Plumber Anyone?

Two days before Christmas, our faucet broke.  The hose that went into our pull out faucet nozzle sprung a leak.  It was a huge bummer and a huge mess and definitely not something you want to deal with two days before Christmas.  We had no other option, however.  We went to Lowe's, picked out a new faucet and poor Chris had to exercise his plumbing skills.  This was a back breaking kind of job too, because the bolts were so tight that he had a very hard time getting them off.  After quite a bit of hassle and frustration, the old one was out and it was time to put the new one in.  I was excited that I could pick out a new faucet, as there was definitely some things I hated about the old one.  This new one is going to be awesome and I'm so glad that Chris was able to get it done.  He's not a fan of doing household type projects.  He would rather leave it to the experts and have someone come in and do it quicker because they know what they are doing and do it all the time. He had no choice though because we needed a faucet and there was no way we could hire this job out two days before Christmas.  So...I'm adding faucet installation to the list of tasks my hubby has now mastered!

Sunday Holiday Best

Once a year, I pull out the tripod and use it to take a family photo the Sunday before Christmas.  I'm always amazed that we get a pretty good photo.  I should really start using it more!  I love this family and I love to see them all dressed in their sunday best!

Daddy's 40th Birthday

Every year, Chris' birthday comes and goes and I vow to do better the next year.  Having a birthday around the holidays must really be a bummer.  And although I have always thought it would be easy to separate it and celebrate this special day, I fall short.  This year, Daddy was turning 40.  I thought about planning a party, but knew he would hate that kind of attention.  I thought about taking him away over night again, but we did that last year.  I wanted to do what HE wanted to do and to celebrate HIM.  On Friday night, he and I went out on a date to Ruth's Chris.  It was nice to have some time alone.  Then, on Daddy's actual birthday, we just spent the day doing things that Daddy wanted to do.  We got him donuts for breakfast and promptly put candles in them and sang to him.  The kids and I made a birthday sign for Daddy and had decorated with balloons!  We shopped for boots and cowboy hats, but bought nothing.   Daddy said that he bought his birthday present a little early when he got his new truck.  We did get him a nice little trailer hitch cover though.  We ate at his favorite restaurants and took the four wheelers out for a last hurrah before Christmas.  That evening, we went to a beautiful Christmas light display out in the countryside of Lincoln.  It was a walk through light display complete with free popcorn and hot cocoa.  The kids had a blast, but it was dang cold!  It was a super fun day, but not much fanfare for a 40th!   We are so grateful for Daddy for all he does for our family.  He is a wonderful provider, an amazing husband and a super awesome, fun Daddy.  We couldn't be more blessed and I hope he could feel how much we loved him on his special day!

Germophobe

Grant is a total germophobe and there is no other way to describe it.  He hates dirty socks, dirty underwear and dirty anything...even if they are his own.  He would prefer for me to take off his dirty socks, but since I refuse, he will sometimes use the shoe horn to take off his socks.  hahaha!  And then after he gets the sock off, he will immediately use anti-bacterial.  We keep antibacterial in the car, on the counter, in my purse, etc.  I think we need to have this boy play in the mud and get really dirty!  hahaha!

Grant's Class Christmas Party

Class Christmas party #2, this time, in Grant's class!  It was a very busy week.  I did one party and then the next day, the other.  I planned similar activities for the kids and Grant's teacher had some ideas of her own too.  I organized the craft.  We made popsicle stick Christmas tree ornaments.  Mrs. Bombard organized the ice cream cone trees and the gingerbread houses.  The kids were kept very busy! Grant loved making his house and cone, but I think he ate a ton of candy while decorating them.  haha!  They finished their party by having an ornament exchange.  It was a super cute idea!
