my kids are cooler than me.

Oh this picture makes me laugh. Partly because of Davis's expression, and partly because, well, he's obviously a giant. He towered over every single kids in his class. Granted, we did hold him back a year, but he is also exceptionally tall for his age. He just turned 6 a few weeks ago and he wears size 3-4 shoes and is in size 8-9 clothes. Yep. That's my boy! I just love Davis, let me tell you. He's so sweet and tenderhearted. He's compassionate and caring, always worried about how other people feel. He was so nervous on his first day, but came home bouncing off the walls and so excited for the next day! I remember when I was kindergarten, I wore puff paint shoes and everyone thought they were so cool. I remember climbing on the fence we were forbidden to climb and I scratched my knee and I thought all my blood and guts would come out of this scratch but I couldn't tell anyone because I was to scared I would get in trouble from climbing the forbidden fence. And there was a creepy kid in my class who liked me and would kiss my elbows when he was in line behind me. And when my teacher would say something was "extremely important" I thought she was saying "screamly important" like I needed to scream it to my mom when I told her about it. My teacher was Asian and I could never figure out how she could see out of her eyes because every time I pulled my eyes out to look "Asian" everything was blurry, so I thought she couldn't ever see anything. (I'm not racist, I married and Asian ok.) But Davis is a boss and he's the coolest kid ever, he's going to love school!

And Rylie started 3rd grade! She is in a class with all of her friends and couldn't be happier. I remember when I was in 3rd grade, and I had a boy hair cut and kids would ask if I was a girl or a boy. And I remember wearing stirrup leggings and a Lisa Frank neon shirt. And I got sent to "the circle" once at recess cuz I moved after the bell rang and I came into class crying. And the teacher would call me Andrea with a mexican accent cuz, lets face it, I was the minority on Oxnard California. Oh, it was not my shining age or grade. But I look at Rylie and think "She's so much cooler than I was, she'll be fine."

The happiest 5K on the planet!

This was the funnest race I have ever done! I recommend everyone do one of these at some point in their lives. We had a team with some of my Young Women, Jessica, Kaylee, Meg, and Alicia. Our team as called the Saturdays Warriors. I thought it was funny cuz these girls didn't know what that was before we showed them the movie in our Sunday school class last year. And then still, two of these girls weren't in that class so they didn't know what it was. Oh, I felt old, let me tell you! So you wear a white shirt, run a 5k and get colored chalk thrown at you. Its so hilarious and so fun! I will be doing another one of these, hopefully with my kids!

Pancakes and Pajamas

Rylie got to have a friend party this year. It was "Pancakes and Pajamas" Everyone came in their pajamas, we decorated pillow cases, had a pancake buffe, played some games, at some cake and had a blast.
