3 Smiles Layout with Kat Benjamin

3 Smiles Layout
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Kat Benjamin
It is a dreary day here in Georgia - rain, rain and more cold chilly rain. It was the perfect day than to post Kat's bright and warm layout. I love her use of color swatches in the background and how she integrates these bright flashes of color with warm basics, including our burlap butterflies, clothespins and felt butterflies.

Burlap Pinwheel Gift Bag with Jenifer Cowles

Jenifer shares a whimsically embellished gift bag. I love how she topped with a burlap pinwheel and several layers of our rosettes.

She reports, "These were so much fun to make, take some burlap and create a pinwheel, use stacking rosettes for the center and a straw for the stick.  All tied up with some fabric and ribbons and you have the perfect party topper for your goodie bags."

Altered Rock Star Frame with Kristin Greenwood

Altered Rock Star Frame
Curtesy Boutique Designer
Kristin Greenwood
I find scrapping my son so much more challenging than scrapping my three girls, so I love it when I see great ideas for boy layouts. This altered frame and layout by Kristin is a perfect mixture of edge and embellishment.

The close up below shows the fantastic way in that she embellished our chalkboard hearts. She gave them a hard masculine edge by embossing them then rubbing them with gold and silver ink. I also love how she distressed the edges of the fabric rosettes - the perfect way to play down their ruffled lightness.

This layout was inspired by a simple, everyday photo of the building next to Alyssa's.  There was a storm coming in, and the lighting was amazing.  Not every layout has to be a momentous event to make it into her albums!

Lavender and Wildflower Seed Thank You Packets:
This is a sweet and simple project that can be easily made in larger quantities. I created these to be a part of a Garden Party themed bridal shower. They were a part of the Thank You gift for all of the people that attended the shower.

IMG_1679CB.jpg

I cut out all of the hearts and tags from patterned papers. I inked everything with a chocolate brown ink. I also cut small strips of white cardstock which I wrote Thank You on. But you could always print out these sentiments or stamp them.

Then I began to assemble the front of each mini envelope. Any regular adhesive will do, but I used my hot glue gun for the buttons.

I separated the seeds from their original packages and then placed them each into a mini zipper bag. This would make sure that none of the tiny little seeds would escape from the envelopes.

Apple for the Teacher Card with Rebekah Faries

Apple for the Teacher Card
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Rebekah Faries
Teachers tend to get gifts at the beginning and end of the school year, when parents are happy to send their little ones off on the bus after or a long Summer or when they are excited to have them back after a full year of school.

I love this card that Rebekah has made and think it would be perfect for giving to a teacher now. A kind of "I know you are in the thick of it and we appreciate you" pep talk.

To all the teachers out there who have helped me and my children over the years - thanks so much!

Curtsey Boutique Designer
Alyssa McGrew

Our very own Alyssa McGrew welcomed the most adorable new addition to her family last week!  We are celebrating by sharing a gift bag she made for a friend of hers who has had a baby boy earlier in the year.

Alyssa, needed a creative way to wrap a wallet-sized book, and the kraft embossed bags from the shop were easy to embellish, and the perfect size for a small item.

Embellished Mason Jar and Button Card with Connie Mercer

Embellished Mason Jar and button Card
Curtsey Boutique Designer
Connie Mercer

Fall is my favorite season of the year - crisp cool air, knee high riding boots, leaves that crackle under your beet and soft cozy sweaters. Fall is also a time for canning or if you hate a big kitchen mess - for using canning jars in creative ways. I love Connie's use of our plastic mason jars and daisy lids here. The warm fall colors and a collection of vintage buttons are fantastic for organizing, but also a fun gift for a crafty friend or cute finishing touch on a fall mantle.

Kat Benjamin
Kat shares her thoughts o her week 30 Project Life Layout

"I went heavy on the pink for this week's spread because one of the week's highlights was my best friend's baby shower.  She's having a little girl, so I used that as the perfect excuse to overload on one of my favorite colors!  The Curtsey Boutique has a lot of pink embellishments that worked really well for the look I was going for!"

Tweet Friend Card with Andrea Amu

I am not sure when it happened, but Fall has arrived here in Georgia. It seems like just yesterday the kids were running around outside in bathing suits Now the air is cool and crisp, leaves are falling and I'm pulling out the sweater boxes.  My favorite part of fall is the colors and I love Andrea's card for its mixture of warm oranges, yellows and brown.  She uses one of our fabric bows to top her sweet die cut birdcage.
