Resting...and resting...and resting

Well, I've been on bed rest since June 4th. Actually June 4th was when I ended up in the hospital (also known as the last day of school - perfect timing!) It was my 31st week and I started having some serious contractions Friday night which resulted in my being admitted into the hospital. The magnesium and other medication I was given to stop the contractions ended up putting fluid on my lungs. This made my chest hurt quite a bit and I was having a hard time taking deep breaths without pain. After a successful round of a diuretic in my iv, and a clear chest x-ray, I was discharged Wednesday morning - a very LONG 5 days later.

So now I have to get through bed rest until I get to 36 weeks. I'm really close...I have a doctor appt tomorrow and the following week and then I'm all done. It hasn't been too bad...the hardest part has been not being able to take Hunter to do fun things this summer. Luckily sweet friends have been coming by to take him out of the house to swim or play.

I've been kept company by my #1 bed rest buddy, Tonka. He's done a fabulous job resting with me!

I also was able to go to my baby shower! I was so excited to get out of the house and see friends! Tony drove me and then I was set up on the couch for bed rest in a new location! It was such a fun shower, the girls did a wonderful job!

Trying Again!

One post in and I've already become a blogging slacker! In my defense, things have been incredibly busy for us here lately. Moving, the end of the school year and all that entails, and my ever-growing belly that seems to be slowing me down more and more everyday! And did I mention my feet? I'm still trying to decide if I want to post a picture of my ridiculously swollen feet and ankles on here. I worry that some unsuspecting young woman will happen upon my blog and swear off the idea of having babies because of MY FEET! I can sort of see my ankles first thing in the morning, but by the end of the day, they are little tree stumps and the pain from my skin being pulled so tight is becoming unbearable. Plus, I'm worried all the time that I'm going to have some kind of blood clot from this reduced blood flow and it will travel to my brain or something! Always been a worrier...

Aside from the feet, I really am enjoying this pregnancy. I'm wrapping up week 30 and can't believe it's coming to an end soon. I'm going to miss feeling him go crazy in my belly. That's special Grayson and Mommy time! School is out next week and I plan on spending the summer getting the nursery together and keeping my feet up - either in a pool or on the couch! (probably the pool!) I can guarantee I won't be posting any pool pictures!! By the end of this post, I decided I would show the world my oh so puffy feet. Don't be scared Moms to Be...I hear this doesn't happen to everyone (I'm one of the lucky ones I guess!)

First Blog...here goes!

Welcome to our blog! I've never done one of these before and actually after spending an embarrassing amount of time sorting through backgrounds, choosing layouts, and picking colors, I'm a little too tired to actually write anything!

I've attempted to write in journals all my life, starting with the sweet little diary I got from the book fair when I was in third grade. It was covered in brown velvet and had a gold emblem of a horse right on the front. I remember pouring my third grade heart and soul into that diary for a good 20 pages. Thus began a pattern I would continue well into adulthood. Starting profound journals entries, getting my innermost thoughts down on paper, only to lose interest after a bit of time. I'm currently keeping a pregnancy journal for our newest addition and am actually doing a good job keeping up with it on a regular basis. So...here's to starting fresh and sticking to this blog! (wish me luck!)

Until the next time!
