A weekend of firsts...

With the gorgeous weather Saturday, it was a perfect weekend to do lots of yard work. We recruited the help of Peter and both of us sure have the burns to prove we were out side! Madeleine was a huge help with the work...she sat in her exersaucer for hours...probably the most time she's been outside since she's been born.

Then on Sunday we bought her a "Jenny Jump" thing...this was the first time she's had a pink toy, all the other ones are blue for "gender neutral." Madeleine still doesn't realize she has legs, only feet and toes, so this one may take awhile.

Finally, we fed her rice cereal. This wasn't actually the "first" time she's had it, but it's the first time she actually enjoyed it! We mixed it up with about a tablespoon of apple juice with the milk...yummmmyyyyyyy:-)

And for the final "first;" today was the first time I realized our great friend, and somewhat brother Nate had a blog...talk about a horrible friend...I'm sorry Nate!

We're Back

After a long absence, I have decided to start posting again. I just couldn't stand looking at my awful blog without a fun background, honestly, it made me a bit depressed. So, if I some how fixed it, WOW, if someone else fixed it for me...THANK YOU!

My brother Peter, Madeleine and I were in Michigan last week for my dad's retirement party, which we surprised him for. We were to arrive Thursday night but since flying up there is always an adventure we of course missed our flight. It actually worked out well because Peter and I each were given our own room and $25 in food vouchers. Say what you will about the airlines these days, I was very thankful for what they did...especially with a 4 month old in tow.

It was such a great weekend! We of course made my dad cry then partied all night at his shin-dig...with 150 of his closest friends (you can see some pics from my cousin Holly's blog). The low temps for the weekend were 10 below and the high was roughly 10 above, although that may be pushing it.

It's amazing to see how much different Baby is these days, here hands are still the BEST things in the world, but her feet are a close second! And because we're bad parents and don't do "tummy time" it'd doubtful she'll roll from front to back, but she almost has back to front!! Oh, MarKey, thank you; Macie, our nanny, has been trying your sleeping trick with Baby...night and day difference!!!!!!!

Mark and I started something new this week, "No TV Thursdays." We figured we were spending too much time staring at the TV and not enough time talking and playing with Baby and Kitty. It went really well this week! If you're wondering why Thursday was picked it secretly because there are no good shows on that night....how sad, I know:-/

Our family and the golf cart my mom bought my dad.

Madeleine and Renee, my Maid of Honor, in Las Vegas a couple weeks back.

Peter is so good with her now!!!

Madeleine and her tutu which Macie made.

Madeleine's Blessing

Last Sunday, Madeleine had her baby blessing at church and Mark did a wonderful job! My parents flew in from Michigan which made the event extra special. The gown which Madeleine wore has a bit of history, it was also worn by her Great-Grandma and Grandma as a wedding gown. A family friend in MI "down-sized" it to fit Baby. Everything, including the beading, was original.

After the church events we had roughly 40 people over for lunch...yeah, LOTS of people in tight quarters. It was so much fun seeing all our great friends and family; thanks for helping us share Madeleine's special day!

I would have posted more but this one took way too long tonight! Anyways, here's Madeleine at 3+ months making noises...she's always talking now!

My weekend (In Madeleine's own words)

I had a fun weekend with Mommy and Daddy, who had 4 days off work!!!!
On Friday, Mommy and I talked to Grandma Stevens over the webcam and I sat in my Bumbo...I may still be a bit too small for it though.

Hi Mom...I think I'm getting a bit dizzy with my head bobbing around so much.

Can't say I didn't warn you!!!

On Saturday my friend Bennett came over and we played all day! We were having so much fun that neither of us took naps!

Bennett showed me how to play with the toys on the bouncy chair because I'm borrowing it from him.

We might be trying to dance?

On Sunday we all went to church...see, even the thought of it puts me to sleep!

And then it was time for another nap with my mommy and sister Kitty...I probably won't sleep much tonight, hahaha.

See, I had a BUSY weekend!! Good Night!

Battle for the Throne

Who likes the bouncy chair more, Madeleine or Kitty?

Mark: "Um, we have a problem with Tummy Time."
Betsy: "Yeah, what's that?"

I guess the picture says it all...
