Sleeping

One night, many months ago, Brian went in to check on the kids, and this is what he found.

Three girls, all sleeping with their hands above their heads, identical to their mother...

...and one boy, sleeping on his stomach, just like his dad.

FYI...when you combine a stomach sleeper and a hands-above-the-head sleeper, sometimes elbows and heads collide. Not really a big deal for the elbow, but kind of painful (!*#%!$#) for the head.

Just ask Brian.

Changes

Remember this?

The Previa.
Friends of ours gave it to us when I was pregnant with Julie. Seriously, GAVE it to us. It was no gem, but it was a huge blessing to us. It made several trips to Utah and Idaho, then back to California. Lots and lots of memories are associated with that van.
For instance, shortly after we got it, the sticky sliding door fell off at the YMCA. Car doors are quite a bit heavier than they look, by the way :) Thank goodness, it only fell off from the top so I wedged it back in and drove slowly to get it fixed.
We also got stuck more than once in Island Park in the winter, and had to get towed out. That is always fun. The A/C worked on low or full blast...nothing in between. You get the idea.
Anyway, after we had been in Utah for a few months, the car stopped turning on. So we decided to get a new van.
The end of October, we got a newer van...a 2007! Woo-hoo! It is awesome. I love driving that thing. The handyman for our house here was interested in the Previa, so I said he could have it. He wouldn't take it for free, so he gave us a $100 and tried to drive it away.
Yes, I wrote tried. Remember how it wouldn't start? Well, he hooked his truck up to the van and towed it away. It is funny how much I had been hating that van, and yet here I was, taking pictures and watching till it disappeared out of my sight.
Like I said, there were a lot of memories in that car.

But my new one has seat warmers. Seat warmers. So my toasty bum and I will have to just get over losing the Previa. It could be tough. ;)

A little more

Your comments are interesting, and bring up some other things to think about.

While I DO believe that we are guided in a lot of our decisions, we are NOT commanded in all things. Many choices are between two or more good things, and I don't think the Lord cares which one we choose.

That being said, we are not narrowed down to two choices right now. We know where we would like to live (where the jobs are scarce) and then we have options to go lots of places where we would rather not live. That is our dilemma. Knowing which places to pursue, and which to let go. There are many more factors as well...but money and location are a big deal.

We'll keep you posted.

Would you rather...

...have a little money and live in a place where there are A LOT of things to do?

OR

...have a LOT of money and live in a place where there is nothing to do?

Seriously, comment.

What would you rather do?

Shoes

I am so behind on this blog...oh well.

I got some new shoes for Christmas. Actually, I got a pair of boots AND a pair of shoes. I love them both so much, I starting thinking a lot about shoes.

Shoes are the ultimate accessory, are they not? Ugly shoes can ruin a carefully-picked ensemble as easily as great shoes can make the same ensemble fabulous. The power of such a small thing is amazing.

I have some extremely uncomfortable heels...they pinch and leave unbecoming marks all over my feet, but they are fantastic! Seriously wonderful shoes. And I feel THAT good when I wear them, so I put up with the pain. I know if I had more expensive shoes, I could get fit AND design, but alas...I don't. Maybe someday.

Today I am going to go put on my new red shoes, and then do fabulous things like take out the garbage, do the laundry, and run a few errands. I know the things aren't really "fabulous", but at least I will feel so in my shoes.

Now go do the same.

Happy Birthday

Julie turns 4 today...and is just as fun as usual.

When she grows up, she wants to be a horse trainer, a pegasus trainer, a mermaid, and a princess.

Awesome.

Happy Birthday, Julie!
