AN SUPP new face, Temenggong Datuk Vencent Lau Lee Meng, a distinguished corporate and Chinese Community leader was said to had been chosen to face-off Wong Ho Leng (DAP) the incumbent Sibu MP (or other DAP candidate should DAP decided to change their candidate) in the next 13th GE.
In the last by-election in May 16, 2010 following the death of BN’s Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chiew (SUPP), Ho Leng garnered 18,845 votes defeated BN’s (SUPP) Robert Lau Hui Yew (18,447 votes) with a majority of only 398 votes while Independent Narawi Haron ( 232 votes).
The decision for Vencent’s political debut was made during a SUPP’s Sibu branch meeting chaired by its chairman Datuk Wong Soon Koh, who is also Second Finance Minister and Minister of Environment on Sunday.
Lanang incumbent Datuk Tiong Thai King was also chosen to defend his seat in the next GE where in the last 2008 GE, the incumbent garnered 19,476 votes against DAP’s David Wong Kee (14,612 votes).
