Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Saturday night was Ricky & Becky’s ward temple night and they wanted to go. Tatia and Jake got to be the babysitters as Dick and I had some Family History Training we were asked to attend. The fun thing was that Tatia and Jake drove to the temple and picked up the girls and brought them to my house for dinner and play time before we left for training. It was sure fun to see those little girls. Brooklyn will turn three on Wednesday this week. She is getting excited for sure. Her Nana and Papa are flying in right on her special day and will spend a week with them. What fun! Little Addy Mae has been concentrating on growing hair. She has the cutest little head of hair. Ricky gave her a trim to even out the long baby hairs and she is looking good. She is great at sitting up and she is so fun and loves playing toys. She loved my little telephone that rings and talks to you. She will turn 7 months old this week. It’s so fun to be a Grandparent.

Tatia and Jake got some fine practice with the little girls and with Tatia’s nanny job five days a week and Jakes Primary class, they will make wonderful parents some day, I hope not too far away. Tatia’s Beehives are getting ready for New Beginnings this week. All the Young Women will be singing one of Sister Janice Kapp Perry’s wonderful songs, “I Walk By Faith”. Tatia is accompanying them on the piano. I have LOVED having her come over and practice the song. She even lets me sing so she can practice with singing. I’m so happy for Tatia that she can work with our sweet young women. They just love her and I do too.

Keelie was the star this week in Carmichael, California. She is now the proud owner of BLING in her ears, yes that tiny girl had her ears pierced and she is also giving some thought to climbing on board the potty train. Mackenzie has a book that tells of signs to watch for when they are ready to start and thinks Keelie has gotten there and is ready to have her boarding pass punched and climb on. Good Luck you two! I just hope Keelie isn’t like her dad. When he had an accident, he couldn’t stand to get into trouble, so he would flush the evidence. I’m not sure how many pairs of big boy pants Char flushed. I love you Charlie!

Stacy started her new job on Tuesday and is one happy working gal. She is trying to learn how you get everything done in the day and is learning to set priorities on what’s most important to get done. Pierce is sure proud of her. Pierce is enjoying his classes and is has found a fine fit in the Advertising Program. Pierce has a very creative mind and is taking a creativity class that he is LOVING. He continues to love serving in the Provo Temple early Tuesday morning. Oh how I would love to be on a session with him there. I bet he is one handsome fellow in his white suit.

Skyler’s weekly letter was titled, A Sad Week. He told us how difficult it has been trying to comfort and understand all the suffering in Haiti with the recent earth quakes. There is a big population of Haitians in New York City and he has been blessed to teach many of them. He’s been glad to have the Gospel and the Plan of Happiness to share with them to comfort them in their time of loss. Here’s a quote from his letter. “The first night we couldn’t really understand the magnitude of what had happened until later on in the week. Thankfully, God provided many miracles to help us out during the week. On Wednesday night we had an amazing lesson with Janet about the plan of salvation. He found comfort and peace in the knowledge that God provides every single one of his children the same opportunity at salvation. I love that knowledge as well.”

I asked Dick, who is laying here in bed on Sunday afternoon with a horrible cough, what the best part of his week was. He said playing “Find the Bishopric” on Wednesday night. The youth group go to the mall and the Bishop and his counselors dress up as to NOT be found. Dick was wearing a sweat suit and was hanging out at Dick’s Sporting Goods Store where Skyler used to work. What a perfect place for Dick Thiot to be found. He had a good time and was finally found. He’s not felt well all week but finally started coughing so bad after church, they sent him home to bed. It’s kind of fun to have him home. I hope he gets feeling better with a day of rest. I’ve had a fast week. Seems like busy ones go by extra speedie. I enjoyed visiting teaching this week, watching Kinsley Kate, and my sewing lessons with Jenae were very fun. A dear family in our ward is moving this week. I will sure miss the Simmon’s. I hope you are all well and know how much you are loved. Sure love ya’ll, Robynn

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
We had a fun Friday night with the Mansfield Thiot’s. The Girls were invited to a baby shower for our sweet Rebecca’s soon to arrive twin boys. Becky, Tatia and I were invited and went together and had such a good time. The boys were on Babysitting duty and what a LOT of fun was had at our house. When we got home, the guys were watching the Dallas Mavericks play and there was an amazing fort built in the game room and their were signs that a LOT of activity had happened. The girls had brought the toys upstairs from down stairs and they’d had a good time. Kinsley Kate and her daddy Ben came over too and with Jake, Dick, Ricky, Brooklyn and Addison, a good time was had by all. I’d like to add a Grammy Nomination to Becky this week for attending the most baby showers in 36 hours for 4 Baby’s.

Tatia and Jake had a good week and on Saturday morning hosted a take down the tree party which I was invited to. Tatia LOVED her Christmas tree and couldn’t stand to put it away until this week, she finally got in the mood. She was right, it was so pretty and her house looked great all decorated for Christmas, but it was time to move along to the next holiday, Valentines Day. I’m happy to report that she is looking less Christmassy and more Valentinish now. Go T. I would like to nominate Jake Grange for the cutest Primary teacher Grammy Award. Little kids Love Jake and he them. It’s so fun to watch him on the front row in Primary with his six little 4 and 5 year old CTR’s who still can’t remember what CTR stands for. Maybe one more week will do the trick and once those rings arrive, that’s going to help too.

Charlie’s girls are back in town and that put a smile on his face. He said he really missed them a lot, but managed to squeeze in some fun while they were away in the way of mountain biking on a great new trail that a friend took him on. He keeps promising me that he is going to post pictures from the girls trip on his blog. I’m trying hard to be patient. I’m not too good with the patience thing. I would like to nominate Charlie for the husband and daddy who could pack in the most fun while his wife and baby girl were off having fun too Grammy Award. That was quite a mouth full.

Every day when I pray, I always ask Heavenly Father to keep our family well and safe from harm. I have put a great amount of trust that he will do that. This week he surely did. Stacy was coming home one night and there was a deer in the road. I’ve heard of people who suffer great injury to themselves, the deer and their cars. I’m so grateful that Stacy was not hurt and sorry to hear about the deer. Those silly deer need to learn to stay out of the road at night. That was the crummy part of the week but when Stacy was hired after the second interview at a Property Management Group, that kind of made the week a lot better. She starts her job on Tuesday and I hope she likes it. I’m sure the company will like her. Go Stacy Thiot! I’d like to nominate you for being the newest employee for the Grammy Award. Congratulations!

I have been in Jamaica for 5 weeks now, and I am starting to get a feel for the area. I still get lost because there are so many stinking buses to choose from and they all go different places. But the good news is I am starting to know the members here, and they are awesome. I wanted to tell a cool miracle story about one of our newer investigators, Roosevelt. He came to church last Sunday for the first time, and enjoyed it so much that he brought two more of his friends to have us teach. When we first got here we didn’t have many people to teach but now our weeks are packed from start to end. Being busy has its down side though; the time goes by too freaking quick. Transfers are coming up next week but I am hoping I will be staying here with Elder Merrill for a 2nd time, so we are both crossing our fingers and hoping for the best.

Dick wanted me to be sure and tell you that our little Granddaughter Addison, really, really likes him. On Friday night, he was the only one able to quiet her down and rock her to sleep. He LOVED it. Go Papa Thiot Go! After the crazy week he had, that was truly a blessing for both of them to have some together snuggle time. On Monday morning, Dick and I attended the funeral service for Brother Perry Fisher. When I walked out, I felt as if I had just come from a session of General Conference. What a great life he lead and what a great example he was to all of us left behind. Here is a quote from his last day on earth. “If you aren’t helping someone every day, You’re wasting the Lord’s time and your time.” Perry Fisher January 6, 2010 We will miss you! SLY Robynn

Twin Baby Boys Baby Shower

Friday, January 15, 2010

Our dear friend Kinsely Kate is going to be a big sister to TWO little Brothers. What fun it's been to crochet around little burb cloths for BOYS. We've been blessed with all these little girls which is DELIGHTFUL and now come the Boys. We are thrilled as can be. I couldn't resist tucking a little bear into the burb cloths for the shower tonight, and what a delight it was to buy TONKA books for the guys too. Posted by Picasa

Like the rest of the Country and much of the world, Texas was part of the arctic freeze that is blew in from Canada. Ricky spent a LONG time getting to work on Thursday morning. What usually takes 15 minutes took over an hour. For that reason, I’m nominating Ricky with the “Patient and Careful Driver” Grammy Award. When ice hits Texas, people go nuts. Some continue to drive 80 miles an hour and then brake and what a crazy mess it makes on the highways. Slow and steady most definitely wins the race on ice.

Jake returned to class this past Monday and is well into this new semester. They really hit the ground running sort to speak in Medical School. After a busy week, he and Tatia were delighted to get to meet Jake’s Aunt Nan who was in town for a job interview. Aunt Nan is Jake’s Mom’s sister and is a very fun lady. They had a fun dinner date with her on Thursday night and had a great time catching up. Friday night, Tatia had her Beehives and their Mothers over to her home for a Mother/Daughter Game night. They played the Beehive version of the Newlywed game to see who knew the most about each other. They had a really good time and for that reason I am nominating Tatia “The Hostess with the Mostess” Grammy Award. She had a fun time and said all the girls and their mom’s did too. Way to go!

We were surprised to find out that Mackenzie and Keelie were in COLD Orlando, Florida this week. Mackenzie’s mom took a trip to Europe last year and had a couple of travel vouchers that were about to expire and invited Mackenzie and Keelie to take a trip to Disney World with her this week. I am sure they did not order the Florida Freeze which made for a very cold week. It was warmer in Sacramento than Orlando. Who would have thought? For that reason I am nominating Keelie Christina Thiot the “Taking the Chilliest Vacation” Grammy Award. I’m sure they had lots of fun even with the crazy weather.

Pierce started back to school on Monday after being out of school since last April. That’s a long break and he said it felt good to have his time scheduled and a plan for each day. Stacy was most helpful in getting his schedule arranged so he could have his Tuesday morning free for serving in the Temple and evenings free to continue his job at the Red Lobster. He’s going to be a very busy man this semester but he is looking forward to it. For this reason, I’m nominating Pierce with the “Most Hard Working BYU Student” Grammy Award this semester. What fun it was to be given an assignment to take a tour of the BYU Art Museum and to be able to invite your darling wife to go with you on a mini date. Check out their blog for some fun photos. Love it!

Happy New Year! I can’t believe we are in a new decade! Holy smokes, time has flown by since Y2k. But I couldn’t be happier to be starting a new decade off on the right foot like we are out here in Jamaica, Queens. This was an amazing week here. Because of the New Year starting, we were going around and telling all the members that church would be changing from 9am to 1pm. After telling everyone we could find, something amazing happened. We had 110 people in church this week. It might be a lot of people enjoy sleeping in here, but we had 30 new people come that haven’t come in a long time. It was really exciting to see the Sunday school classes have standing room only. It is an exciting time to be in Jamaica.
I am sure the nomination for Grammy Award of “Most Enthusiastic Elder” will not come as a surprise to many of you. I so enjoy Monday morning Mail from Sky. You may want to peek at his blog to read the rest of the story.

Dick woke up this morning after going to bed following the Cowboys victory over the Philadelphia Eagles and said, “I’m still tired.” Have you ever felt like that after a good nights sleep? It didn’t take me long to figure out why. What a week this man had. Besides Monday night, he ran steady all week until 5:00 on Saturday afternoon. He taught 3 classes at the University of Scouting, He was the Public Relations Photographer for the Great Plains District Eagle Scout banquet on Friday night where he received the Distinguished Commissioner Award. He released and called a brand new Relief Society Presidency, attended Relief Society’s Weekly meeting on Thursday night, attended YMYW on Wednesday night and interviewed several ward members on Tuesday night. It’s hard to believe he also has a full time job. For all of this and more, I’m nominating Dick for the “Most Likely to wake up Exhausted” Grammy Award. I hope you have a wonderful Sunday and a Warmer New Week. Sure love ya'll!

Ricky, Becky, Brooklyn & Addison were invited over to some friends home for a New Years Eve party. There were 9 little children there and except for the 3 babies, they all lasted to ring in the New Year. I will tell you that the next day, Brooklyn took a four hour nap in an attempt to catch up. They had such a fun time and Becky made her famous 7 layer dip which is always a hit. Saturday afternoon we had fun having Brooklyn and Addison over while Ricky and Becky went out to lunch and to a movie. Grandparents LOVE having grandchildren over to play. Brooklyn was a good helper helping Graypa take down the outside Christmas lights. She and Addison LOVE to be outside. It was a sunny afternoon and we had a good time.

Tatia and Jake returned on New Years Eve after a Magical Christmas Vacation in Vancouver, Washington. Jakes family had lots of fun activities planned and a favorite was getting to take a beautiful hike on snowshoes. Tatia and Jake love hiking and love the outdoors and they sure had a good time and made some fun memories. Dick and I were happy to pick them up at the airport and enjoyed a New Years Eve dinner with them. They were both a BIG help at our Primary Pancake Activity on Saturday morning. Jake cooked 100’s of pancakes and they were DELICIUOS as children kept coming back for more. Tatia and I had a fun sewing project on New Years afternoon and have got plans for a couple of more. I love it!

Charlie, Mackenzie and Keelie got to help take down Christmas Decorations on New Years Day at Mackenzie’s families home and at their home too. Keelie was quite an amazing helper too. Later that day, one of my favorite things happened. Jake, Dick, Tatia and Charlie were playing the Wii together. There is some amazing way to play over the internet. Charlie was on the cell phone and I could hear Keelie in the background and it was almost, not quite, but almost as fun as having Charlie right there with us. Dick has never played the Wii and so he had a bit of a learning curve. He was improving after a while but surely had a good time even if he didn’t win. Charlie was the winner. Thanks Charlie! Thanks Mackenzie for sharing him with us.

Early Tuesday morning, I’m talking at 4:15 am, we left Plano for the airport to take Pierce & Stacy to catch their flight home after their 12 Days of Christmas. When we made our plans for them to come on Monday, we thought they had a 6 pm flight instead of 6 am and thought we would have time to work on some sewing projects that Stacy had purchased fabric to make. I was both sad and glad that Pierce had checked the tickets carefully and realized they were the am and not the pm flight home. Our time with Pierce and Stacy was cut short but we are grateful for the time we got. Now Pierce starts school on Monday and Stacy enjoys life as a graduate. Pierce had to work on New Years Eve and at 10 minutes to 10, a party of 12 came in and he got their table which spoiled his chance of getting off to ring in the new year with Stacy. Happy New Year you two.

I saw a poster at a bus stop for a new movie with Harrison Ford and Brandon Frasier, I think its called Extraordinary Measures, or something along that line. Anyways, on the poster it says if your looking for miracles, then make one. Well I can say this week I was looking for a miracle, and we received and amazing Christmas miracle.
I got a text message of a referral, a Russian couple, Alexander and Yelena, from Missionaries in the ward that is directly next to ours. I called and they said they were busy until Sunday night, but would be happy to meet with us then. I was so excited to have spoken to a Russian person, that on Saturday and Sunday I was just counting down til Sunday night. (You are going to want to peek at Elder Sky’s blog to read the rest.)

For the past 8 years, Dick has been blessed to chaperone the YMYW New Years Eve Dance. He loves to go and ring in the New Year with so many excited youth. I have to admit, I’m not fun late at night. I prefer to go to bed early and wake up early. So it was very fun for Dick who can easily stay up late to have a fun group to be with. 2009 brought many blessings and challenges. I’m looking forward to 2010. I love New Beginnings and times to make good changes in my life. Happy New Year Ya’ll! Sure love ya’ll, Robynn

A blue print for 2010 by Dian Thomas
1. Place to travel: This can even be only two hours from your home. Many people have not even visited the fascinating place close to home.
2. Adventures: There is a lady near my place that takes people on short adventures every Saturday. I am going to call her and set some goals to go with her.
3. Food you want to cook or learn to cook: Look for new recipes you want to try or check out ethnic books to learn about new food from the library.
4. Restaurant you want to visit: One can virtually visit the world by going to different restraint in the area. Many of ethnic restraint have people working there that are from that country that can answer you questions about different food cooked in that country.
5. Friend you want to reach out to: Invite a friend to your home who is from another country, or knows something that you want to learn. Invite them for the evening to have dinner and to chat. In this way you can enrich both of your lives.
6. Make plan to improve your health: Start a new eating and exercise program. A diet is not the way to go. You need to develop you own eating program that promote your health and well being.
7. Learn about your ancestors: Decide to learn more about your ancestors by doing research or by just reading the book that you have that has been written about them.
8. Reach out and plan something to do with extended family and friends: Plan to do something special with your extended family members. This year while I was in China I learned how to do foot massage the Chinese way. Since I have been home, almost every one of my family and friends selected that off from my “pick what you want” for Christmas list. One of them even said, I was hoping a foot massage would be on your list.
9. Call old friends: Make a list of friends that you want to talk to this year. Then each Sunday take a few names and call. This does not take too much time but will mean a great deal to the people that you call.
10. Do something special for you: This could be going to a spa, learning a new language, or just taking a day off to be with yourself.
Remember that there is not a building that is built without a blue print. So take a few minute and make a blue print for this next year and have a designer life for the next year. Have a great New Year.
