off on her own. Little Liam in going to just love his blankey, I’m sure of it. I’m sure proud of you Miss T! Miss Penny had a good week being her mom’s lovely assistant. She took some nice naps, so Tatia could quilt. Jake is officially on Spring Break for the next two weeks! Hurray! He finished up his internal medicine rotation at Parkland Hospital on Thursday and had his test on Friday. He is meeting with the director of Pathology at 3:00 this afternoon and then that darling family is heading south to the beach for the week. Have a great trip. I miss you already!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s
St. Patricks day was extra exciting in Carmichael. They had a lepracaun break into their home and cause a little mischief. Charlie and Keelie had made a trap but he didn't get caught, he did leave them so tasty treats. Charlie took his boy scouts camping and woke up to SNOW. Don't worry, Boy Scouts are always prepared for anything. I’ve been thinking a lot about Keelie Christina Thiot this week. She will be turning 4 years old next week and I can hardly believe it. Skyler was telling me that he will always be able to know how long ago it was that he left on his Mission to Russia as we put him in the MTC just a few days after she was born. Sky was at the hospital with me when she was born and got to hold her when she was only a few minutes old. She is a dear little girl who I wish I lived closer too. Oh, how I would love to call her up and go pick her up for a sleep over. She talks like she is about 40 years old. I’ve been trying to think what do do for her for her birthday. Keelie, if you have any ideas, call Grammy!!!!

Our LA Thiot’s
For Christmas Pierce wanted to get Stacy an i-pad, but knew the new one would be out in March and so they decided to wait. Stacy is THRILLED with her i-pad. Check out the cup cake automated teller in LA. How fun is that? Pierce called on Thursday to tell me that he and Stacy had some fun company at their home. My Dad and my brother Ric had driven to California for Ric to drop off one of his porches’ to have some body work done by a guy who is amazing. Worth the BIG drive to deliver the car. Ric picked up my dad who was staying in St. George with my mom. Dad LOVES a good road trip with Ric to catch up on life. Stacy and Pierce were wonderful hosts and they loved getting to see them. Thank you for your kind hospitality LA Thiot’s! My sweet Cousin Pamela and her son Oliver were also in LA last week. Unfortunatly, their schedule didn’t include time for a visit. Stacy said it was just fun having them in the same city for a few days.

Our Provo Thiot’s
I may have mentioned that Sky and Kara have enjoyed a television show called Downton Abbey. Well, they have named their Downton “Tabbey” cat after one of the characters on the show named Branson. So I know am the proud Grammy of Branson Winslow Thiot, a darling little boy kitty. If you know me, you know that since I was a tiny little girl, I’ve loved kitties. I’m so happy for the Provo Thiot’s. On another fun note. Thursday night, the AD Lab rented out a theatre for an EARLY bird showing of The Hunger Games. Sky and Kara both loved the books and were delighted to get to go without having to stay up until Midnight like the other folks who saw it first had to do. I was happy to hear that my sister Lani, who also LOVED the movie, got to go with her work to an early showing too. I’m tempted to start reading the books.

Dick’s car has been acting badly, as in not wanting to start at the most inconvient times. He took it to the shop and was given the most lovely loaner car. I know why they do that, they simply are trying to intice you to buy a new car. It smelled so good inside. I quite enjoyed the two short trips I got to go on in it. Dick just called and returned the loaner and is happy driving his car with a brand new starter installed. I’m hoping that truly was the trouble and that it will not be a problem again for a bit.Dick gave me the ok to choose some new carpet for our bedroom. If you’ve been to my house, you would all agree that it is much needed. I thought I could do that easily, but it was trickier than I thought. Uggggggg. Too many choices. Today a man came with such a few choices, and I chose on that I think will be just right. Thank you Dick for your kind and generous ways with my indecisions. I've had fun finding some fabrics to make a remodile of my room. I can hardly wait! Our missionaries got transfer calls and we are keeping them both for six more weeks. Hip Hip Horray!!!!! Have a great week ya'll! SLY Rob

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Remember a couple of weeks ago, when Ricky’s family wanted to go to Sea World, but had a sick little girl? Well guess what, this week it happened. They left early Wednesday morning for Houston where Ricky had a meeting with a doctors office and the girls got to spend the day with Cash, Chloe and Jen. Jen’s baby is due any time and she has been put on bed rest to give that little guy a few more weeks to grow. Becky and the girls loved getting some fun visiting time with them. Then on Thursday they drove to San Antonio where Ricky met with some doctors and the girls hung out at a HOtel. Brooklyn and Addison LOVE staying in Hotels and getting to share a bed together. Friday morning, they were nearly first in line at Sea World and had a wonderful time before all the crowds arrived. They bought a season pass so they have already made plans to go back in April. Brooklyn LOVED the big Whales and Addison couldn’t believe she was really there. What fun little ladies they are. They did a LOT of driving and were surely glad to be home!

Our Lovers Lane Granges
Tatia had a great and very successful 170th birthday for her Ward Relief Society on Tuesday. It was so fun helping her decorate for the party. It sure looked cute. All her hard work paid off when the room was filled with delightful Relief Society ladies who had a fun evening. Wednesday morning, Tatia and Penny stopped by to make freezer jam. Tatia had found a great deal at Aldie on straweberries and in just a bit more than an hour, we had 3 badges made and bottled. Little Penny was a wonderful helper. We filled up my right sink with nice warm water and some toys, and she had a delightful time tasting the strawberries and playing while we worked as fast as we could. The missionaries taste tested the jam for breakfast today and gave it four thumbs up. That is good!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s
My phone rang on Monday morning with this cute voice asking if they could come over. It sounded like Keelie’s voice and oh how I wished it was her and that she was close enough to call and come on over. It was a little boy in my Primary who wanted to come over and play with Pierce’s train that he had seen at the baptism on Saturday. What fun!!! I had a fun phone visit with Keelie and her Mom. That was fun too. I love to hear her voice and when Dick is home, we can sometimes see her face as we visit too. I love you Keelie and Callum too. So glad you are both feeling good.

Our LA Thiot’s
Dick took a phone call on Saturday while we had a house filled with leprechauns. He was in the living room visiting with some one, laughing often and smiling much. When he came back into the kitchen to join the party, he gave me a tight squeeze and said that it was from Pierce. Oh my that put a smile on my face . It was Pierce who he had been visiting and laughing with on the phone. Thanks for the squeeze Pierce. You always have the best hugs and I loved getting one second hand from your dad. Glad you are doing well. We miss you LA Thiot’s!

Our Provo Thiot’s
Sky and I played a bit of phone tag on Friday. He called and left a message and when I returned his call, he was at work and when he called me back, I was a sleep. Dick got to have a good visit with him. He is having a crazy time with hay fever. Things are in bloom in Utah and he is feeling aweful. I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you can find something that will give you some relief. Allergies are not fun. I hope you feel better soon. For Kara’s birthday she got her dream come true. A sweet little kitten has joined their family Kara loves cats and had been wishing for one. Last I heard, they hadn’t selected a name yet I will keep you posted.

We Plano Thiot’s
On Monday, Dick called to change some plans we had for the afternoon to tell me that something had come up and we couldn’t go. No problem, when he came home from work, his face matched his red golf shirt he was wearing. Come to find out the thing that had come up was an invitation to play golf with 3 ward members. He was one happy man as he had played well and had a really good afternoon. I’m glad he could get away and have some time off.
Friday night Ricky called to ask if he could borrow my car to pick up a dresser they had purchased for the nursery for the new baby. I figured that he would be here around lunch time and worked quickly to plan a St Patrick’s day party. I quickly sent out some invites on the computer and we had such a fun time. Everyone couldn’t come on such short notice, but we did have seven little leptrachans here which was so fun. When everyone left to go home, I just sat and smiled thinking about what fun we had. I hope your week was good too. SLY Robynn

Happy 101 Grandma Elaine!

Thursday, March 15, 2012

March 15, 2012 is the 101st Birthday of my Grandma Brown. She left us far too early in 1961, but has never been forgotten. As a matter of fact, she has 3 granddaughters named after her and 2 great great granddaughters who share her name too. Even though I was so young when she died, I've always known how much she loved me and I have always felt a sweet connection to her. Maybe even more now that I too am a Grandmother. She made me a quilt for Christmas the Christmas before she died that I will cherrish forever. I too love to make quilts and have made one for each of my granchildren and know what a gift of love they are. Happy Birthday Grandma Elaine. I know you are watching over us all from Heaven above. Thank you also for helping to send us the sweetest little spirits to our family. I always like to imagine you are helping to know who to send to us. I love you!

(The picture above is my Grandma with my Aunt Bonnie who was such a gift to her. I am standing in the doorway watching the two of them.)

Birthday Week at the Thiot Times

Ricky was in Louisiana this week for his job and got to spend some time in New Orleans and enjoy some of the fine food that is so inspired by that city. Sometimes it’s difficult to believe that Ricky is my son that he is brave enough to eat “raw” oysters on the half shell and other delicacies like that. He is definitely his Dad’s son who is defiantly his Mother’s son. There is a restraint called “Shuk and Jive” near Tatia and Jake’s home. Every time we drive past I think about Mom Mom (Dick’s Mom). She loved eating oysters on the half shell and slurping those ugly little characters down. When I’m with Dick we always comment how she would LOVE to stop in there and have a plate of them. Now we can add Ricky to the collection of people in our family that love them. Oh me, Oh my. Brooklyn and Addison will probably be next!

Our Lovers Lane Granges
Tatia has been spending most of her free time lately in preparation for her Relief Society’s Birthday Celebration which will be Tuesday night. She has made some fun plans for the decorations and is busy working on the game as we speak. Before Christmas, the church blessed each of the sisters with a beautiful book titled “Daughters in my Kingdom” It is filled with a treasure of stories and photos of Relief Society sisters all over the world. What a history Relief Society has. Tatia’s game she is making is like a treasure hunt through the book. The sisters have been invited to bring their books with them and will search for the answers in the book. She has some very fun “trivia” type questions and I think it will be a very fun evening. I even get to go help her set up tomorrow afternoon. I can hardly wait! I have some late breaking news. Miss Penny's 3rd tooth arrived this very morning. Her top left tooth is IN!!!!!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s
I’m glad to report that our Callum is doing better. When we spoke with Mackenzie on her birthday, she told us that she had been to the doctor with Callum and that he had pneumonia. Charlie sent some new pictures of Keelie and Callum on the swing set and that made me smile to see him looking happy and healthy. It seems like with this crazy winter we have had with ever changing weather, from cold one day to warm the next that it is even more difficult to stay healthy. We do enjoy the warm days but I’m not sure our bodies know quite what to do to adjust to the every changing temperatures. Our Missionaries who live with us have been sick. I keep making them promise to keep their germs upstairs and to not bring them down and to not feel like they have to share them with Dick and I. So far so good.

Our LA Thiot’s
Saturday morning Dick and I were invited to the baptism of Dallin Radke. He is one of my Primary boys and is one extra amazing young man. His mom is my visiting teacher and a dear friend of mine. When Dallin was only 3, he would come visiting teaching with his mom and LOVED to play with Pierce’s wooden train set. He thought it was the funnest thing ever. Over the last 5 years, he’s come many times to play with it. Even when Pierce returned from his mission, he came and spent an afternoon playing with it and with Pierce. So long story short, when I think of Dallin, I think of Trains. Dick and I went early to set up for the baptism only to find that Dallin’s family had come the night before. I put a table cloth on the little round table with the picture of Jesus on it and built a round train track around it and put a train on the tracks. One of the things Dallin loved was the little crane Pierce has that lifts the box cars off the train cars. Anyway, back to my story, When Dallin saw the train, he wondered why it was there and then he said this or something close… He put the little car on with the crane and said that we come to earth from heaven and put us in a family (the other train cars) then we ride around the tracks through life and go to Primary, study the scriptures, get baptized and he went on and on, then we come get old and Heavenly Father takes us back to heaven with him. He lifted up the crane and took the little car back to heaven to live with our Heavnly Father and Jesus Christ and our family forever. That little fellow told the plan of salvation with a little train set. He’s amazing and I love him.

Our Provo Thiot’s
Saturday was Kara’s 20th Birthday and I hope she had a fun day. The weather here was wet and chilly but I think Utah did a bit better performance for Birthday weather there. Skyler left a message to share some fun news that he is auditioning for a part in the new testament movies that BYU film studio is helping to create. I think it’s an excuse to grow a beard, I’m not sure on that one but will keep you posted, he he he he he. I was thankful this week for a fun little shop in Lehi Utah called Pioneer Party who makes the funnest balloon boquets and has fun and clever gift ideas. It’s so great to be able to call them and have them do some fun things for me who is too far away. Thanks for picking up Kara’s balloons and delivering for me Skyler! You are the best!

We Empty Nester Thiot's
We’ve had a good week and kept busy and out of trouble for the most part. Dick was blessed to attend the Big Scouting Dinner this week for Friends of Scouting. They always invite a key note speaker who is wonderful. This year they did not disappoint. Laura Bush came and introduced the speaker, Condoleezza Rice who did a fantastic job of speaking. Dick got a copy of her new book “No Higher Honor”. He is looking forward to “finding” time to read it. She is a great speaker and a wonderful American. I hope you have had a good week too. Happy Birthday Big Sis

Saturday, March 10, 2012

There is something wonderful about Big Sisters. When you are tiny little girls, there is always someone there to Keep to Out of the Street and always there to play with. When you go to school, there is somebody a step ahead to teach you the ropes of the game. All through my life, I've been blessed to have an older sister. Today is her birthday and I have got a smile on my face thinking about her and her wonderful ways. She has always been an outstanding example of what I could be following in her footsteps. She's amazing and I love her very much. Happy Birthday Laurie!

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
This was Ricky’s week to be in Austin and San Antonio. He was hoping that Becky and the girls might be up to joining him in San Antonio for the weekend to spend a day at Sea World. It’s open now and he thinks that Brooklyn especially would love it and pretty sure Addison would think it was amazing too. Unfortunately, Brooklyn got a tummy virus and they weren’t able to go. It’s an interesting thing starting preschool, it seems that bugs surely travel about from child to child and more sick days happen no matter how many times in a day you wash your hands. While Ricky was away, their water heater decided to play a trick on them and fortunately, their wonderful home teacher came to the rescue and put a new cupler??? On it and they are back in business with hot water. Hurray for Home Teachers!

Our Lovers Lane Granges
I’m happy to report that our little Penny is feeling better and back to her “young” self again. She had one crummy week, but is back to smiling and giggling nearly non stop. It’s so good to have her back. She was a pretty sad little lady for a while. She’s still working at getting her new teeth in. You can see them in her gums, but they haven’t broken through. Maybe this week they will.. Jake, Tatia and Penny enjoyed a lovely afternoon at “Dallas blooms” at the Dallas Arboretum on Wednesday. The tulips, daffodils, and popcorn trees are gorgeous and a bloom. Every body is enjoying it unless you suffer from Spring allergies, then you might not enjoy it as much. Tatia and I got invited to a baby shower for a cute lady in our ward who is expecting her 4th little girl this month. It was so much fun to see all the cute PINK things for that new baby. What a lucky family to have 4 Girls!

Our Carmichael Thiot’s
With Charlie’s job promotion, he got invited to some training in San Diego this week and Mackenzie flew in on Friday to join him for the weekend. This is the first time since Keelie was born that they have had a weekend alone without children. I’m sure they are missing them but enjoying getting to sleep in a little bit and spend some fun time together. It’s Mackenzie’s birthday on Monday so this was an extra special extended Birthday gift as well. I’m sure Callum and Keelie are having a great time with their California Grandparents and will be glad to see them return later today.

Our LA Thiot’s
Last weekend, unknown to me, Pierce had a cross country adventure. A friend of his bought a new car that was shipping across the “Pond” to New York City. Pierce flew out to NYC and met up with said friend and then drove back to Provo with him in a jiffy arriving in time to say a quick Hello to Skyler and Kara and catch a flight back to LA for work on Monday. WOWSERS! Just typing that is exhausting to this mom. They had a good time and saw lots of our beautiful country or should I say, much of our beautiful highways. They did over night in ST. Louis where they had both served as missionaries, not at the same time but in the same place. That was a fun highlight of the trip. Stacy was a great sport and stayed at home keeping the home fires burning.

Our Provo Thiot’s
Skyler and Kara are alive and well. Sky called yesterday afternoon on his way to work and we got to catch up on life. He has such a great attitude about things and I so admire that about him. He is currently getting his portfolio in order to apply to the Creative Link oh, I forgot what it’s called, in his program. He is in the middle of putting together several ad campaigns, some video, some on paper that I am sure will be great. There are 80 students applying for 20 positions which is mighty stiff competition. I have no doubt he will be accepted, he’s got some sweet skills and I’m sure they will agree. There is a redevelopment going on in the old Geneva area in Lehi. When I was a little girl, Geneva was a steel mill and smelled BAD. When we would drive to Provo, we would have contests to see who the first to “Smell” Geneva was. I must admit, I was usually the winner. Sky’s campaign was chosen to design the new logo for the development. He promises to share that with me and when he does, I will with you.

We Plano Thiot’s
Dick made a fun discovery this week. Kara does the noon news on KBYU TV. Dick found a way to capture the broadcast and watch it on the internet. I loved watching the news with Kara telling all about the things happening in our world. She is not only darling, she is GOOD!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNdnOqI_6D8 One of the highlights of my week, was finding a doll house. Yes finding a doll house, someone had put to the curb for the trash man (or me) to take. I can’t wait to get started on the remodeling. It is definalty a fixer uper. Have a great week ya’ll! SLY Robynn
