Bye-Bye 2012...

...and take our sickness with you.

Dropping Like Flies...

**OK, I wrote this tonight and it is Friday, but the whole time I talked like it is Thursday...see, I am all messed up.  Instead of changing things below, just know that it is Friday and not Thursday. :)**

So...here's the run-down...

Bo got sick on Christmas Eve and is still sick (Thursday) with fever and coughing and super stuffiness.  He is miserable.  He vomited last night in his bed because of coughing so much.  That marks his first vomit ever.  Really.  I didn't think his body could do it or something.  Now we know it can.

He and I had a full day and a half together when the others went to Grandmom and Grandads on Christmas day and the day after.   Here are pictures of us celebrating our sick Christmas together...

We did join in the present opening with the rest of the crew by skyping.  That was cool.

It's funny how having only one child, and one twin, can change how 'nise' Mommy can be, and therefore is perceived.  Bo wrote this while I was in the shower. :)

More cuddle time.  Rainbow always seems to invite herself.  We were thankful for the new Leappad for some entertainment.

Bo got to eat on a TV tray which was a real treat for him...

Then we got news that Noah had gotten a fever at G and G's and zonked out on the couch....

In the meantime, I started feeling cruddy.  We declared yesterday (Weds) as movie day and watched movies all day because Geoff, me, Bo, and Noah were sick...and also Luke.

Yep, Luke got sick too and has been throwing up and having high fevers.  He really feels crappy.

Swiss Family Robinson...one of my all time faves.

Today (Thursday) everyone was still sick....and tonight Will started with a fever.  Kendall is our only one still standing!  And she turns 10 tomorrow!

The heating blanket I got for Christmas is loved by all.  Yes, all.

We are having to miss Grandmom's big family get-together tomorrow because of this sickness.  Kendall is so sad because she loves those gatherings.  We are tired of sitting around and being lazy and are eager to be healthy again!   Although I'm tempted to be very annoyed at the timing of this family sickness, we still have much to be thankful for and things could be much worse, so I can't complain too much.

By the way, we never get the flu shot and I still wouldn't.  This is the first year we have been struck like this and I hope it doesn't happen again for a long time! :)  Still not positive it's the flu, but everyone has all the classic symptoms and it is lasting as long as the flu usually does.

Wish Kendall a healthy, happy birthday tomorrow! :)

Christmas Morning...

Kendall was our first one up and at 'em.  We finally went downstairs at around 7:30, but not before our top of the stairs pictures...

Bo's fever had been 103.7 the night before.  This morning it was down and he seemed to be feeling a little better but still not 100%.

Will was SO excited and has been so happy with his new toy...
(he has yellow gum in his mouth)

This has been a hit with the boys so far as well...
(more yellow gum)

The kids drew names to buy gifts for each other.  Kendall and Noah had each other...

Will had Bo...

Luke had Will and Will was very thankful (Indiana Jones hat and whip)...

Bo had Luke (NC State socks and IJ bag)...

Luke had also found arrow heads and fools gold at the shop on his recent field trip...

L, K, and W also made handmade gifts for everyone.  Some very creative and thoughtful things.  Kendall's sweetness sent me over the edge and made me cry (it was over all a very emotional day for me...not sure why I was so sensitive).  The kids thought I was nuts for that.

Will didn't draw Kendall's name but really wanted to buy her a gift anyway...craft stuff is what he had in mind.  He was so sweet and proud to give her those gifts.

Kendall has been wanting this style of hat and was so happy to get one...

Will got his much desired flame drumsticks and some ear phones so he does not go deaf from his playing!

Zoe and Junie both enjoyed some Fancy Feast from Santa...

The plan was to go to Grandmom and Grandads that afternoon and spend the night like we always do.  Bo was too sick to go and would probably get everyone else sick, so he and I stayed home.  I will not lie...I was very sad to have to stay back (G offered but I figured he should be the one to go since it's his parents).  Bo was feeling so bad that he didn't really seem to care.  We are still home together right now and skyped with the family a little while ago while they opened presents.   Bo has not been sick with fever all year...bad timing.  We are wondering if it's the flu...he has a terrible cold/cough, etc.  Either way, we have enjoyed our quiet time together but are still sad we missed out on the family Christmas.

Us right before the others left.  I may have cried like a big ole baby....right about the time when Geoff was giving the big kids a pep talk about being able to adapt and adjust in life to unexpected things. :)

His fever got up to 104.7 on Christmas night.  Here he is under my new heated blanket. :)  He has been enjoying his new Leappad, watching movies and cartoons, and having some new books he got for Christmas read to him.

I will always remember this Christmas...special in it's own way.
Bo, I loved having some special time alone with you on this special day and the day after.
You are a great kid and I'm glad for these chances with you alone to recognize it better.

Christmas Eve...

As is tradition, my mom went with us to our church's Christmas Eve service, then we came back home and ate Chinese (takeout) for supper, and exchanged gifts with my mom.

It was during the service that Geoff realized Bo was sick, as he kept nodding off and then fell completely asleep and felt hot.  He had been coughing but we thought it was just a regular cold/cough thing.  You can tell his is not feeling great in these pictures (in the green).

Kendall made Geedi her calendar as usual...

The kids were uber excited and circled (while dancing and chanting) around Geedi's gifts before her opening them.  Luke started it with special presentations of the first ones, and it went on from there.  It was pretty funny if you were there. :)

Bo even mustered up the strength to join the fun on this one...

With some of their gifts from Geed...

Poor Bo...

Someone was taking pictures of me...

Noah after spreading out his reindeer food from school...

Luke drama?

Bo was not happy about this situation...

(Noah in green now)

Gross!  But with Luke there in the middle it was too funny not to include...

After Geedi left, we went up to Bo and Noah's room and read some more Christmas books...

I was a happy mama at that moment and asked G to capture it for me.  :)

L, K, and W slept together in L and W's room...

Then Mr. and Mrs. Santa got busy...

Luke and Kendall's knees were knocking the handlebars on their old bikes...

Kendall made Rainy's stocking last year.  It makes me smile every time I look at it.  I love how I put the cat thinking of a fish and she put Rainbow thinking of a cat!  So true around here. :)

(major deal on this and Will is contributing :))

One to share...

Cookies and carrots and 'a cold one' gone...

For the record, our kids know Santa is not real, but we still like to pretend he is. :)

This girl was burning the midnight oil getting ready for Christmas morn...
