Shredding Some Yard Knar

Our friends the Murdocks have introduced us to "shredding some yard knar."
They are much more experienced than us, but this is our attempt at it.  We had so much fun

The BIG NEWS

Well I haven't posted for awhile...not because we didn't have anything to post....just because I was waiting.  We found out in October that Baby #3 is on it's way to the David Family and we couldn't be more excited.  Because of my last pregnancy and my miscarriage the Dr has been watching us very carefully and we decided to keep in on the "down low" for a little while.  I will be 11 weeks on Wednesday and so far so good.  We have had 3 ultrasounds and have seen the heartbeat in 2 of the three (the first one was too early).  That little thump thump makes my heart so happy.  The kids are so extremely excited.  They have known the whole time and have been very good about keeping our secret.  Harlee of course wants a girl and Trayton is hoping for a boy.  Here are two funny stories from each of their prospectives:

Harlee tells her primary teacher that we are having a baby and Rhonda asks her what she wants it to be and Harlee says : "Well that is where the problem lies....I want a sister and Trayton wants a brother and my mom says this is the last kid so one of us going to be disappointed"  She then tells Rhonda that "if it is a brother that is ok because since I was 1 year old I have had an imaginary sister named Curly so I guess that will still work."  Rhonda tried her hardest to explain that it isn't mommy's choice what we have it is up to Heavenly Father....I am still not sure she bought into that though.  They keep begging me to choose sides.

Trayton says to me the other day at lunch.  "Mommy it is ok if our baby is a sister cause Harlee really wants a sister and she already told me that I am her favorite and that I still will be her favorite even if it is a sister".  How sweet is that?

Both of the kids have been very concerned this time about it "working out".  They both have had alot of questions about why the last one didn't "work out".  One day we were driving in the car and Trayton asked me if it was "working out" and I told him that things were still looking good and he says "Mommy I think Jesus was up there in Heaven holding our baby from last time and decided that maybe we really did need it and and threw it right into your belly".  I had to take and minute and gain my composure before I told him that I thought he was right.   He is so sweet.  His concern is amazing for a little 4 year old.

I am glad they are both excited and and so grateful to our Father in Heaven that everything is going ok.  Our due date is June 26th, but the baby will likely be born a week before due to a c-section.  We can't wait!!!!

Moving Mountains

I have a sign in Trayton's room that says " let him sleep for when he wakes he will move mountains" today he tried to do that.  It seems that all major landmarks in his life are surrounded by a distinguished mountain.  Grandma Lou lives at the base of the mountain, uncle Nic and grandpa and grandma live by "M Hill" and aunt Dayna and aunt Tessa live in Pocatello near the mountains.  Trayton is always watching for "the mountain" when we travel.  On the way to Pocatello today Trayton asked me "mom what mountain is by our house" I told him that we didn't really have one and he said "we'll then I am going to ask Jesus in my prayers if he could move a mountain closer to my house so I can have one and know I am almost home" LET HIM SLEEP FOR WHEN HE WAKES HE WILL MOVE MOUNTAINS!

Yellowstone

Our school still has Harvest Break which means the kids are out of school for 2 weeks so they can help in the fields.  Obviously, our kids are too small to help in the fields but we take advantage of the time off.  This year we went to Yellowstone.  The weather forecast was COLD!  The high for our trip was 43 degrees and the low was 8.  We took the camper and bundled up tight.  The first day we stopped over at Henry's Lake to fish with Grandma Lou and Bill.  The weather was too cold to fish but we had fun playing football, card games, and watching movies.
Later that day we headed to the Old Faithful Geyser.
This is us standing in front of the Yellowstone Lodge.  Rick's Great Grandpa Littleford helped build this lodge.  He told Rick that they used to have to chase the bears out by banging on the floor every morning before they could start working.
The next day we went over to Cody, Wyoming to the Wild Buffalo Bill museum.  The kids loved this and the drive over there was amazing.  On our way home we saw a Grizzly Bear with her cub and 4 big horn sheep.

The next day we went through alot of the park.  We saw many geysers, hot pots, and saw lots of animals.  We saw 4 bull elk that were amazingly huge animals, coyotes, deer, antelope.  I spent alot of time taking pictures of them, but we will save those for another time.  We went and saw the upper and lower waterfalls and decided to hike clear down this staircase that was attached to the side of the canyon wall.  It was over 300 stairs.  I was so nervous taking the kids down there, but it was an amazing sight.  I don't know if my legs were shaking from fear or from the roaring of the falls.

We had such a fabulous time and are so blessed to have this great wonder created from God so close to our home.

Harvest time

We harvested our pumpkins last week.  I have to admit I am proud.  The two big ones on the left were grown by grandma Lou and we grew the rest.  It is the first time I have ever got them to grow

Trying to Be Better

I finally took a minute to look at my friend Joddi Murdock's blog and can I just say she is AMAZING.  She has posted more in the last week than I have in the last year.  She has such a cool documentation of their lives through her blog.....ok Joddi I am going to try and be better, you have inspired me.  I often think I don't have anything to post about, but the cool thing about her blog is it is just posts of their everyday life, which is quite the life I have to say, so if she has something to post so should I right?  So I thought I would post about a day in life of the David Family (during Harvest Break)..

A day in the life of Rick....
Well, I am not there to take pictures of him, but he is working hard at IME and having a crazy day I am sure!  I can bet that he has been bidding, supervising jobs, and keeping everything in line.  We are grateful for Rick and for all that he does.
When Rick gets home tonight he is going to get us ready for camping in the snow this weekend!

A day in the life of Sari....
Today I have tried to accomplish many things and that is what I feel like I spend my whole life doing.  I have done loads and loads of laundry (actually folded and put them away too), I have worked on my conference stuff for work, ran financials, and other misc work items, I have ordered shirts for the PTA fundraiser that I am helping to head up, I have worked on our Primary Program that I am in charge of writing, I have packed snow clothes for our camping trip to Yellowstone (brrrrrrr) and I have made a special treat for the family for our camping adventure.

I still need to make dinner, take Harlee to dance, and go grocery shopping.  I hope I get to go to bed at some point tonight :-)  Being a stay at home working mommy is exhausting sometimes but so rewarding because I get to enjoy this.....

A day in the life of Harlee and Trayton....
They have spent the day PLAYING (oh how would it be to be a child again).  The kids are on Harvest Break for 2 weeks so they don't have school.  They have spent the day playing together.  They have played dress up, Polly Pockets, cops and robbers, board games, and currently DISNEYLAND.  They came scooting through my kitchen on a blanket singing "it's a small world after all" they also had a Peter Pan ride, splash mountain etc.  Oh yes and they didn't forget their umbrellas cause they know we really needed those last year on our trip.
It's a small world after all
 Peter Pan

So if you happen to stop by our house in the middle of the day and it looks like a bomb has gone off you will know that we were busy "MAKING MEMORIES"

Christmas

We had a fabulous Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve at my mom and dad's and had so much fun. We pulled the kids in the sleighs behind the horses and had an ugly sweater contest, which was so much fun. The kids were so cute on Christmas morning. They were so fun opening their presents. Here are a few pictures from the fabulous weekend.

Disney Trip

I am slow on getting this up, but better late than never right? So we were supposed to go camping during Harlee's Harvest Break, which is the first two weeks of October. We had our trip all planned and then the weather decided that it was going to be a high of 28 degrees and a low of 15 degrees....not really my idea of fun camping. On the Thursday before we were supposed to leave Rick called and said "price Disneyland." I thought there was no way, but we figured out a way to make it work. We didn't tell the kids we were going and wanted to see how far we could get down the road before we told them. We put them in the car at 4:00 a.m. and they were like "where is the camper mom?" We told them that we were going to have to go and do something for dad's work first and then get to stay in a hotel and then we would go camping. They were totally game and rode in the car for 16 hours without complaining, asking where we were going, or hardly speaking at all. A miracle I KNOW! We got to the ocean when it was really late due to a wreck on the freeway and so we didn't get to show them too much of the water. We got to the hotel and the kids were asleep so we put them to bed. We got them up the next morning at 6:00 so that we could get to the park on time. We told the kids to go and look out the window to see if they could figure out where we were. We could see the big Disney Ferris Wheel. They didn't now, so we told them to go and look in the backpack. We had stashed Harlee's Cinderella dress and Trayton's Incredibles outfit in there. They got them out and were still confused. We said to them where would be the best place to wear these and Harlee was like "Well Disneyland of course" and Rick says "where do you think you are" and Harlee says "Dad I don't know (in her annoyed voice). Rick says "think about it" and then it sunk in and it was crazy from there. We had so much fun. We spent 3 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. We got rained on the first day, poured on the second day, and had sunny skies the last day, while everyone at home was getting snow. The rain was horrible. We wore raincoats and we were still wet to our thighs. The kids never complained once and we were able to see a ton of characters because they brought them inside of the buildings. Just as we were about to give in that day the skies cleared and we were able to walk onto almost all of the rides. We got to ride so many rides and were so glad we stuck it out. The kids had so much fun on the trip. I have so many stories that I could just go on and on. I hope this is a "mystery trip" that they will never forget.

We Love You Payton

It seems like all of my posts have been sad lately. We have been having lots of fun lately, but here is another sad post. Our dog Payton got hit on the highway this morning. We have had him since Harlee was 9 months old. He was such a good dog and loved our kids so very much. He was such a good gardian of them. I don't know why he got out of the yard and took off last night, but we couldn't find him when we went to bed. We looked again this morning and he had been hit on the highway between the time I left to take Harlee to school and when I came home. Our pets are a huge part of our family and we will miss him so much. I haven't told Harlee yet cause she is still at school. Trayton was with me and cried and was so sweet he said "mom at least we still have Harlee". What a sweet boy. He keeps telling me how sad he is. I am sure Harlee is going to be very sad cause Payton was "her dog". This is going to be a very hard "life lesson" for them. We will miss your wagging body and your happy smile Payton boy.

Touching

I read this on my friend's facebook today and it touched my heart deeply. Thought I would share:

What Makes A Mother
I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today,
I asked, "What makes a Mother?"
And I know I heard him say:
... ...A Mother has a baby,
This we know is true
But, God, can you be a mother
When your baby's not with you?

Yes, you can, he replied
With confidence in his voice,
I give many women babies,
When they leave it is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime,
And others for the day,
And some I send to feel your womb,
But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this God,
I want my baby here.

He took a breath,
and cleared his throat,
And then I saw a tear.
I wish I could show you,
What your child is doing Here...

If you could see your child smile
With other children and say,
"I miss my Mommy oh so much
But I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep,
On her pillow is where I lay.
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek,
And whisper in her ear,
"Mommy, Please don't be sad today,
I'm your baby and I am here"

So you see my dear sweet one,
Your children are okay.
Your babies are here in My home,
And this is where they'll stay.
They'll wait for you with Me,
Until your lessons there are through,
And on the day that you come home,
they'll be at the gates waiting for you

So now you see
What makes a Mother,
It's the feeling in your heart,
It's the love you had so much of
Right from the very start.

Brand Makers

A little over a month ago our friend Diana asked Rick if he wanted to join their team and run in the Grand Teton Relay. It is a team made up of 12 runners and they cover 180 miles in 28 hours. Rick agreed to do this. Keep in mind that Rick has not run since High School and even then he was a short distance runner. Several of his friends from school were going to run so he decided to join them. He didn't have very long to train. They took off from Ashton, ID on Friday morning around 11:30 and finished in Teton Village, WY Saturday around 3:00 pm. They finished 45 minutes ahead of their projected time and would have been faster if the race officials wouldn't have held them up at one of their transitions. Rick ran three different legs of the race and was runner 6 He ran 13.93 miles total. He even had to run in the middle of the night down a gravel trail with only 2 1/2 hours of sleep. The team covered the Ashton Pass, the Pass into Targee, and the Teton Pass, which are all HUGE mountains. The team had a great time and had lots of fun. I went over and volunteered at the finish line so I could watch them finish. I am very proud of Rick for accomplishing this. Him and his team amaze me.

Everything Thing is Going to Be Alright

There is a song and I don't even know who sings it but it says "everything is going to be alright." This song has been going through my head the last couple of days and it is true. Everything is going to be alright. Let's rewind a little it. On Thursday, I had my D&C. I was very nervous about having this procedure. As I kissed the kids goodbye on Wednesday to go with Grandma Lou I had this thought "I sure hope I get to see them again." Where did that thought come from? I have always been one to worry about everything and I started worrying what will happen if I don't wake up from the anesthesia? I worried all night about this and into the next morning. I got down on my knees and begged my Father in Heaven to allow me to get through this surgery and to wake up from it. Everything with the procedure went well and as I woke up in recovery I looked at the nurse and said "oh good I woke up" then I went back to sleep. Thank goodness for answered prayers. We had wonderful family and friends who helped take care of the kids for a few days so I could get some rest and recover. I was kind of in a daze for a few days. Now fast forward how do I know that everything is going to be alright? Well when I woke up on Saturday morning here is what happened:
1. My head felt clear for the first time in a week
2. Trayton was standing by my bed with a big smile ready to "feel me better" with his snuggles.
3. I got out of bed and looked in the back yard and Rick was playing fetch with the dog, who was enjoying every minute of it.
4. Harlee woke up and wanted to make sure we dressed like twins today. She wanted to be just like mommy.
5. The lawn got mowed and looked beautiful
6. The kids didn't leave my side all day and wanted to play with me.
7. All of this made me smile and I felt like ME.

Am I still sad? Yes I am sad for the little spirit that will not be coming into our home right now. I was so looking forward to holding that sweet baby. BUT everything is going to be alright, it is going to be more than alright. I have my family and my friends and they complete me. I am so blessed.

Trials

The Lord gives us trials to make us stronger right? Well we are facing one of those trials. I went in for my 13 week appointment last Thursday and they couldn't find a heart beat on the baby. They did an ultrasound there and then sent me down the hall to the lab for another ultrsound. I had the kids with me and they were watching the TV and Harlee was explaining to Trayton that it was the baby inside my belly on the screen. We had alot of ultrasounds with Trayton and I could tell that something was wrong. I finally asked the lady what she was looking at and she said the gestational sac I asked her if she could see the baby and she replied no. When she got done she explained that there was no sign of a baby. She sent me back to the Dr office and he explained to me that the baby never developed past seven weeks and that it is called a missed misscarriage meaning my body missed that I had miscarried. I was trying to hold it together the best I could and get out of the office. The kids were very sweet. They had a million questions on the way home for which I had no answers. I told them the baby had gone back to live with Heavenly Father and Trayton wondered if Heavenly Father took the baby out of my belly and put it in someone elses belly because they needed it. This made me smile. Maybe he is right. I was very upset, but immediately thought how lucky and blessed I am to have two beautiful children that I love more than life itself. They help me get through this hard time. They are very sweet and thoughtful and have given Rick and I lots of loves to "feel us better". We are both saddened that we will not get to raise this baby in this life, but know that we will be able to raise it in Heaven. This is my belief anyways. I believe that a fetus is a person from the moment is is conceived and I was told by a sweet lady at church that these babies are too perfect and all they needed was to gain a body and return to Heavenly Father. This gave me great comfort. We will get through this hard time and move on. Thanks for all the prayers in our behalf. We know there have been many.

So Far Behind!

Ok so I am so far behind. I always think about posting, but think I should load my pictures first and that never seems to happen. So here goes without pictures. What has happened since February? Well, we had an awesome Easter this year. The weekend before Easter we went over to Rick's mom's house and spent the weekend with them. Rick's sister and Rob came in from Pennsylvania. It was fun to visit with them for a few hours. The next day we had an Easter Egg hunt with the kids. It was alot of fun. We spent Easter weekend at my mom and dad's house. We had everyone but Dayna and Trevor there. We went to the City's Easter egg hunt and then had an Easter egg hunt on Sunday at my parent's house. It was so much fun as well.

In April we found out that we are getting a new addition to our family. Yep that's right baby #3 is on it's way. My due date is Christmas, but I will have to have a c-section so it will probably be born a week or so before Christmas. Terrible timing I know. I hope it will forgive us later in life. We don't know yet what it is and can't wait to find out. The kids are excited! At first they were hoping for a girl and a boy until I told Harlee that if it was twins it could be two boys and she quickly changed her mind. Hehe

We have had a very slow start to summer. The weather has been chilly and we are hoping it will warm up soon. Harlee graduated from Kindergarten and did such a great job. I can't believe she will be in first grade next year. She also had her dance recital and did a great job this year. She was amazing and dance so great.

This summer I put both Harlee and Trayton in gymnastics. They have only gone once but are loving it. Trayton especially. He was pretty shy going in but listened so well and did exactly what they told him to do. When the class was over he came out and told me that he was "AMAZING". I will have to record them doing their class. They are both so funny.

We are so glad to have Dayna and Trevor and the boys back home and to get to spend some time with them this summer. We missed them so much while they were gone. We have sold our pick-up truck camper and are hoping to buy another camper soon so we can get some camping in this summer.

Well that is a quick catch-up on us. I will try and add some pictures later.

About Me

Sari, Rick, Harlee and Trayton. Happy family. Always running. Busy, busy, busy...
