Our Mansfield Thiot’s
When the Barnum and Bailey Circus Train pulled into town, we started making plans to go with the Mansfield Thiot’s. Brooklyn and Addison were both excited and Friday nights performance worked out best for us to go with them. Ricky got some sweet tickets and we had such a fun time watching the Tigers, the clowns, the trampoline jumpers, the tight rope walkers and yes if you can believe it, a motorcycle went on the tight rope too. Oh my goodness, those Circus folks are some of the bravest or craziest folks on the planet earth. We loved watching all their amazing tricks and stunts. Thanks for inviting us to go with you Mansfield Thiot’s. We were wishing that Keelie had been close by to come too.
Our Dallas Granges
On Friday, Jake had a test and officially completed his first area of rotation in Neurology and will head to Garland on Monday for his next area in a family practice doctors office for the next 3 weeks. He’s looking forward to learning much, much more. Tatia’s had a good week filled with visiting teaching and getting together with friends at the pool to try to keep cool. We’ve had an extra warm month of July. We here August promises to be even warmer so the pool is a great way to enjoy the heat. Penny will turn 3 months old this week. It’s hard to believe. She’s learned to giggle and loves to clap her hands and just giggle. What a fun little girl she is.

I had a good visit with Charlie on his way home from work on Wednesday. He was looking forward to going to scouts as they were working on their Personal Management Merit Badge. That’s the one you have to keep track of all your earnings and all your spending for 3 months and keep it all documented. It seems like that is a real challenge for young scouts to do, he was trying to think of ways to motivate them to keep it up. Charlie was a great boy scout and I’m sure is a mighty fun Scout Leader. Dick wishes he was in our ward serving the guys but I guess we have to share him with California boys too. Charlie sent Dick a cute picture of Keelie and Callum last night. That is the funnest thing ever when a picture appears on your phone. Thanks Charlie!
Our LA Thiot’s
Pierce called on Saturday afternoon and it was fun to catch up with him and Stacy. He was on his way back to the office where he had already worked 60+ hours and was thinking it would probably end up in the 70’s again. He was bragging about the beautiful weather and just sounded great. He and Stacy did get a chance one night this week to head to the beach for some fun and you’ll have to peek at Stacy’s blog where she spotted her first STAR in the grocery store. What a fun place to live.

I got a call from Skyler on Thursday morning telling me he was in Las Angeles with his roommate Chris Martin. Chris’s brother Jerry was getting married on Thursday morning in the LA Temple and Chris decided Wednesday night that he really wanted to be there. So he talked Sky into being his co pilot and they made the all night drive to California arriving just in time for the ceremony. Sky was hoping to get to pop in on Pierce at his office, but time didn’t allow that to happen. I was smiling all day thinking I had two boys oops men in LA at the same time. Even though they didn’t get to see each other, it was a sweet feeling for this mom. Sky and Kara are busy making wedding plans and getting as much done before fall semester starts up next month.
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
When Charlie was a little boy, the circus would come to Salt Lake the first week of October which is right when his birthday is. Several years, we went with our family and sometimes our big family to the circus for his birthday. We loved it and it brought back lots of memories going with Ricky’s family this weekend. We had a great time. This was kind of temple week for Dick and I. Our ward went on Tuesday night and then Dick brought our Youth on Thursday afternoon for baptisms and then I got to go on Friday and Tatia and Jake came when I got off on Friday afternoon and Penny and I got to be partners. Now today, Sunday, Dick is teaching the 5th Sunday combined Priesthood and Relief Society about the temple. He was telling me as he was preparing last night that when we got married only 32 years ago, there were only 17 temples on the planet earth, and today there are 134 operating temples and 15 more announced and under construction. That’s a lot of growth in temples. He said 85% of the members of the church, live within 200 miles of the temple. That is the best news of all. Nearly everyone can get to the temple in not too long. We are so blessed to be just 30 minutes away from ours. The Primary has also been learning about the temple this month and our visiting teaching message was about coming to the temple. Maybe that’s why it’s been on my mind so strongly this week. I do love the temple.
Earlier in the week, I had noticied when the sprinklers come on at 5 am, that they were not working right, so Saturday, Dick played Sprinkler repair man and did a great job of repairing them. Hopefully the grass will come back to life soon. Have a great week ya’ll, SLY Robynn
