29th Jan - Inspired by a Song

Today's challenge is ...
Inspired by a Song. Create a layout inspired by a Song, its up to you which one, it could be the song title or the lyrics that you like and inspires you.

Jinny
I chose Alison Krauss' Baby Mine and paired it with these darling photos of my littlest just sleeping during his first few months of life, as well as Citrus Twist's gorgeous January "Jameson" Scrapbook Kit.

Rachel
As a mother of teenagers The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars immediately came to mind!!!!!!! I typed some of the lyrics from the song on the journal card. I wanted to create a 'cool' teenage boy layout to tie my theme together. I can't wait to see what you create.

I took a backwards approach to this challenge- nothing popped out to me aside from wanting to use the world Wild so I did a quick google search and came out with Wild & Free by Ziggy Marley. Wild & free perfectly captures the spirit of my daughter, Skylar. The JustNick cut file was a perfect addition for this page.

I love all genres of music and it's a big part of my life actually.  I'm consistently listening to music is some shape, way or form.  So I love this challenge!  The song I chose, which was tough for me, is... You Make Loving Fun, by Fleetwood Mac.  What a classic!  It's the perfect choice for my layout of my newly engaged son and his beautiful wife to be.

Hello!! For my song I chose Madonna's 'This used to be my Playground'. I have such fond memories of the playgrounds in Germany. After many days on the road and sight-seeing, we were tired and just wanted something "normal" to do. So we found a local blog that discussed the playgrounds in the area of Berlin. We found this rock-climbing gem! Seriously, we don't have this kind of thing in the U.S. It was a fabulous two hours of play!

You have until 12th February to upload your layouts from January's challenges to the side bar.
Happy Scrapping!

15th Jan - Mood Board

Today Jinny has picked this lovely mood board to inspire you.

Here is what the design team came up with...

Poised Taupe, the gray color near right center of the graphic above, is Sherwin Williams' Color of the Year; so, I thought it would be fun to start 2017 off on trend.  Plus, this palette had me at hello and made me think of the colors of my son's old baseball team.  I couldn't resist tying in a little bit of denim, and the cut file I chose for the background was inspired by the graphic design in the bottom right corner.

This mood board is just gorgeous but instead of going with a modern theme I decided to go shabby chic. I have used a wood grain heart cut file and layered my layout with fussy cut flowers and butterflies. I look forward to your entries.

The bottom left photo is what captivated me most on this mood board. The grey, yellow, white and touch of blue along with the linear design were the inspiration for my layout. I added some texture by cutting some fringe and and popping some of the flowers with foam.

I always seem to struggle when it comes to a colored mood board.  And I think it's because of a trapped feeling, not being able to choose whatever you'd like.  So this type of challenge is good for me.  Thank goodness I came across this collection I had stashed away "For The Record 2" by Echo Park.  The colors are perfect!

Vivian
The Woodland collection by Pretty Little Studios was perfect for this mood board.  I chose a simple and clean sketch, added a few touches of stitching and voila!

We hope that has inspired you to get creating, if so please link up your layouts to the side bar, you have until 12th February to join in, for a chance to become our guest designer for a month.

Thanks for looking!

1st January 2017 - Review of the Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I hope 2017 is a good year for you all!

Welcome to our first challenge of 2017!

Today we challenge you to ...
Review the Year - instead of looking forward to the new year ahead, I want you to look back at the year you have just had! It could be a review of the whole year, something special that happened or your favourite thing about the year, or maybe it's one you would rather forget! it's up to you!

Jinny
I may not want to forget everything about 2016, but it truly was a difficult year for my family and I.  The downs far outweighed the ups; and at times, I found it nearly impossible to keep my head above water.  No one ever said life was easy, but I truly am reaching for that life preserver as we move into 2017.  That's what I've chosen to document, using lots of yummy goodies from past and present Citrus Twist kits, for today's challenge.

Rachel
2016 was a year of challenges for our family but a highlight was a trip to Italy, my husband and I celebrating 15 years of marriage and his 60th birthday. A very special time for us, child free!!!

Raechelle
2016 brought with it the good, the bad, and the ugly. We had a lot of change, a lot of emotional hardships, and several major medical hurdles for our daughter, Ashlyn. I opted to create a layout about one of the only major medical events we had some control over, Ashlyn's spinal fusion surgery. We have been sitting on this surgery for several years, in fact she was supposed to have it in December of 2015, but minutes before she was scheduled to go back to the OR, it was cancelled. We have been carrying the weight of this for a long time and it had essentially put many things on hold as we awaited the go-ahead to attempt the surgery again. Thankfully it is behind us now, although she still has months of recovery ahead of her.
Tracy
2016 was a good year for us!  I am truly blessed with a loving and growing family.  For my "Review of the Year" layout I wanted to show off my children and document an important highlight in each of their lives.  Like I said, it's been a good year and I'm hoping for the same in 2017.  Happy New Year to all!

Vivian
After two years of planning and saving, we got to go on our big trip to Germany in 2016. I have many pictures that contribute to the story, but this one says it all as my husband and son are looking out over the Alps.

How was the last year for you? We hope you see you joining in with us. Please link up your finished layouts to the side bar under 'January's Challenges'.
Happy Scrapping!
