You know it's is almost Springtime when...

the Daffodils are in bloom...

you can FINALLY enjoy a walk in the sun...

new teefers break through!
(Malia ONLY has these two, and it hasn't been till now that they have been picture worthy)

Pigtails!

Our little missy seems to be growing WAY too fast! What a cutie... These pigtails make Malia seem so grown up!
(Looking out the window was the only way to get her to hold still)

When the phone rings at home, Malia reaches out for it and either says "Whats that?", or "Dadda?"

a VERY long post...

I feel bad needing a 'special' occasion to finally update our blog, but to be honest... I am lucky to capture a picture of Malia doing anything these days as she has been very much on the move!

***

Let's start with this picture, taken a couple weeks after her birthday...
Please ignore her messy hair, but notice how much of it there is! Apparently this is the only part of little missy's body growing. At her one year check-up she measured 27inches, but only weighed 16 1/2 something pounds! Less than how much she weighed at her 6mo. appointment! This was news to us, as we prepared for the exciting change into a forward facing car-seat. We now have strict orders to 'fatten' her up... or else. But, despite our efforts, Malia will have none of it! We have tried all sorts of new foods, new tastes, new textures, and new silverware, but it seems that the best plan of attack is to smear the food all over her face... that way she licks it off, (especially since she won't eat from a spoon.) Picky picky picky!

To kick-off Aaron's spring break, Jessica and Andrew (friends from WSU), came over for dinner and boy was Malia a character! It seems that every day a new personality trait emerges from this little girl. Unfortunately, we have also been discovering the 'temper tantrum'...

Here little missy is hamming it up for the camera!

Malia has learned how to do hi-5's and has become quite the 'copy-cat'. Anything you can do, she can do better... from smacking your lips, to making raspberries, to making that 'pop' noise in your mouth with your finger. She will try it all!

Malia has many favorite things in life: her green blankie, the musical seahorse that puts her to sleep when in the pack-in-play, the Tupperware drawer in the kitchen, the tampons and pads in the bathroom, socks... any socks... she loves to carry them around with several in each hand, anything with a button to push, the telephone, the pantry, and best of all... the BACKYARDIGANS!

March 19th... Our 4yr Anniversary!

Since it was Spring Break and our Anniversary, we decided to take a mini vacation to the beach! Our most favorite destination...

We found an amazing condo to stay at in Newport. We are usually Seaside or Cannon Beach folks, so this was a step outside the box.

(I forgot to take my own pictures, so these are from the website.)

The view was perfect from the balcony.

And the insides were immaculate! It was so nice to just let Malia roam around without worrying about touching 'icky' things, which you would normally find at other beach houses.

We arrived on Thursday after some serious shopping in Woodburn and it was perfect! No rain!

But Friday was a different story, which was to be expected for the Oregon Coast, so we geared up for the wet day ahead. Before leaving, I couldn't help but take these cute pics of Malia in the rain-jacket she got for her birthday.

Little missy is a pro at walking now! The only problem she has yet to conquer is the change between surfaces. She can see that the floor changes from carpet to tile for example, but doesn' t quite know what to expect from her feet. It is fun to watch her hesitate over the change.

Off to the Newport Aquarium!

I thought that in this picture I should point out that yes, Malia has learned how to pick her nose. It is so funny how fascinated she is with the little holes on her face! Oh, and I guess I should mention that she knows how to find your belly button too!

I had a great video to share of all the fun noises and gibberish created by Malia, but it wouldn't upload. She LOVED the animals! (We've really got to go to the zoo!)

However, here, I think she thought that the little sea otter was going to get her. I guess she hasn't figured out the glass window concept yet :)

Swimming with the sharkies...

Later in the evening we returned to the beach to find that there was ZERO wind! It was great! Except for the fact that it was bedtime and a little someone was grumpy...

Saturday was a perfect sunny day at the beach. We took it easy, did a little more shopping at the outlets, and enjoyed a beautiful drive up and down HWY 101. When we got back Daddy and Malia played some more at the beach, and lil missy got to feel sand in her toes!

What a wonderful trip! We can't wait to go again this summer where we can enjoy some heat and warmth and really get a chance to play in the ocean.

Oh, last picture, I promise... before leaving the condo we kept saying to Malia "let's go bye bye! let's go!" and she was sitting on the bottom step like this. Well, it was funny that as soon as we got home, Malia walked to the stairs, and sat on the bottom step like so. I don't know what she is thinking, what it means... but is is so darn cute! Just a day in the random life of a 13mo. old I guess...

The End!
