Time to EAT!

Allie turned 6mo. on Friday! It is CRAZY how fast this day has come. I remember with Malia waiting and waiting for her to reach these fun milestones. With Allie, I feel like I blink and BOOM! Half a year has gone by! It is so much fun to watch these girls together. We thought it would be fun for Malia to feed Allie for the first time. Malia LOVES being a big helper and LOVES being the big sister. It has taken great patience on her part not to ‘share’ all of her yummy snacks with baby sister.

“Are you ready Allie? Open big!”

“Mmmm Allie. Do you like it?”

Allie was a little confused at first, but didn’t have any problem eating or swallowing. All last week she was on antibiotics and I think she got used to the relfex of ‘eating’ from something other than a bottle.

After a first few tastes Allie was ready for more!

I think right now the spoon is Allie’s  most favorite part. But, I am not surprised at all that she was ready to eat. She is ALWAYS trying to take food out of our hands and put it in her mouth.

So happy and so yummy!

Kids…

… they sure can make it difficult to enjoy some of your favorite past-times. It’s a good thing they bring all sorts of other fun to the table!

Here’s us enjoying our first snowboarding trip in two years!

and way, way, WAY too much crying!

This past week Allie was diagnosed with RSV, and Malia with bronchitis and an ear infection. Needless to say it was an incredibly rough week with lots of antibiotics, tylenol, vicks, and a nebulizer. They are no longer contagious, but still trying to get better. Unfortunately, Allie’s entire routine has been thrown off and is no longer sleeping through the night… sad :( Here’s hoping for a better night’s sleep and for things returning to normal!

Growing up much too fast!

Allie is almost 6mo. old and is sitting up all by herself!

Malia will be 3yrs old next month and for the first time she sat still enough for me to French-braid her beautiful hair!

When it’s raining in the winter…

… head up to the mountain and find SNOW!

That’s what we did last weekend. We had so much fun inner tubing on Mt. Hood with the girls and Auntie Laura. Luckily we had plenty of practice keeping the girls warm at the beach, so we were plenty prepared for playing in the snow!

Allie was ready for a nap and falling asleep in Auntie Laura’s arms.

We got our work-out in… that’s for sure!

I love that Laura spends time with our family!

Even Allie enjoyed the tube!

You gotta love this pic!

DSCN2669

Malia sure had a blast!

DSCN2674

There is no way this kid could have been cold. She was so bundled up and lookin crazy with her goggles! What a goofy kid…

DSCN2677

Behind Malia is a little ski lift. Apparently where we went inner-tubing is where beginner skier/snowboarders go. Could this be the year Malia learns??? We will see!

DSCN2681

You had to have been there to witness this! It was beyond nap time and Malia was being defiant up on her little hill. Laura was trying to climb up to her, but she kept slipping and falling over and over! It was pretty funny…

Sledding down the hill!

Our adventurous family! Allie was getting tired but having a hard time falling asleep so we grabbed her car-seat out of the car, threw it in the tube and voila! You should have seen all the funny looks we got. Like seriously… do you really think we pushed the baby down the hill?

 DSCN2692

Hopefully the next time we are up on the mountain is because we are snowboarding! I can’t wait!

Allie is 5mo. old!

This post has been waiting for me to finish for a week or so now, the pictures are also a week late, which means Allie is going to be 6mo. now in only a couple of weeks!!! It is crazy how fast time flies with your second. I remember anxiously awaiting the time for Malia to be old enough to sit-up, roll-over, eat solids, etc., but now I am wishing for Allie to stay at this cute baby stage forever!

Here is our usual doggie picture to compare how much she is growing, so look back at old posts and see what you think! We think she is a chunk, and love pinching her fatty leg rolls.

DSCN2608

Allie is like the happiest baby ever! If she is fussy (which seems rare), its usually because she has gas or just isn’t feeling well. It is easy to tell if she needs to eat, have a diaper change, or a nap. Other than that, she is always smiley, super interactive, and LOVES watching her big sister pounce around the house.  Allie is at the stage where everything goes into her mouth, even her tasty little feet.

DSCN2643

Allie loves tummy time, and loves reaching for anything BUT her toys. She occasionally will roll-over from her tummy to front. While on her back, she can arch her back to look at something, but hasn’t quite mastered the skill of rolling back onto her belly. But… Allie IS really close to being able to sit-up by herself. She can probably sit for more than 15 seconds with out any help, as long as she is not distracted by a fun toy just outside of her reach. As you can see Allie’s hair is now long enough for fun hair bows, courtesy of Santa. And, if you look even more closely, our little Allie’s ears are pierced! Sorry for those of you who disapprove, but it really is so cute!

DSCN2622

Allie is still in size 2 diapers (and as been exploding up her back almost daily in her Target-brand diapers, so we switched back to expensive pampers which seem to do the trick), is wearing 6-9mo. clothes, loves her bumbo seat and excersaucer, still likes her swing and vibratee chair for naps, still gets swaddled for her long nap and bedtime, eats 5oz of milk when bottle-fed, uses her soothie binky occasionally to fall asleep when fussy (but if we catch her nap just in time and while happy, she doesn’t like to use her binky at all). Allie sleeps from 8ish to 6am when she gets woken up to eat but then goes back to sleep until 8:30am. I think that is all for now… soon we will start rice cereal and see what she thinks of bananas, applesauce, and all of that fun stuff!

Here are some comparison pictures with Allie on the left, and Malia on the right.

These are fun… in both of these pictures, it is their first trip to the beach at the very same age!

Our New Year spent at the BEACH!

We brought in the New Year with a wonderful and relaxing get-away to Cannon Beach, OR. The weather was amazingly beautiful (despite 30 degree temperatures), and it surprised us with ZERO rain! This was our first real trip since having Allie and we are happy to report that both girls had a great time! They make fun trips like this SUPER easy!

We loved our little cottage. It was within 2 blocks of the shops and a short-walk to the beach.

We could even see the ocean from beautiful bay windows in the kitchen!

Malia could not wait to get to the ocean! She was so excited! We laugh looking at these pictures… only in the NW would you see perfectly clear skies, the ocean, and winter coats!

We think Malia was confused by the fact that she was wearing her coat and gloves, but playing in the sand. She kept making “snow-balls” and throwing them at us.

We had a super long day this day, but were so glad that we got the chance to watch the sun set! It was beautiful! Even Malia got a kick out of the sun going ‘night, night' behind the ocean. Even now she will say “oh no! It’s dark outside! Sun went into the ocean!”
