You know you have triplets...

When...your best friend has to tape the lid shut on her fish tank.

We went to JoAnna's today to play. Carter got a fish tank for his 3rd birthday. Well, about 2 months ago, we were at the house for a little birthday dinner. Carter proudly took the kids upstairs & showed off his fish tank. All four kids were upstairs playing while Nate & I chatted it up with JoAnna & Andy, downstairs.

The next thing we heard was Carter coming down the stairs saying, "Daddy, you need to give Jasper a whippin'." We thought, "Uh oh..what does that mean?" So up the stairs JoAnna & Nate went. Inside that cute tank was the contents of a jumbo sized box of sweet tarts, an Elmo backpack with poor Elmo's face plastered against the front of the tank (Nate said it freaked him out because that was the first thing he saw...poor Elmo) and approximately 20 or so random toys. Yep...all that in a normal sized fish tank. After some talking, the kids fessed up. Miraculously, every fish survived. Those sweet tarts are probably like cocaine to those fish.

We hadn't been back to the house since then. We'd meet at my house or meet at the park, etc. So to put my mind at ease today, Jo Jo taped the lid with scotch tape & removed it when we left.

I thought I told you, NO WIRE HANGERS

Some days I feel like ol' Joan Crawford; where I feel like all I do is yell. Ever have those days? Or weeks? Or months? While I would never beat my kids with wire hangers, I do understand the frustrations. I'm even familiar with some of the "looks" mommie dearest gave. With my mom, it was the upper lip curled under. That's how you knew you'd better watch it. I wonder what my signature look will be? I suppose I will ask my kids in about 10 years...if I'm alive. I'll make it, right? :)

What is it with kids acting totally different when they are with their mama? Nate always says to me, "I swear, as soon as you walk thru the door, those kids change." Its true. It is non-stop whining, fit throwing & screaming. It is "lets yell at mama & scream at her to get us a different piece of gum every 2 minutes because we know she will do it." And they're right. Three year olds are smarter than you think. Tell me that one day I will look at these days & laugh. Pretty please?

No kidding, I can barely move my neck & shoulders because they are so tense. Not to mention, my eye starting twitching today. Hey Nate? You're in charge of rubbing my shoulders & neck when you get home. I may even wear some of that face cream that mommie dearest wears.

Happy Earth Day, My Friends

"What is the use of a house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?"
Henry David Thoreau

I picked the kids up from school this morning & we went to the courthouse to help plant a tree. My mom followed us up there & my sis & her twins met us as well. I kept telling the kids we were going to plant a tree for Earth Day. And they kept saying, "Mama, who's birthday?" Finally I said, "Its the Earth's birthday." My kids & Ashley's kids were the only youngsters. They let them get in on some of the action....dirt! And we also scored a Red Bud tree to plant at our house.

Hell

Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little.

I bought a bike. And a kid trailer thingy. Nate already had a bike that he bought a couple years ago. We decided to buy me one as well & 2 kid trailer thingy's to go on the back. He can pull the boys & I can pull Isabel.

I probably have not ridden a bike in close to 20 years. Like, really rode a bike. I'm getting use to it, but holy crap, biking ain't easy. I need to learn to use the gears properly. It doesn't help that I'm so out of shape & have what I call, "A triplet belly". Its the most disgusting thing ever & I'm gonna be honest folks, it gets in the way.

But, Nate & I thought this would be a good way to get in to a little bit of shape & the kids looovve it. I guess I thought we'd be riding next to Nate and the boys. Then reality set in; Nate's about 14 inches taller than me and he's a dude. Therefore, his biking is a bit faster than mine. I go about 2 blocks over & you hear me start saying, "When are we heading back!? I'm not going anymore!" Lord, I'm pathetic. Tonight I just told him to go whichever way he wanted. I knew there was no way that I was keeping up with him.

So I'm hoping this biking thing gets easier. I will say, it is fun to see the kids so excited.

Bonfire

We've had some amazing weather the past few weeks. Of course, this means we usually gather at Ashley's house to play. It is nice living only 2 minutes away. She has a huge yard so the kids can all play. And a trampoline. And we can have bonfires!
