A Good Book

I use an on-line book library to rate and share book reviews with friends. There is an option to share with everybody, but I have it set to share only with people I choose as "friends." It's a wonderful way to share favorite books and to give recommendations.

Recently they added an option to link your reviews to your blog, which is what I have done here. These are great books and would recommend them to any new or up-and-coming parents. The foundation of the books is wrapped around the idea of teaching your child to trust and find safety in a consistent environment. It stresses not allowing an unhealthy co-dependence to develop between parent and child.
Below is the review I posted on the website.

On Becoming Baby Wise II: Parenting Your Pre-Toddler Five to Fifteen MonthsOn Becoming Baby Wise II: Parenting Your Pre-Toddler Five to Fifteen Months by Gary Ezzo

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Both Baby Wise books have been clear cut and helpful. We don't follow it to the letter, but we use it as a foundation for the perspective we have on parenting. It has worked extremely well for Sophie.

P.S. Check out the website if having an on-line library interests you. We could be friends and share books recommendations. :)

Adjusting to a New Focus

When Jeff and I first started talking about having a family, I dreaded the thought of trying to balance the life we were living with one more person. How were we going to both be able to work with an infant? Pay for things? Maintain sanity? And now I see the year that we were trying to get pregnant, coupled with the nine months of being pregnant, as a re-focusing time for me. The Lord was gently nudging me to, not switch up the life we were living, but to re-evaluate my priorities. I was learning to see this new addition to our family as a ministry in itself. And it's been a joy ever since...It's not always been happy or easy, but joy and happiness are not mutually exclusive, are they? And this joy is Spirit-filled.

Thank you, Lord, for this new focus.
