Last night when writing about Luke's living room travels, I mentioned that he amazingly did all that moving around without ever putting one knee in front of the other. Well.....
Today he started CRAWLING!!!
Today he started CRAWLING!!!
Backwards.
When I was playing with him on the floor this afternoon, I tried tricking him into forward motion by placing toys just out of his reach. He would push up onto his hands and knees and reach and reach for them. When he couldn't quite get there, he'd start rocking back and forth, which would result in him getting farther and farther away. I started to gently push his legs forward, one at a time, forcing him to move toward the toy. After doing that a few times with him, I stopped and watched to see what he would do. Right away he started moving one knee and then the other on his own....one knee backwards, then the other knee backwards, then a big push backwards, and on and on...until he ended up here:
I thought it was really funny that he got himself under the table, so I decided to just watch and see what he'd do about it, rather than pulling him out.....
These pictures prove the point that as long as you have eyes in the front of your head, it's a good idea to stick to forward motion.
The result:
stuck between a basket and a hard place.
