We worry. I worry. About lack of money, not enough clothes to wear, etc etc. And the bible does have something to say to believers on what mindset we should carry regarding this.

I shared this before in offering, but each time i read these excerpt from the bible it seems that i get a deeper insight to God's fatherhood.

Matthew 6:33(NKJV) - "But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you."

In the NLT version, it says "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need."

Very clearly, the idea of this verse is usually used to tell us to put God first and our lives will fall into place.

NLT is very clear about us that we need to live in the righteous ways of God, then only will He give you the things you need.

But what is it that we need?

In the NKJV version, notice, "and all these things shall be added to you"

What does "these things" refer to? Let's look back at the other verses.

Matthew 6:31-32
31
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

"these things" actually refer to the things that we eat, drink, wear. our material needs! Or in another sense, it could even be success in life! Why?

Let's take a look at the old testament!

In Exodus, we see the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. During the journey, they were in the wilderness for 40 years.

What was this wilderness experience for? Technically speaking, research had show that it should have only take 2 weeks for them to cross into their promised land. But instead, the children of Israel took 40 years.

Why did God make them go through that 40 years?

But do note, it was during this 40 years that they received the Ten Commandments (T.C). And the T.C, I'd say was kind of like another T.C, Terms and Conditions, for them to enter into the promised land.

And like how we remind children not to do this, not to do that, God does the same. He asked Moses to remind the Israelites not to go near the mountain twice.

And speaking again of Terms and Conditions, Moses came down with two tablets of stone, which i would say that are duplicates of each other, ten commandments on each tablet. Just like a contract with duplicates for both parties, God and the children of Israel.

So for them to enter into their promised land, they needed to keep God's commandments.

Matt 6:33, as we seek first the Kingdom and all His righteousness, or in other words, keep His commandments, we will enter into God's promises, a land of provision and success!

But i think, what hit me the most is really the fact that the commandments were written by God Himself.

You know we always say with the new covenant, the commandments of God are written in our hearts, we know it in our hearts and apply it. So who writes it there? God Himself.

For us to keep His commandments, we need to be touched by God, to experience His love with our hearts. And just like i mentioned, God wants to remind us and one of those ppl He uses to remind you is through His leaders that He has placed over your lives. As a leader, one must remind your people of God's commandments and love!

During worship, seek to encounter God, it is these God encounters that God begins to write His ways in your heart.

Only then, when you are able to keep your side of the contract, will you be able to enter into His blessings!

Had a GREAT weekend!

Well had cellgroup on Friday, took worship with Rolland preaching!

The sermon for cell group that week was about the Ten Commandments. And how they were like "conditions" in our contract/covenant with God.

a really good attempt for Rolland! because it wasn't an easy sermon and it was his FIRST time! zai la! haha.

for worship. thank You.

1 Corinthians 2:4
"And my speech and my words were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but with demonstration of the Spirit and of power,"

It's really not about how well you speak, how skillful in preaching or leading worship or in playing guitar, etc, its really about the demonstration of the Holy Spirit and His power that touches and impacts lives.

The verse goes on in the next to say "that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

And i figured, if we do not see the power of God, then our faith would have not much means to strengthen. It is really true.

I was, spiritually backslidden, but still attending church, strong in serving in ministry and all. All that time what kept me going was only this thought: God is real. Somehow. Just keep going and you'll be fine one day... I gues...

Yeah occasionally, did feel His presence, but never the His power.

Then came SOT. And i saw His Spirit's power demonstrated. And i saw my life change.

Just at the first week, it wasn't even at the peak of SOT but yet, the presence and His power was so strong and tangibly felt. I told myself that first week, on Friday, that i wanted to bring that same presence and power to my cell group.

I remember that day, i was sick. And i just ended work at expo at 7. Wasn't gonna go for cellgroup. till they called me and asked for chords. well i told Grace that i'll head down to play the second worship song. And i reached just on time when they ended the first worship song.

i sat down. strummed the first high strung E chord. and the whole atmosphere just changed. i felt well, just 5 minutes ago i was so sick, with runny nose and fever, but just when i entered and played that first chord, i was healed. And my runny nose was soon replaced with my teary eyes. God came, and healed.

I could see tears on other's eyes too. My heart just melted. God. I love You and Your people and its my honour to be able to usher your presence in to their lives.

6 months later. here i am, under training to lead His people. And i really wanna begin by telling them that God is here, that He is not just a guest you invite in your life; He is here to play a part.

The message of turning water into wine. John 2:1-11

What we learnt about is that God is only gonna bring us from glory to glory; and that what's coming up will only get better.

But lets look at this story differently.

Jesus was invited to a wedding. Just like us, we invite Him into our lives.

Somehow, they ran out of wine. Just like us, we run of "luck" and face problems.

Mary asked Jesus to step in. Just like us, we should ask Jesus to step in.

Yet, Jesus tested Mary; why should I help you? Your concern is not mine. Just like our lives, sometimes Jesus tests our faiths through time.

But Mary knew Jesus would help, afterall, she had spent time with Jesus almost His entire human life, she was his earthly mother! And just like us, if we spent time with Jesus, we would know that He would not leave us alone, for His Word says that if he lost 1 sheep out of the 100 He had, He would go ALL OUT to find that 1 sheep. He would still save you from the wolves, from the problems in your lives.

Having knowing all that.

Jesus was allowed to then work a miracle, and turned the water they had into GOOD wine. not just ordinary wine, but GOOD wine.

But really, the miracle can only happen if YOU allow Jesus to not just be a guest in your life. You must put your faith in HIM, allow Him to play a bigger role in your life, to turn that water life(dull, plain life,) into good wine.

And that is really the question. Will you allow Him to play a bigger role in your life?

And when your water turns into wine, other people will get to drink of it as well! people will see and taste the goodness of God through you!

That, is what i want to happen in my life. That Jesus may play a bigger role and work miracles in my life and through me, that His power may be demonstrated not only in SOT or in conferences, but even in cellgroup meetings and our daily lives. That my friends may taste Your goodness, that they may through me, experience Your power and love. \
