The kids have been off from school for their 2 week fall break and we haven't done anything. I know, I'm a boring mom. I've been told that many times the last 10 days. So today a friend was going to the "Farm" as we call it, and she invited us to go along. We went there about 3 years ago. The day we went, I think it hit a record high of about 95 degrees the end of September. We had no idea what to expect last time so it ended up being pretty miserable because we were very unprepared. This time was a totally different story. I would say we all loved it. It was a very comfortable 75 degrees, we came prepared with lots of water and all the kids were excited. You ride a wagon out to the fields and pick your own produce. This year they said you can get 6 bags of each item for each person!! That would have been 36 bags of each food for my family. Needless to say we did not take that much, but as you can see in our picture, it filled the entire back of my Suburban and the middle floorboard.

The kids jumped on a huge inflated pillow!

Ashton and Brayden on the wagon with their corn!

Our produce Loot! Sweet corn, potatoes, beets, onions, cabbage, carrots, green beans, indian corn, popcorn, pumpkins, and eggplant.

Scary Brayden

About half way through the fields, Brayden started whining he was hungry and he wouldn't stop crying, I forgot the treats in the car. Our next stop was the cabbage, so I picked a huge head of cabbage, peeled back the bad leaves and gave him a big leaf to eat. He called it lettuce. He ate it all and asked for another leaf. Next stop was carrots, which we washed and he also ate a few. Then came the sweet corn. The kids were eating it raw, fresh picked. I think he had 3 ears of sweet corn. He was so happy and content the rest of the time! We now have lots of work to do. Canning and freezing our food.
It was so much fun to do! Maybe next year I can get Aaron to go, he has yet to come with us because we always go when he's working.
