Australia Day

FOR TODAY : Tuesday 26/1/2010 Australia Day

Outside My Window... Slight wind-quite a few clouds but blue skies Temp 33C
I am thinking... How full I feel we have just been out for lunch and feeling a little guilty that
we went to the Ramsgate as they have barred Lucas for 3 months!!!
I am thankful for... Living in this beautiful country
From the kitchen... no tea tonight lunch was toooo big.
I am wearing... green home dress again it is very comfortable
I am creating... "A" line skirts for me
I am going... to have a nana nap.
I am reading... still listening to book of last week haven't spent much time in the car.
I am hoping... still for some rain to save my garden
I am hearing... cricket on TV and my wind chime by the open door
Around the house... not that tidy Lucas and his mates were here before they went out last
night and he was up early and out this morning for a Aust Day BBQ. He has to clean up his own mess.
One of my favorite things... Chicken Caesar salad
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Finish a baby quilt and if I write it down it
MIGHT happen - wash my car.
My picture thoughts...

It wouldn't be Australia Day without Surf Life Savers.

A bag for Em

Our friend Em was 21 this week and last night we went to her party. It was a lovely night which saw us dressed in cocktail attire. Tony has decided he is getting old when most of the music played is our music remixed and his hearing is so bad he can only catch 2 words in every sentence. We came home after midnight and I heard Lucas drag himself in around 4:30 this morning.
This is what I made Em, she has just finished a teaching degree and is going on to do honors this year. I am always uncertain about making thinks I like for the younger generation but Gemma liked this bag so I thought I would be safe.

Baguette bag

It is the Baguette bag by Cinderberry Stitches.
The pattern is in the November Homespun.

Baguette bag

I used a Moo Moo huneybun called Wonderland(I think)

Baguette bag

The stitcheries are very cute but quick to do.

Baguette bag

Inside it has 2 very colourful pockets and stripey side panels.
It is a lovely large bag perfect for Em to carry all her books to school in.

I saw this on Natalie's blog and followed the links to The Simple Woman's Blog. It is supposed to be on a Monday but I think Wednesday may suit me better or it may be any day I get around to it. I am going to try and keep this up as a journal. I kept a diary all through my teenage year which is rather funny to read now and a few years ago I did a 365 day quilt so here goes.

A bit of this and a bit of that

A few finishes.
Before Christmas I bought a "poppet" kit from Nicole Mallalieu Designs. I love the end result, there was only one point in the making process that I had to worry about.
The part when it said GLUE.
Glue and I are not friends but I sat myself down at the kitchen table and said to the family
"DO NOT SPEAK TO ME UNTIL I HAVE FINISHED".
It all turned out fine.
I think I will use it as a makeup purse.
Nicoles instructions are very good she puts a lot into them, I can see myself making some more of these as gifts.

I even got around to making myself some little labels.

Another enjoyable little project was the pincushion in Rosalie's recent book.
I love the kaleidoscope effect you get with this fabric.

Morning walk - Linear Park

A friend asked me if I could make her a coin purse so after a bit of fiddling and drawing this is what I came up with.
The one on the right is my first attempt.

coin purse

This was my second attempt with a stitchery from Cinderberry Stitches on the side.

This morning saw me up early to beat the heat.
A walk along the Linear Park.
People can agist their horses along the river.

Happy New Year

Wishing you a bright and sunny 2010.

Sunflower

A few months back Julie sent me some sunflower seeds.
I planted them in my garden..... some I think ended up as a meal for a bird but not all of them.

Sunflower

What a clever flower.
I took this photo at 8am notice where it is facing.

Sunflower

this one at noon

5pm.
This flower is near our front door and I can see it when I sit and stitch.
I love to watch it track the sun.

These are a few little ones that have already opened.
