The first thing that came to my mind...
"For the beauty of the Earth,
For the beauty of the skies,
For the love which from our birth,
Over and around us lie.
Lord of all to thee we raise,
This our hymn of grateful praise."
I know it was a little dangerous taking this picture
but it was really a site to see. Even the kids were
commenting on beauty ahead.
Brynne said,
"that's where Jesus died...Remember the sky
looked just like that when he was on the cross?"
Wow, what a moment...

Dusty's New Friend...Cousin Christopher
Dusty on a skateboard...but not just any
skateboard. A new HOT WHEELS skateboard
bought by his cousin Christopher.
There is Christopher and Dusty ridin' their boards.
Here they are just after a made up game of
backgammon.
Dusty is blessed to have many awesome cousins
on both sides of the family. But this moment, he will
never forget.
Christopher was riding on Dusty's OLD small
skateboard and accidentally broke it. So, when
Dusty saw it broken, he was really bummed. Christopher
took him to Target and bought him a new board.
Then when they got home Christopher gave him
lots of tips, and tried to teach him a few things.
They became fast friends, and had a great time for
the few days that our cousins were here. Thanks
Christopher for making this a special weekend, and moment
for Dusty. He will never forget this.
On the way to the Grandpa Jim's funeral,
Brynne and Toby smile for the camera.
At the cemetery, while waiting for the military,
we ate crackers, and tried to keep warm. It was
really a cold, cold day for So. Cal.
Again, waiting at the cemetery, we
pose for a picture. Nice "Thumbs Up"
Ryan, Alice, David, Susan and John. 5 of the 6
Shumway children. JoEllen had already left for
the day.

Jim's Passing
With the passing of Ryan's dad, Jim, I've done a lot
of deep thinking about this life. I'm so thankful
for the life that I have, for the knowledge and
testimony that I have, and for my beliefs and faith.
I'm happy for Jim, that he is able to be with his
sweet wife, Jean. What a joyous reunion.
I'm so thankful for the life that my in-laws lead,
for the love that they had for each other, and the
respect that they kept for each other. They were
great examples to me, of the kind of marriage I
strive to have with Ryan.
