Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Ricky and Becky hosted Easter this year and it was very nice to go as a guest and get to enjoy the yummy meal and those darling little girls and a very happy to see me grand pup. If only I was the person Rocky thought I was. He always makes me feel loved. Becky made a beautiful and delicious dinner. Thank you. We also got to see Brooklyn and Addison’s new bunk beds. They are so nice and both girls can climb up that ladder in a jiffy. They looked sooooo cute in their Easter dresses and I loved being there with them. It was so fun to meet Hailey and good to see Matthew, Becky’s brother and his darling wife. They’ve been in Texas for 8 months and it’s the first time we’ve gotten to see them. I was beginning to wonder if they really did live here.
Our Dallas Granges
Jake and Tatia are continuing to play the Waiting Game for their new little one. They have been taking LOTS of walks and hikes in hopes of them encouraging Penny to come join in the fun. She seems quite content where she is at however. Tatia’s due date is next Monday and her doctor promised if the baby hasn’t come by then, she would schedule to induce her. So there is an end in sight. Tatia is darling pregnant but not very comfortable and is feeling like it’s time!!! She has gotten some interesting advice on how to jump start Penny, from Jumping on a trampoline, to the Superman ride at Six flags to eating an entire watermelon on her own. I’m not sure which she is going to try today.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Little Callum gave us a scare this week when he had an allergic reaction to formula. I’m so glad he has such a smart mommy who got him right to the doctors and they were able to make him more comfortable quickly. You’ve been in our thoughts and prayers this week Callum. I bet Easter was fun with Little Miss Keelie this year. I’m guessing she was a very good Easter egg dyer and an even better Easter Egg Finder. I would have loved to watch her in action. Thanks for the swinging picture this week Keelie! I LOVED it!!!!!
Our Orem Thiot’s
This is the last and final week of having Orem Thiot’s. As of our next edition of Our Thiot Times, they will be officially the San Fran Thiot’s. Dick and Pierce should be leaving as I am typing and heading west in search of Gold, oops not in search of Gold, but to start an exciting new adventure in life. Pierce graduated on Friday and Dick, Stacy, and Sky were there to cheer him on. Many more of us were there in Spirit cheering him on and one of those was Mom Mom. Dick’s mom thought the WORLD of Pierce. She only new him briefly in this world, but I just know she is crazy about him watching all the things he has accomplished so far in his life. I’m glad heaven isn’t far away and that those dear family members can still feel close at special times like these. Have a safe journey you two. Stacy, I hope the time flies quickly while you and Pierce are apart.
Our BYU Thiot
Skyler starts Spring Term tomorrow. He’s enjoyed the weekend with getting to hang out with his dad. His cute friend Kara has been in Dallas this week so he’s been a little lonesome. Tatia, Jake and I got to meet her on Easter Sunday on our way to Mansfield. She and her family live about 15 minutes from Ricky’s family. She is even cuter in person. I LOVED her darling dimples and her fun family. It was a quick but very fun visit. Thanks Sky and enjoy your bunny buns she’s going to deliver to you. Several college kids are home for the summer. I makes me miss Skyler. We are hoping he can plan a long weekend home soon.
We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters
I’ve been home alone since Thursday morning when I dropped Dick off at the airport so he could head to Utah for BYU’s graduation. There was another couple from our stake on his flight heading to BYU to pick up their daughter. He sat next to a man on the flight with BYU cuff links on his nice shirt and he too was going to graduation. Exciting times for sure! Dick’s had a good time and been a good help to Pierce. Dick has always loved spending time with our kids and they adore him.
We had a sweet new baby born in our ward this week. She is darling and got me even more excited for Tatia and Jake.
I woke up early on Easter morning to see the sun rise and make Bunny Buns for my Primary Children. Can you think of anything much more fun. It’s interesting to me that when I ran out of children, Heavenly Father gave me 38 primary children to call my own and to love and spoil just a little bit. I got to do Sharing Time and teach about Easter. It just doesn’t get any better than that and then to eat Bunny buns after. WOWSERS! It was a great day.
I woke up early this morning to some very loud Thunder Bumpers outside. It almost sounded like a gunshot going off. I was relieved to know it was thunder. We’ve had a great lightening and thunder storm and I’m so hoping the rain is helping to put out the fires burning in so many areas in Texas. Our Governor, Rick Perry has asked everyone to pray for rain to put out the fires. If we could get the rain we got to head to them, they would be out for sure. I hope your Easter Sunday was a memorable one and that you had a nice day with those you love too. Have a wonderful week. SLY Robynn

Shower in a Box

Sunday, April 17, 2011

Our Mansfield Thiot’s

Saturday morning was a very bright spot in my week. My sweet mom and I planned a “Shower in a Box” for our Tatia. What that means is that people who love her and don’t live close enough to attend a shower, put together a virtual shower and packaged it in a box and mailed it to Plano, Texas. In Plano, we gathered dear family here and had a shower including the little women of the family too. What fun it was to watch the little ones painting bird houses for Penny’s room and learning to diaper baby dolls. Brooklyn, Addison, Kinsley and Aubrey were great painters and I’ve got four darling little houses to prove it. I’ve been so blessed to have the opportunities to be with my little girls lately. It doesn’t get old, I LOVE every minute I spend with them. Thanks for all the trips to Plano, Mansfield Thiot’s.

Our Dallas Granges

I have a feeling, if Tatia and Jakes little Penny could take a peek at her darling nursery, she would come tonight. What fun it has been to get to be a part of this fun time in making a little nest for a tiny little girl who is so loved already. One of my very favorite books is called. I loved you before you were Born. Every grandmother to be needs to have a copy of her own. It is the sweetest tale of how excited Grandma’s get before new grandchildren come. My sweet sister in law Kathy embroidered me a beautiful sampler that says, “Every time a baby is born, so is a Grandma.” I LOVE it and LOVE being a grandma.

Our Carmichael Thiot’s

Our Carmichael Thiot’s have had a tough and tender week in their family. Another family who recently moved from their ward had two little children who were just a few weeks different from Keelie and Callum. There little boy, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep last Friday. This has been very difficult for everybody who knew and loved them. Mackenzie said she has hugged her little kids a lot closer this week. It’s hard to understand when sad things happen to those we know and love. On a happy note, Charlie and Keelie called on Saturday to have some Face Time and show us Keelie’s swing set that they had gotten all set up. Keelie went up and down the slide and was swinging while talking to us. Dick and I loved every second of it. Thanks for your call you two!

Our Orem Thiot’s

This is the week Pierce has been dreaming about all his life. GRADUATION from Brigham Young University. YAHOO Pierce! With Tatia’s soon to be delivering a baby, Dick is going to Utah to represent us and then will help Pierce drive and move to California. Stacy will stay in Utah for a couple of photo shoots and then a trip to Dallas for her little sisters Missionary Farewell. Then she will head West to San Francisco to make their new home. Such Exciting Times. Pierce you are in my thoughts and heart big time this week.

Our BYU Thiot

Skyler’s bank account had some strange happenings this week. I hate to say this, but it was kind of a blessing in disguise as we got some extra chatting time with Skyler. I hope it’s all been settled and that he is back in business. He is busy on finals and final projects and is one busy man. You are in our thoughts and prayers Skyman!

We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters

Dick has been most helpful to me this week as I’ve been busy getting our house ready for the Shower in a box. He’s helped me get the yard in shape and helped me move furniture for the carpet cleaning team to come. Thank you Dick. I am crazy about you! There is something very nice about working hard to have an event, it’s fun to do and then fun to have things in better shape afterwards for you to enjoy too. Its funny how I live here and don’t even notice some things how they are looking bad until you think of someone else’s eyes coming and seeing things, immediately a list of to do’s can be made quickly. I need to repent and shape up just for us. Dick has a fun group of teachers, young men 14 & 15 years old, who love to come over to our home and play games and pool with the Bishop. Friday night Dick came home with his arms filled with chips and soda pop. It doesn’t take much to make those guys happy. Tonight is the Priesthood Preview for my Primary guys turning 12 soon. I get to fix root beer floats for refreshments. Yummy! Have a good week ya’ll! SLY Robynn

What a week!

Our Mansfield Thiot’s

Our Mansfield Thiot’s dropped in for a surprise visit on Saturday afternoon. Actually Graypa new they were coming as he had been to lunch with them. It was so fun to see those cute little girls and their darling parents. Becky and the girls had a fun day on Wednesday when they went to Aunt Tatia’s house for a visit. They made beautiful pasta necklaces and fed the ducks and saw the fish. Tatia and Jake’s apartment has some amazing walking paths and ponds. They loved it and can’t wait to come back for another visit. Tatia loved having them come visit.

Our Dallas Granges

Tatia’s doctor visits are now every week and the doctor thinks that little Penny is already about 7 lbs and 12 ounces and could be ready to come sooon! Those are great words to an expectant mom who is excited and nearly ready. Jake has packed his hospital bag and Tatia is working on packing hers. She has sure appreciated two sister in laws good advice and experience in helping her prepare for this exciting time. The ladies in our ward hosted a baby shower for Tatia on Saturday that was so fun. Oh my goodness, pink things are very fun and little Miss Penny is going to be very well dressed. I can hardly wait to meet her.

Our Carmichael Thiot’s

I left a voice mail for Mackenzie this week asking if she could call Tatia and share some words of wisdom on preparing for the hospital, what to bring, where to get things, etc and she called Tatia as she was on her way to the store to shop. Tatia said it was so fun to have Mackenzie along on the shopping spree to Target as they both love that place. Thank you Mackenzie for sharing your so recently used knowledge. What fun for these little cousins will have being so close in age when we get together.

Our Orem Thiot’s

Graduation is less than 2 weeks away. Pierce can hardly wait and he and Stacy have started packing up their possessions. Saturday night, Stacy’s sweet family were all at the Dallas temple while her soon to be missionary sister Katy went for the first time. Dick and I went and represented Pierce and Stacy. While working at the temple Friday and putting the folders together for Saturdays guests, I saw Katy’s name and couldn’t wait to come join them. We love the Brinkerhoff family!

Our BYU Thiot

Skyler has called a couple of times this week and I have loved hearing his happy voice. It seems that having Miss Kara in his life has been a very fun thing for him. She is darling and they enjoy spending time together. There are a couple of people I work with in the temple that are from Arlington and it’s fun to ask if they know her and they always smile and say, Yes, she is wonderful and darling. I think they are right! Sky’s astronomy teacher asked him this week if he would be interested in taking the advanced course next semester. He said it’s usually just for seniors, but was hoping Sky might like to be a part of the class. I don’t know about you, but I have never had a teacher invite me to be in their class. Shoot for the Stars Sky!

We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters

Dick left last Sunday afternoon for a week in Sunny Florida attending and presenting at Spectrum. He said he worked mighty hard preparing and presenting along with keeping everybody’s computers in Dallas working from across the miles. The best part of the week was on Friday when he got to play gold at a PGA golf course. It’s where they play the Honda Classic Tournament. He took some gorgeous photos as you can see above. I’m glad that he was able to do that on Friday after all his hard work. It’s good to have him back home and as usual, he hit the ground running trying to catch up with church work and everything else that waited some what patiently for him. I have to tell you, when Dick is gone, it’s a tiny bit fun at my house. I can get up when ever I want to, turn on the lights if it’s 3:30 in the morning and not disturb anybody. I love that part of it. And then the turn around, I can go to bed at 8:30 if I want to and have no noise disturbing me. I do miss him while he is gone, and six days is plenty to have him gone but it was a good week to work on some projects I have been wanting to do. I think my favorite day was on Wednesday when I started early working on a dust ruffle for Penny’s crib. Tatia had seen one in the Pottery Barn catalog (a dangerous place to look) that she loved. It was white with 3 rows of ruffles on it. Silly me, thought it looked like a fun project to sew. Tatia and I had found a king sized white sheet in her stuff when we were putting things away and thought that would make a dust ruffle. Sure enough, 12 hours latter, this not so speedie seamstress had it finished. If I do say so myself, it’s way girlie and cute. Dick and I are invited to dinner at Tatia and Jakes and we are going to put it on the crib and hope that it fits. Sometimes my measuring and sewing methods are not the most accurate. I’m crossing my fingers that it works. I found this quote this week and wanted to share it with you.
Learn to like what doesn't cost much. Learn to like reading, conversation, music. Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking. Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills. Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different.. different from you. Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction of doing your job as well as it can be done. Learn to like the songs of birds, the companionship of dogs. Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house and fixing things. Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of the rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter's day. Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others. Lowell Bennion

General Conference Edition of The Thiot Times

Our Mansfield Thiot’s

We sure had fun celebrating Ricky’s golden birthday on Thursday evening. Benehana’s has a free dinner coupon for the birthday person and so we went there to celebrate. It was so fun to see how excited Brooklyn and Addison were to watch our cute chef cooks right at our table. They were most impressed and we all enjoyed the yummy meal. Thanks for joining us Tatia and Jake too.

Our Dallas Granges

Tatia and Jake don’t have cable TV at their apartment and so they came to our home this weekend to watch General Conference with us. We loved having them. On Saturday afternoon between the morning and afternoon session, the ladies at Tatia’s preschool hosted a baby shower for her. It was at La Madeline and was I was lucky enough to be invited too. It was so fun to listen to all the good motherly advice they each gave to her. I loved it. She got some darling little things for the baby and it’s making it seem like it’s really going to happen to see little pink things. I think my favorite gift she got was a swimming suit with a darling hat. Oh my goodness, Tatia is about 15 steps from the pool at her apartment and I’m sure little Miss Penny will learn to love to swim during our nice warm Texas summers.

Our Carmichael Thiot’s

Keelie celebrated 3 times this weekend for her Golden Birthday of turning 3 years old on April 3rd. She got to celebrate with her Grandparents and some friends by going to dinner with them on Thursday evening. Then on Friday she had a Tinkerbelle party with 3 of her favorite friends. On Sunday, her real birthday, she enjoyed a fun dinner between watching General Conference. Dick and I got to face time with her in the morning. Unfortunately, she had just woken up and was not very talkative. We loved getting to see her on her birthday. We love you Keelie who is Three. We even got to see little Callum briefly on the phone, he was not happy and made a quick exit.

Our Orem Thiot’s

Pierce and Stacy have posted some of their furniture that they are going to sell before moving on Craig’s List. Some things sold very fast and so they are now living without a table, a desk or couches. Pierce said they borrowed a bean bag chair from a cousin so they do have someplace to sit. I’m not sure they were expecting things to sell quite so quickly. They are enjoying having Stacy’s mom in town this weekend to help her little sister Katy get packed up and move back to Texas prior to her leaving on her Mission to Sacramento California. What fun for both of those sisters to be heading west.

Our BYU Thiot

Skyler e-mailed me late Friday night asking for the instruction on how to make home made donuts. Now let me explain. In our house, I do have a recipe from Aunt Jerry on making Spud nuts, which are truly wonderful, but take a while to make, so in our house “Home Made” donuts consisted of opening a can of refrigerator biscuits, poking a hole in the center, and then frying them in oil on the stove and smothering them with frosting. Skyler said Kara wanted to learn to make them and so prior to watching the morning session of General Conference, they were going to make them. He sent photos and my goodness, they looked WONDERFUL. I just wanted to run grab a can of biscuits and make some “homemade” donuts here too. Sky and Kara got to attend the afternoon session of General Conference at the Conference Center in Down town Salt Lake. What a surprise when they were greeted Sunday morning to a FOOT of new snow. They made it there safely and thanks to Cousin Josh, who came and jumped the jeep after it was dead after conference, got home safely too. Thanks Josh!

We Plain’Ol Empty Nesters

First off, I need to apologize for the lateness of the thiot times. Sunday was filled with General Conference and it doesn’t get any better than that. I thought I could wait until Monday to report on our week. Dick left during the rest hymn of the morning session to catch a flight to Florida. He is teaching four classes this week at a conference there and is hoping to squeeze in some golf while he is there too. Nobody deserves a little break any more than he does. I hope your classes go well and you enjoy. On Friday I was at the temple working, and this cute sister who works there with me asked me an unusual question. She said “Sister Thiot, does your husband love you?” I quickly responded with, “Well of course, he is just crazy about me.” Then she said, “Now I know why you are so happy all the time.” I’ve been thinking about this little conversation we had all weekend long. Every time I think of my response, I have to giggle. I came home and told Dick about it and we have had fun telling each other all weekend, through e-mail or phone calls how crazy about each other we are. I loved General Conference. I love to attend at the Conference Center in Salt Lake, but even more than that, I love to watch it in my home. I love my home filled with that sweet spirit that General Conference brings. It goes way to fast, but thankfully, I have taped it so I can watch it over and over again. It reminds me of how much I love my Savior Jesus Christ and how much I love each of you. Have a great week. Our Family Ropes!

Saturday, April 02, 2011

Elder Richard Maynes talked about families being like the strands of a rope that working together make it strong. Mom came up with a new slogan for our family! We are certainly enjoying the first two sessions of General Conference on this beautiful Saturday. I have already eaten too much Conference Crunch. It is SO good. I'm done! SLY, Dad
