Happy Birthday to YOU!!!!!
We are sure thinking about you and hoping you have a WONDERFUL Day!

Is it Really the end of August?

Monday, August 30, 2010

I am surely turning into a little old woman. It's more than just having the cub scouts come over and rake my leaves, and pick up my acorns. I have not turned my kitchen calendar to August yet. I know, today is the 30th day of August and at my house it still has July hanging. As a matter of fact, my dining room window is still painted with Welcome HOME Elder Sky! Somehow in my mind, I thought if I didn't turn the calendar, or wash off the window, July would just stay a little longer. I'm here to tell you that it did NOT work. Dick and I just returned from a Quick Road Trip to Drop Kick Sky at the Y.

He is officially Back To School, re-enrolled at Brigham Young University. It's been a WONDERFUL six weeks also known as Transfer Period to have him HOME. Sky is such a delightful member of our family, I missed him so much while he was a missionary and was so thrilled to have him come home. And now he is off on another adventure. I'm thrilled for him.

There is something mighty special about Provo, Utah and that great big Y on the mountain. Dick and I loved driving past places we went when we dated there and seeing where eachother lived again. I'm so very grateful that Pierce and Sky will be there this year of Pierce's Senior Year and Sky's Sophmore year. Those two brothers have followed eachother through school and I'm so glad they can continue for one more year. I loved getting to see Pierce and Stacy and their darling home while we were there and for getting to spend some time with my amazing family too. Family is the very best and Heavenly Father surely blessed me with a great one. It was extra fun to have Dick trapped in the car with me for 22 hours of driving home. He is such a busy man that I don't get many 22 hour times with him. Thank you Dick for letting us drive Sky to school. Thank you Sky for letting us help move you in and make your bed and go grocery shopping with you. I'm going to go in now and change my Calendar to August and start moving on with my life. It's been a wonderful Summer of 2010!

Happy 91st Birthday Mom Mom

Wednesday, August 18, 2010

August 18th is an extra special day in our family. Dick's Mom, Jetta Jarrell Thiot was born on this day in 1919. If she were still alive, she would have turned 91 years old today. She left us way to soon and we have missed her for the past 22 years. We love you Mom Mom! Thanks for all you taught us and for loving us from above.

Anniversary Week at the Thiot Times

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Skyler and I had a fun surprise on Monday, Ricky walked in right at lunch time. We had such fun making tacos together that tasted delicious. Sky said, “Mom you’ve got both of your bookends here for lunch, the oldest and the youngest.” It was a fun time, thanks for dropping in Ricky. Saturday morning Ricky called to see if the girls could come and play while he and Becky took in a matinee movie. Sky and I had fun swimming with the little girls. Sky pretended to be the big black bear from the Alaska movie last weekend and Brooklyn loved being a polar bear, her favorite, and hunting for salmon in the swimming pool. It was 105 degrees and the swimming pool was the perfect place to be. Thanks for sharing your darling little girls with us Ricky and Becky!

I am happy to report that Jake survived his first week of his 2nd year of medical school. He thinks his classes are going to be a lot of work but enjoyable. He is especially enjoying his pathology class. I am also happy to report that Tatia survived her week with five little people to entertain and keep happy all week. It was her final week of being a Super Nanny. She has a week off and then starts at Apple Creek Preschool teaching the 3 year old classes. I think those children in her class are going to love Miss Tatia. I know I do. On Saturday, Tatia and Jake went over to the families home who she nannied and took their family picture. I can’t wait to see how they turned out. Tatia has some sweet photography skills with her fun new camera.

When Skyler returned from California, he has slowly been unpacking his things. It’s been kind of fun to have him find something new to share every few days. At the first of the week he brought down two pictures that are now hanging on my refrigerator. That is the place of honor in our family. If you make it to the fridge, you know that you have really arrived in Mom’s book. Well, I hope I don’t get into trouble for making this fun announcement, but the pictures are of our newest Grandbaby who is due to arrive in January. Our little Keelie is going to be a big sister and what a wonderful one she will be. Mackenzie is having morning sickness around the clock which is not fun at all. I wish I was closer to be some help to her. I’m glad she has a wonderful husband to help when he can and a very sweet little two year old too. Congratulations on your 5th anniversary this week Charlie and Mackenzie!

This is anniversary week for Pierce and Stacy as well. On Monday, they will celebrate 2 years of being married. Congratulations to you two! Hope all is well, phone home when you get a minute or two.

Skyler’s friend Skyler came over this week for a pizza and movie night. Skyler works at a pizza place and she is really good at making pizza. They had a fun time together. Skyler got a phone call from a dear family in his mission inviting him to come to New York for the weekend next weekend. He didn’t even have to think about it or ask permission he just said YES!!!! He leaves on Friday morning and I think comes home on Monday night. He is planning to visit all 3 wards next Sunday that he served in and visit all the dear people he loves and misses so much. When he returns, it will be time to pack up and head back to Provo for Fall semester to begin. This six weeks has gone by way to fast, I was afraid it would and I was right, it has.

I have spent a lot of time this week shopping for placemats. You may think I’ve got a place mat addiction of sorts but that is not the case. Tatia and I were asked to teach a class at Super Saturday for Relief Society next month. The class is making scripture totes out of a place mat. They are fun to do. http://www.scribd.com/doc/14953545/Scripture-Totes This is the link to the instructions if you want to take a peek. I have been to Kohl’s, Wal-Mart, Target, TJ Maxx, All a Dollar, and last the best of all the game to Anna’s. Only Robynn Thiot could make a simple project into a major life event. Uggggg. I wish I wasn’t this way, but I did get three done for the display today and they are very cute. Next week I will take my camera and take a picture of all the fun classes they are teaching. It looks like it will be a fun day. Tatia and I are hoping we don’t get to may customers so we can attend some classes too.
Dick had a good week and is finally getting over his Jamboree cold that he caught. He’s worked a bunch and is nearly caught up after being away for two weeks. Hooray! Dick loved having the granddaughters over on Saturday afternoon. They just adore him and he does them. Stay cool during this HOT time of year. Sure love ya, Robynn

Let's Go to Alaska!

Becky and the girls have been settling into home routines again. Being on a different time zone for two weeks, can make life a little crazy until your body settles back into central time. Bedtime routines are getting back on schedule again. We had a fun afternoon on Saturday with the Mansfield Thiot’s. Texas is stuck in a very HOT weather pattern and we were looking for a way to escape the heat. The IMAX theatre at the Science and History museum was showing the movie ALASKA. Oh, my that sounded like the perfect escape to us and the Mansfield Thiot’s were on board too. What an experience that was to have that movie literally right in front of your face. Little Brooklyn had to cover her eyes for part of the intense parts. We loved it! Thanks for joining us Mansfield Thiot’s!

Jake and Tatia celebrated Jake’s last weekend before starting his 2nd year of medical school on Saturday morning by taking a trip to the Trinity River bottoms to do some bird watching and photographing. It was HOT and most of the birds were elsewhere but boy did they find some sweet bugs to photograph. They had a great time and got home in time to get a little more settled in to their house sitting home. They’ve cleared a little spot upstairs with their things to look like their very own home. Good luck on your first day of school today Jake! This is Tatia’s last week of being a Nanny and she is going out in style. The family she sits for is having two little visiting nieces she will tend this week too. They are looking forward to some fun days together.

Charlie and his Boy Scouts had an adventure on Saturday with a canoeing trip. Some how Charlie, bumped his phone and it accidently called Dick which was a fun accident for Dick to get to be on the canoeing trip with the Boy Scouts and Charlie at the same time. When Skyler returned from visiting Charlie’s family, one of the things he loved was how much Charlie’s ward loved his family. He said the young men in the ward thinks Charlie walks on water and he loved watching him interact with those boy scouts. He loved getting acquainted with our little Keelie and marveled at how she talks and talks and talks. Thanks Mackenzie for getting him to the airport on time. You are wonderful!

After being a one car family, I’m glad to report, Stacy’s car is out of the shop and back on the road, looking better than before the deer ran into them. Happy Day, all is well! I don’t know if Pierce has ever had a busier time in his life, outside of being a missionary. I miss him having time to call home and report in. I hope when school starts, things will slow down a little bit. Stacy’s job keeps her busy and she is enjoying her photography business too. Wedding season has kept her a busy gal and she’s enjoyed meeting some fun brides and their delightful families. I love peeking at her Red Poppy Photography blog and seeing the fun way she captures people in her camera. Go Stacy!
Our Sky Thiot
Skyler returned on Monday evening and has been busy every since. Tatia and Jake’s home had a man come out do some work on their house-sitting home and needed some one to be there, Sky loved being Ron Johnson and helping out the workers. He is never far from his phone where he is constantly getting text messages from friends, former missionary friends or someone he just met. I’ve even considered hiding his phone from him, just so we can have his full attention. One of the funnest things of the week was having him bring a friend from high school to dinner on Sunday night. Skyler Dunford met Skyler Thiot at a stake youth dance Sky’s senior year. They’ve kept in touch a bit and Sky ran back into her at the Singles ward. We all laughed a lot at dinner when you would say Skyler and both of their heads would turn. She is darling and it was fun to see her again.

It’s sure good to have Dick back from Jamboree. He keeps coming up with more things to show me. I’ve loved reliving the experience with him. He’s made some memories and new friends for eternity.
On Monday afternoon, my phone rang and it was my nephew Jordan. He has gone to work for the FDIC and is here in Dallas for training for 2 weeks. He was hoping to go home for the weekend, but the weather postponed his flight by 4 hours and it just didn’t make sense to be home for such a short time and have to drive so much to get there, so we got to have him for the weekend. I’m not sure I have laughed so hard or had such fun for a long time. Jordan Cline is one great man. We loved getting to celebrate Whataburger’s 40th birthday on Tuesday night with FREE Whataburger’s and having Manicotti and a swim party on Thursday night. Friday night international cinema movie night was great as well. I just love him and loved having him here in our home. We’ve missed his sweet wife Jamie and wished she could have come too. She stayed home with their new puppy Lexi. We are hoping to meet Jordan at the temple on Tuesday for a temple night together. I hope you have had a good first week of August, I keep reminding myself that this is the last month of extreme heat and that it will in deed cool down one day. Thank Heaven for air-conditioning. Have a great week ya’ll! SLY Robynn

Moving Along with The Thiot Times....

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Monday evening, Becky, Brooklyn and Addison will be flying home from California with Uncle Sky. They have had a great time in California. Brooklyn has loved Nana and Papa’s 3 big dogs. She is excited to see Rocky and he is most excited to know that his girls are coming home. I can hardly wait to see them; it’s been a long 11 days for sure. RIcky got to attend the 30th birthday party Saturday night for his friend Taylor. They have been friends since they were Boy Scouts together. What fun.
Our Barnett Granges
After a weekend of cleaning, trimming bushes, weeding, mowing, cleaning … the Cobre Valle Granges are officially checked out of the Martin’s lovely home and are now residing in the Johnson’s lovely home. It’s kind of a trick to fit into someone else’s surroundings and temporarily make it your own. Tatia and Jake are good sports and do it very well. They enjoyed an international cinema night with some fun friends in the ward on Saturday night and they discovered their new home teacher lives within walking distance of their new home. They are looking forward to some fun visits with them. Tatia has two more weeks with the family she nanny’s for and then she’s moving up to the Apple Creek Pre-school in Frisco. We are all going to miss those 3 little ones she has tended for the last year.
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
Charlie and Mackenzie and Keelie have had Uncle Skyler in town since Thursday evening. Each time I have talked to him, he has sounded like he is having a great time. I asked him what he thought about our Keelie and he said he was amazed at how much she can TALK and what a fun personality she has. He said she really likes him which is no surprise. He is one fun uncle and all of our little girls adore him. He is on the same flight as Becky and the girls and is hoping to be able to swap seats with the person assigned to sit next to Becky and be some help to her. I sure hope they have a fun flight home. Saturday, Sky was able to attend an amazing baptism is Charlie’s ward. There are 3 brothers, triplets who have been attending Boy Scouts in Charlie’s troop and they were all 3 baptized on Saturday. Their Dad joined the church about a month ago and now the three of them are members too. WONDERFUL!
Our Orem Thiot’s
When Piece and Stacy’s blog doesn’t change for over a week, I know they have had a crazy busy week. Pierce has been working both night and day on some projects to finish up the summer term at school and also the AD-LAB has kept his creative juices flowing. They are working on several add campaigns that are very time intensive. Pierce has sure found something he enjoys and something he is very good at. They were able to get their car back this week and Pierce said it looks better than ever. Once again, I’m so grateful that it was only the car hurt in the deer accident.
Our Skyler Thiot
Skyler arrived in Salt Lake late Monday night. Pierce picked him up at the airport and he and Stacy were a great host and hostess. He enjoyed his quick stay with them and was able to meet with the counselor at BYU on Tuesday afternoon. He is still waiting to hear from them on the decision to let him register for classes. He will for sure be able to take night classes but we aren’t sure about the day schedule yet. I’m crossing my fingers as I type which makes typing tricky. On Wednesday, Cousin Kathy P drove picked up Skyler and drove him to Gram and Grandpa’s house where he got to spend the next 24 hours. He loved getting to see family while there and loved meeting some of Laurie’s little granddaughters and playing with them. He loved getting to see Uncle Jeff and his girlfriend Jenn. He packed a lot of visiting into that 24 hours and then left Thursday afternoon for Sacramento. We’ll be glad to have you HOME again Sky!
We Plano Thiot’s
Dick started his second week at the Boy Scout Jamboree. Today is day 10 I do believe and each day he has recorded the highlights of the day on his Jamboree blog. I’ve loved reading about all the interesting things he has done and the great people he has met each day. Saturday night was the big Arena Show which was televised on BYU TV. I loved getting to watch it too and seeing all those Boy Scouts and Scouters there was amazing. He has been working with the technology team there and has helped keep the computer system running especially in the medical tents. I don’t think I had a clue how many people it took to staff such an event. They have thought of everything. At first I thought he was kind of going on a vacation, but now I am finding out he may need a vacation to recover from this one.
Last Monday, I made a list of 102 things I was hoping to get done while I was home alone this week. I wish I could report that they were all done, but instead I’ve still got plenty to do this week as well. One of the highlights of my week was having Kinsley Kate for a sleepover on Friday night. We had a lot of fun and I loved it. My grandpup Rocky has been a good partner too. Have a great new week ya’ll! SLY Robynn
