Horseshoe Lake

On Saturday we went canoeing on Horseshoe Lake in Woodland. It was a beautiful day! Malia had a lot of fun especially since she got play with her friend Maren in the sand and in the swing!

Malia's SIX month party!

We asked Malia what she wanted to do for her much anticipated 1/2 birthday on Friday, and all she asked for was a trip to the beach AND the chance to finally eat something real! Yup, you've got it... We started Malia on her first solids today! She's been smackin' her lips an awful lot lately and figured what a better way to celebrate this milestone than to stuff our child full of yummy rice cereal!
Malia was born for this task... she LOVED it! We plan to stick with rice cereal for now, but can't wait to share all of the funny faces she makes as she tries new textures and flavors!

(Malia's second birthday wish.)
We could not have asked for better weather! Clear skies, no wind, 80 degrees... it was gorgeous!
Since Malia has started solids, Daddy now thinks that he must let her try everything he eats... oh dear...

Before we had Malia, we ALWAYS went boogie boarding together. Since the ocean is so cold, it is not really something that one would want to do by themselves... you really need the support of a friend by your side who is freezing there right along with you. Well, with Malia around, it becomes a little tricky now that someone has to be on baby duty. Since it was such perfect weather, we both could not resist the urge to boogie board so put on our gear and took turns handing her off in the ocean. She got wet from a couple big waves, but was so tired she really didn't mind...
After Malia got all dried off from her excitment in the waves, and after her long relaxing nap, we let her play in the sand... something she wasn't really old enough to do the last time we went to the beach, so she had tons fun!

Daddy's Little Girl

Malia woke up this morning to find that mommy did not have to go to work today! She was so excited! Even though we were having so much fun playing together, Malia began to miss her daddy because Thursdays have always been"Malia and Daddy" days. To uplift her spirits we found daddy's favorite baseball cap and she could not stop smiling and giggling!

After showing off for the camera, Malia decided to show you how good she is at pushing herself up off her tummy... the idea of her crawling soon just blows us away!

Our Learning Little Princess

We bought some fun books for Malia. She loves them! I tried really hard to get the ones that are "touch and feel." She really seems to have a good time!
Also, Malia's excersaucer has become her new best friend... with so many fun things to play with, she never wants to come out! It seems that with each passing day, she gets better and better and using her hands to grab on to things. Way to go Malia!

A Brewer Tradition

"Welcome to the Demolition Derby!!!"
Since we have been together, Aaron and I have only missed one Demolition Derby. Of course, as it is with everything, it was all my fault. That's right... the one year I managed to surprise Aaron with tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, he was actually disappointed because it was on the same evening as our "white trash excitement". I mean, what was I thinking?
Anyways... this year was extra special because we got to take Malia! Unfortunately, she was unable to completely fit-in since she couldn't stuff herself full of french fries and elephant ears, (something you do at the fair just because), but she still had a great time! So great, actually, that she couldn't wait to dream about it.
Since we figured Malia was out for the night, we enjoyed the rest of the evening watching the wierd people you find at places such as the fair, and even went to a Hypnotist Show. We would say it was a pretty fun night, even with our little Malia.

If Malia could talk, we think she'd be saying...

"Ahh! Not so close! I don't have my make-up on yet!"
"Oh my goodness! Are you like kidding me? No way!"

You can't keep 'em little forever can you?

I forgot to mention that Malia has actually been sitting-up by herself for quite some time now. (If you need a flashback of her lack of coordination, feel free to see her "Ms. Bobble Head Jr." video that was posted a little bit ago.) I guees she has things a little backwards because she would much rather sit-up than roll over. I captured this adorable face today and just cannot believe how much she looks like her daddy!
Malia is almost standing by herself now too!!! Can you believe it? Don't babies know that they are suppose to stay small forever? Just kidding... all though we loved the newborn phase, we are just even more in love with this age too! She is so much fun and just so happy!
Here is a little video we took of our big girl...

Our little rollie pollie

I know that I created a post a little while ago that said Malia could roll, but to be honest, she really hasn't done it since. Finally, last Thursday (I haven't been on in a while... sorry), we were able to catch her on camera. Yay! It seems that finally Malia has a desire to roll! She can only do it from her belly to her back, but hey, it is some definite improvement!

Malia's New Face

Malia sticks her tongue out all the time now... it is just adorable!
