You can all go to Disneyland, We are going to Texas.

So last year we decided to save up for a vacation to Disneyland during the next years UEA and harvest holiday weekend. Well half way through searching for tickets and pricing them out I discovered that it would be the same amount of money to go to Texas and see Jason's Dad. So we brought this idea to the kids you wasted no time in saying that they would rather go see Pop-Pop. So we drove to Las Vegas and caught a plane to Austin Texas. We spent the day with Jason's Dad, David and his wife Cheryl. We went to Cabelas and we went out to lunch at this BBQ place called Rudy's. They really know their BBQ in Texas! It was really good!

This is Jason and David & Cheryl after lunch.

This is our rental car, well van. The kids loved the automatic doors and they each had their own row of seats, it was great! No fighting!

Of course I brought the DVD player, so that helped. But the view in Texas is pretty much all the same, flat and green.

This is beautiful downtown Dallas, TX. Jason and I were saying that we are glad we don't live in a big city.

This is the Dallas Temple. It is surrounded by houses and it looks like a stake center, but it is pretty and you still get that peaceful feeling.

We thought it was beautiful.

So the whole reason we drove 3 hours to Dallas for the day was to come to the Dallas Cowboy Stadium! Jason has been a fan since he was a kid! The new stadium is Huge!

Zack looks half asleep.

The HD screen is as wide as a seven story building is tall!

Unfortunately, the same day we decided to go, so did 1500 high school kids!

Our tour guide was telling us that the Jonas brothers, (No idea who they are) were giving a concert here and they set up the Play station 2 to the screen and for 2 hours they played Halo on the biggest TV ever!

The Locker room! Jason was pretty excited!

Poor Tony, we thought we would bring them luck. Monday, the day we left, Tony broke his collar bone. Well hopefully the Boys can pull it together.

Jason wanted these guys names. I think it was Berry, Bryant , & Bennet?

One of the clubs that look out onto the field.

The Field.

The end zone! Jason had a blast and we got our pictures taken on the star in the middle of the field! It was pretty cool to see the stadium and tour places we would never get to see.

Next we went to see the BSA Museum in Irving Tx. Right near Dallas.

Emma got to race derby cars on their track!

It was a little crowded. Actually we were the only ones their, it was awesome!

I think Dale had one of these tents!

Jason says our Ward has one of these old boxes.

My scouts. Zack earned a ribbon for his troop flag.

Next day we drove down to San Antonio. This is the Temple.

I think they found the only hill in Texas and built a Temple. This is considered "hill country".

I have heard of Texas size Hail, I hope you can see the dents on this car.

The Alamo.

It was awesome! The grounds are beautiful!

This is part of the original wall.

The fort.

They have Texas Rangers outside guarding it.

When we went inside the buildings, they don't let you take pictures. Jason was wearing a hat, and a museum worker asked him to take it off inside out of respect.

It was pretty cool to be were Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie once were.

We then walked down to the buck horn museum. It was filled with antlers and cattle horns and stuffed animals, and oddities. The kids had a blast!

The picture of the deer on the right it made out of rattlesnake rattles.

These chairs are awesome!

Emma wanted the horse. "We wouldn't have to feed it!" she said to me.

Emma is a harsh jail keeper!

Emma having fun.

The next day we went to the San Antonio Children's Museum, it was OK. I liked the one up in North Ogden, near my brothers house better.

The kids had fun with an ATM machine and setting up a course for a ball to drop down.

The giant nail art.

A working bulldozer.

A grocery store.

A tiny Mission.

Tiny Furniture.

Im so glad they weren't our pilots!

A street car.

White stripe and his cousin the skunk!

Downtown San Antonio.

El Mercado. We went to this Mexican Market in San Antonio! It was Awesome! Everything I love about the Mexican culture! It has everything from Mexico.

We had lunch at La Margarita restaurant. The orange building.

Emma in the market.

The inside of the market.

Gringo!

Lunch time.

The market is open and it smells so good! It was a great time!

They had these guys dancing. They were dressed up with the Lucha Libre masks and pretending to wrestle. We bought a few masks. We went to a halloween party later as Luchadors.

The kids cooling off in the pool. Jason and I just dipped in, it was a bit chilly.
The fish, Emma.

Later that night we went to Dave & Busters and played some games and the kids won some prizes.
We went to the Austin Zoo with David & Cheryl. It was more like an animal sanctuary than a proper Zoo. But it was fun. Zack loved the reptile house! Of course.
A peacock.
The tiger likes to take a bath in the water trough

I really didn't want to know what this sign means.

A tortoise
Emma.

Zack. (hee hee)

Emma and I thought this monkey was pretty funny, we couldn't figure out how he was sitting like this.
Emma having fun.
Zack love Zoo's, he wants to open one up someday.

We went to some caverns in Austin, with Jason's Dad.
It was hot and humid inside.
The ceiling was pretty cool.
Well we are packing up to go home, we had a great time and will never forget what we did! We had a nice time visiting David & Cheryl. It was nice to see them and the kids had a blast spending time with Pop-pop! We will have to visit again. Thanks again for everything Pop-pop!
