Happy 3rd Month Little Addison Mae! Every day that goes by I love you even more. It's been too long since I've seen you. SLY Grammy
I got a phone call from Ricky last Sunday night telling me that Brooklyn wanted to come for a visit. Now, let me tell you, there is not a phone call from Mansfield that could make me any happier. On Tuesday night, I met Ricky & Brooklyn at the Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine. We thought it might be a bout half way between us. The traffic was much better coming from the north, than coming from the south. I got some extra time in the most testosterone filled store I have ever been in before. I’ve never seen so much man gear ever. I found a sweet ride to sit on and wait for them after looking at the BIG fish and all the flannel shirts. When they arrived, Brooklyn grabbed my cheeks, which are still healing from the visit to the dermatologist last week and said, “Oh Grammy, you are so pretty.” I just melted. I love that tiny girl. It was another one of those wonderful Grandmother Moments, just like Keelie clapping after my talk last monthJ

Tatia and Jake came over on Tuesday night to visit with Brooklyn. She adores both of them and it was so fun to have them here. On Wednesday morning, it was NOT raining and we decided to celebrate at Celebration Park. We called Tatia and her kids and they were available to come and play with us. Wednesday is the day they clean the splash park, and since it was too cool to splash, it worked perfect for us. We had a very fun time together. Jake was able to attend a get together at a professors home on White Rock Lake on Saturday night. Tatia and I were helping with either setting up or taking down the dinner at the church and then got to attend the Relief Society Broadcast together. It had been a long time since we had been able to go together so it was extra nice.

Charlie started off the week doing some work on their car on the brakes. He thought all had gone well until he was on his way to work on Tuesday and had a problem. He was able to get it fixed on his lunch hour but in the hurry to get everything put away and cleaned up, he locked his keys in the trunk. There are some moments in my life that I wish I had a rewind button for. Not so that I could view them over, but that so I could DO them over. Just 15 seconds would be so helpful sometimes. I bet that is how Charlie felt. Mackenzie and Keelie were great Resue Ranger and came and brought the extra set of keys to unlock the trunk and then were on their way back home. Thanks Girls! I’m sure you were Charlie’s Angels on Tuesday!

In between waiting on hungry Red Lobster Customers, Pierce has found a new skill set he had no idea he had prior to this week. Utah Valley is home to some of the best fruit on earth. This is Peach season and Pierce is lovely called Peaches so it was a natural for him to become a fruit drying maniac. He borrowed a fruit dehydrator from family and then he went to down. He’s done Peaches, of course, Apples, Strawberries, Raspberries and anything else he can find that he can slice and put on the racks. He and Stacy both love the final products and Stacy has loved taking it in her lunch this week. I’m thinking if he get’s tired of Red Lobster, he has defiantly got a back up plan. Fruit to “Dry” For. I love you Pierce & Stacy and hope you save me a few bites when I see you.

I can’t believe it happened again! Another sensational week has come and gone! After the baptism last week, this week was soo busy. We got two new elders working in our ward, Elder Pincock, and Elder Moore. They are really good room mates, so it is back to having 4 people in our pad, like the good old days. The highlight of the week was on Wednesday. The new mission president just made a brand new rule that you are allowed to go with recent converts to the temple for baptisms for the dead. We decided since the rule was effective as of Wednesday, to take advantage. We made some phone calls, and we had an awesome trip. 6 of the members of the ward got to go do baptisms for the dead for the first time. It was SENSATIONAL! Afterwards, they were all glowing, and were so happy about being able to go. It is such a blessing to have a temple so close by.

This has been a very difficult week for the Bishop of Plano 4th Ward. Arturo Edgar Carvajal, a sweet young man 23 years old, passed away on Tuesday morning from a brain tumor. Dick has had some sweet and very tender experiences with him for the past few years. We love Edgar and his family and will sure miss him. As Bishop, one of your responsibilities is to conduct the funeral service and of courseto support the family and help them through this difficult time. This is the 3rd ward member who has passed away in the two years Dick has served. It’s very difficult but a wonderful thing to provide that much needed service. I grow to admire and love Dick even more when I watch him giving such loving service. You are a great man Dick Thiot. Let’s hope for a little more boring week this coming one. SLY Rob
Bishop Dick just got a phone call from Edgar's Aunt Martha, that Edgar went to Heaven this morning at 5:30. What a valiant fight Edgar and his family fought to keep him here on earth with us, but it seemed that our Heavenly Father needed him more in Heaven with Him. Edgar told Dick recently that he was excited to begin his Mission in Heaven. He always wanted to be a Missionary and it seems like his Mission call came today and he has gone Home. Please keep his family in your prayers. This is so very very difficult for his mom. Edgar is her only child and she took such good care of him. She will miss him but I know she knows where he is and that he isn't in pain any longer and that he is happy. Edgar's dad passed away a little over a year ago. I'm sure he was there to welcome him home.

By Wednesday of this week, Ricky and Becky’s home was back to four residents and one small white dog. Becky’s Grandma left early on Tuesday and her parents later that afternoon and Blake in the early evening. What a great and fun filled time they had together. I’m sure it feels lonesome at their house. I hope Brooklyn is finally feeling better. Late summer colds are not much fun.
Our Cobre Valle Granges
Tatia’s cold has settled in her chest and she is a coughing machine. I keep hoping it will go away, but it seems likes coughs are the last part of a cold to leave. We had an enjoyable girl’s night out on Tuesday night before Lani went home on Wednesday. The 3 of us are sporting very cute red toenails. It makes me smile each time I look at them and remember the fun times we had together. Jake was invited to Boys night out at the Ballpark in Arlington with Dick and Ricky on Saturday night. He enjoyed that too.

Charlie’s family flew to and from Dallas on Southwest Airlines. They had some pretty sweet fares from Sacramento to Dallas. Little did we know how many different places they got to go to on the way and on the way home. They really got a sweet deal with a stop in LA, then El Paso and then Big D on the way and on the way home, Albuquerque then San Diego and then Sacramento. With a tiny traveling girl, a direct flight may have been a better way to go. Keelie did her best but had a few hard times. It was so fun to have you here, thanks for the extra efforts in traveling! We miss you already!

Pierce and I played a bit of phone tag this week and I kept catching him at work. I guess that tells you what his week was about. Stacy’s family was holding a family reunion on Saturday night and they were looking forward to attending. Stacy told me that her parents are officially again Texas Residents. Her Dad’s job in Puerto Rico ended and as of yesterday, they are Arlington, Texas residents again. I’m sure they will enjoy being close to their Texas kids again. Tonight, Pierce and Stacy are hosting the September Birthday Party for my family. It’s my dad’s birthday this week on the 16th! Happy 81 Dad!
Our New York Elder Thiot
With Elder Sky’s Preparation Day being on Mondays, and with Labor Day being on Monday, I wasn’t sure if we would get an e-mail from him this week. I was sure glad when we did hear from him on Monday. Here it is….
This week was so flippin heavenly. I love being a missionary here in NYC! This is the greatest time of my life, and I’m so glad to be here right now! This last week was truly amazing! I probably sound like a broken record, but it was just amazin'. Because all the libraries are closed we are at a sweet Chinese internet cafe, so I don’t have too much time, so I will keep it pretty brief. This week we meet with all of our investigators and they are all still progressing. A lot of them have just a few little things holding them back, like work on Sunday, but we are working hard to help them get work off and do whatever we can for them. There are so many awesome people out here.
We Plano Thiot’s
I asked Dick what his best memories of the week were and he said, participating in the blessing of baby Addison and having Charlie’s family and Aunt Lani here with us and going to the Baseball game last night. When Dick golfed in the BYU invitational last week, he won closest to the pin and won some sweet tickets to a Ranger game including a very nice parking pass. We usually hike quite a ways to park. The seats were in the Tele-Mundo NBC 1st row. He thought it was going to be on the front row of the stadium, but it ended up being on the front row of a suite. He said he was disappointed for about 10 seconds. The suite was catered with all you can eat hot wings, burgers, hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, ice-cream, get the idea, it was a sweet suite. Ricky, Jake and Dick had a great time. Tatia and I rented the Hannah Montana Movie and enjoyed doing laundry and making her weekly bulletin board with the letter C. We made a caterpillar, a car, and a cow. The cow was maybe the skinniest, long legged cow ever. I need to work on my cow making skills for sure. We had a fun time. It has been a very rainy weekend in Texas. The Rangers played Seattle who are very at home in this type of weather and that may have given them the advantage and helped them to win. Dang, Dick said it was still a good time. I hope you have had a good week and that next week will be even better. SLY Robynn
These are two of my favorite little guys wearing Davey Crocket Coon Skin caps. Their mom is a dear friend of mine and is in the hosptial for a couple of days. Today was our lucky day to pick them up from the YMCA and bring them home for dinner and homework. The older one, had Boy Scouts tonight so I got to spend time with the younger one. He has an amazing imagination. After we finished his math and spelling, he started fixing things in my home. He fixed the plumbing in the little girls kitchen sink, he repaired Charlie's Green Tractor, he fixed the broken wheel on the little red wagon, he became a vet and treated clip clop who was struggling with a sore throat, he turned into a baker and baked me a pan of cookies and then sold me a knife to cut them with. I wish my mind could remember all the things he did for me. I love that little guy and he makes me smile. With Lani leaving this afternoon, and Charlie's family leaving yesterday, I was afraid I was going to be very lonesome and sad. I'm glad these fun friends could come by and spend the evening with me. What a fun time we shared. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Monday Morning at 11:00, we had a photo shoot scheduled at Target for 3 little tiny girls.
Today was Addison's blessing day. She looked so pretty and Ricky gave her the sweetest blessing. Addie Mae really liked her name and was a perfect angel while recieving her name and blessing.
Dallas Cowboy Stadium hosted the BYU vs Okahoma University Football game on Saturday night.
What an amazing new Stadium! WOWSERS! Go BYU!
You can even watch the game from the parking lot. Parking is $80.00 in this lot however. We opted to stay home and watch the game on TV. We LOVED it!
This is our friend Bonnie at her Baptism day! What a great day it was!
Welcome to Kneaders, all you can eat French Toast on Saturday Morning. YUMMY!
Celebration Park in Allen, Texas is AMAZING! Wet and Wild!
It's Crafting with Mackenzie, Lani and I. These are wipe cases and diaper holder. I know, they are darling!
Lani made us Sunshine Pancakes on Friday morning, so cute and delish!!!!
We took a trip to the Duck Park where I used to take Charlie when he was a little boy. The ducks weren't too hungry, but the play ground was FUN!
Take me out to the ballgame was a fun Wednesday night! Go Rangers! What a week this has been for our Mansfield Thiot’s. Becky’s Grandma (Gigi) arrived on Wednesday afternoon from California and Becky’s Parents arrived on Becky’s birthday on Friday evening and Ricky’s buddy Blake arrived on Saturday afternoon. They are experts at getting back and forth to the airport. The only dark cloud on the whole week was little Brooklyn catching a crummy cold. She’s not been feeling her best but has sure been a good sport. Her voice has dropped several octives with her yucky cough. I’m so sorry she doesn’t feel better. She’s enjoying her Nana and Gigi being there with her for some extra TLC. Today is the day that our little Addison Mae will be blessed in their Sacrament Meeting. What a special day this will be and what a lot of people are here who love her to celebrate with her. We will see you in a few hours Mansfield Thiot’s!
Our Cobre Valle Granges
Tatia and Jake have had a great week. We had Tatia and Jake over on Tuesday morning to celebrate Tatia’s birthday before they went to work and school. Strawberry pancakes are Tatia’s favorites and it had been seven years since she had been home for her birthday so it was a special treat for me to get to make them for her. Jake had his first test this week and he did a super job on it. Heavenly Father has surely blessed him with a great mind and Jake has such great study habits. We are all proud of you Jake! Tatia and Jake hosted our Saturday Night Pre-Game Dinner party at their lovely home. We cooked burgers and hot dogs and Lani made her famous cheese dip and Charlie picked out the yummiest watermelon we’ve had all summer. We ate and then the boys moved to our house for the BYU vs OU Football Game. The girls got to stay and visit and then Becky’s Team drove back to Mansfield. What a fun night, thanks to BYU Winning!
Our Carmichael Thiot’s
I have to keep pinching myself to believe Charlie, Mackenzie and Keelie are really here. I just love having them here and the time is zipping by way to fast. We picked them up at airport on Wednesday and headed to El Fenix for dinner and then off to the Ranger Baseball game. Ricky, Becky, Brooklyn, Addie and Grandma Gloria came to, only Becky, Addie and Gloria opted to head home to the airconditioning. We had a good time and the Rangers Won!!! Charlie was able to golf in the BYU invitational Golf Tournament on Friday morning and Dick and Charlie’s team came in 3rd place. WOWSERS! Well done you two! Mackenzie and Lani and I have been doing some fun crafting projects that Mackenzie brought with her. It’s been a very fun time. We found a new park in Allen, thanks to cousin Pamela and had a very fun time there. Tatia and her little ones joined us and we loved it.
Our Orem Thiot’s
We have surely missed our Orem Thiot’s this week. Stacy started classes this week and is off to a great start for her final semester of school.. Graduation is on the horizon for December. Pierce is not taking any classes this semester as the Advertising Program begins in January. He will work full time at the Red Lobster in Orem which he enjoys. We had a visit from our home teacher last month, who had been in the Provo/Orem area for a trip and he mentioned that Pierce had served them dinner. He said he did an excellent job and he had enjoyed catching up with Pierce. I loved that. On Saturday night, Pierce worked the Super Server job where he walks around checking on everybody and what he really did was to walk around updating everybody on the score to the BYU football game. You see, they were in Dallas playing at the brand new Cowboy Stadium against Oklahoma University. We were not predicted to win or to even do very well against them, but as in BYU style, we surprised even ourselves and won by one point in the last few minutes of the game. GO BYU!
Our New York Elder Thiot
It was Elder Sky’s birthday on Monday. I missed getting to serve him breakfast in bed and take extra good care of him. Last year he was home on his birthday recovering from the illness he picked up in Russia. I’m so grateful that Heavenly Father blessed him to recover and return to the mission field. There is a very special family in the Benson-Hurst Ward that he serves in that has adopted Elder Thiot. They have 3 little girls who adore him and they took him out to a Hibachi Grill (maybe like Benehana’s) for his birthday dinner. The Mom e-mailed me to find out what his favorite birthday cake was and they made it for him. What a sweet family and what a tender mercy of the Lord for this missionary mom to have another mom watching over my son on his special day.
We Plano Thiot’s
This has been an extra ordinary week. I’ve loved having family here. With Lani’s arrival on Wednesday, both of my brothers and both of my sisters have been to Texas for visits this summer. What a wonderful family I have been blessed with. It’s been my favorite summer for sure. Saturday afternoon we had a very special experience. We were able to attend the baptism for our new friend Bonnie Flanders. The missionaries taught her a few lessons in our home and we grew to love her as part of our own family. What a neat young lady she is and what a leap of faith to make changes in her life to be a member of the church. She asked me to speak at her baptism on the Gift of the Holy Ghost. After I finished, my little Keelie stood in the aisle clapping her hands. I’m not sure if she was glad the talk was over, or if she liked my talk, either way, it made my day. Oh I love that tiny girl and those two tiny girls in Manfield. Dick and I both voted that being Grandparents is the very best. I hope you’ve had a great week. Too. Sure love ya’ll, Robynn
On Wednesday afternoon, the Carmichael Thiot's arrived in Town. It is so fun to have them here.
