a VERY long post...
To kick-off Aaron's spring break, Jessica and Andrew (friends from WSU), came over for dinner and boy was Malia a character! It seems that every day a new personality trait emerges from this little girl. Unfortunately, we have also been discovering the 'temper tantrum'...
Malia has learned how to do hi-5's and has become quite the 'copy-cat'. Anything you can do, she can do better... from smacking your lips, to making raspberries, to making that 'pop' noise in your mouth with your finger. She will try it all!
Malia has many favorite things in life: her green blankie, the musical seahorse that puts her to sleep when in the pack-in-play, the Tupperware drawer in the kitchen, the tampons and pads in the bathroom, socks... any socks... she loves to carry them around with several in each hand, anything with a button to push, the telephone, the pantry, and best of all... the BACKYARDIGANS!

Since it was Spring Break and our Anniversary, we decided to take a mini vacation to the beach! Our most favorite destination...
We found an amazing condo to stay at in Newport. We are usually Seaside or Cannon Beach folks, so this was a step outside the box.
(I forgot to take my own pictures, so these are from the website.)
The view was perfect from the balcony.
And the insides were immaculate! It was so nice to just let Malia roam around without worrying about touching 'icky' things, which you would normally find at other beach houses.

We arrived on Thursday after some serious shopping in Woodburn and it was perfect! No rain!
But Friday was a different story, which was to be expected for the Oregon Coast, so we geared up for the wet day ahead. Before leaving, I couldn't help but take these cute pics of Malia in the rain-jacket she got for her birthday.
Little missy is a pro at walking now! The only problem she has yet to conquer is the change between surfaces. She can see that the floor changes from carpet to tile for example, but doesn' t quite know what to expect from her feet. It is fun to watch her hesitate over the change.
I thought that in this picture I should point out that yes, Malia has learned how to pick her nose. It is so funny how fascinated she is with the little holes on her face! Oh, and I guess I should mention that she knows how to find your belly button too!
Oh, last picture, I promise... before leaving the condo we kept saying to Malia "let's go bye bye! let's go!" and she was sitting on the bottom step like this. Well, it was funny that as soon as we got home, Malia walked to the stairs, and sat on the bottom step like so. I don't know what she is thinking, what it means... but is is so darn cute! Just a day in the random life of a 13mo. old I guess...
