(This is Grandma Elaine with her sweet baby girl Bonnie. Standing in the door way is me.)
March 15, 1911 was a very wonderful day in this world. One hundred years ago today, a little baby girl was born to Joseph Stephen Morris and his beautiful wife Alice Elvira Green Morris in Neely, Idaho. Othella Elaine Morris was the fifth baby girl born to this sweet family.
Every year on March 15th I love to spend the day thinking about her. You see, she grew up and married my Grandpa, Archie Brown and gave birth to my Mom, Glenys. My sweet Grandma didn't get to live on this earth near long enough. She passed away from a ruptured apendix when I was almost 4 years old. I do have some wonderful memories of her both of things I actually remember and of things I've been told about her. My very favorite and also my kids favorite sugar cookies are Grandma's recipe.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I was invited to lunch at my cousin Pamela's house. After lunch her little 4 year old Oliver asked if I would like to make cookies with him. You guessed it, we made Grandma Elaines famous Sugar cookies. While we made them, I loved telling Oliver the things I remember about Grandma. I loved her so very much.
It's a wonderful time in my life right now as I have been blessed with four little grandchildren and one more on the way in just a few weeks. Grandma called me Bobby and I loved that. I remember her always asking me what I would like to do when ever we were at her home. She knew how important it was for her little grandchildren to know that they were loved by her.
For the past 50 years of my life, she has been watching over me and the rest of her children, granchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren from heaven above. My sweet mom and I said just this morning that we think she had a hand in choosing the fun spirits that have joined our family. Grandma Elaine, I love you dearly and thank you for loving me. I can still feel your love.
