Happy Birthday to my best friend, best father to my kids, best husband, hardest worker, most understanding, best support system I could ever ask for. I love you! (even though you are getting old...hee hee)

Seth is 5

My Sethie is 5. I cannot believe he is that old. He is growing and changing so much each day. My most clever and intuitive child, for sure, he is such a fun kid to have around. He loves to talk and is good at it :). I really enjoy my conversations with Seth because he is like talking to a 5 year old adult. He speaks well and comprehends things unlike most little kids add his little innocence to that and you will have delightful conversation on your hands.

5 things I love about Seth:
1. How much he loves his family
2. His little voice
3. How much he loves to be read to
4. His sensitive heart
5. The twinkle in his eyes

5 things Seth is doing now:
1. Writing his name, learning to read at 4-day a week preschool
2. Scoring goals in soccer
3. Singing and playing the bells in music class
4. Going to CTR 6 in primary
5. Hitting balls over the net in tennis

5 things Seth loves:
1. Playing with his friends
2. Playing the Wii, DS or iPad
3. Fruit of all kinds
4. Max and Ruby
5. Playing with his cousins

5 things Seth doesn't love:
1. Sleeping with the light off
2. Most of the dinners I make him (hey, I'm a good cook!)
3. Wearing tennis shoes (he loves his flip flops!)
4. Being told what to do (he's a stubborn one)
5. Sitting still for long periods of time

This year Seth got a birthday party (since he turned an odd number) and asked it to be a "spooky" one, so that is what he got! Matt and I went all out and had a blast!

Haunted house
with a scary man that comes to life... :)

Pin the "heart" on the skeleton

Decorating sugar cookies

Pumpkin decorating

Skeleton pinata

Candle blowing

fun for all...
We love our Seth! He is such a cute kid with such a great personality. I can't imagine our family without him in it.

You're Invited

It is no secret that I LOVE having a little girl. I love it more and more everyday too (if that is even possible!). Rylee is the best baby girl I could have ever asked for!

Recently, I was invited to 2 bridal showers in my family and when the invitations came in the mail, they were addressed to "Jen and Rylee Roper"...I cannot tell you how much I love that! It may seem simple or even silly to some of you, but to me it is one of the greatest things ever.

Rylee is my little friend, my companion to do "girl's things" forever, she is mine and I feel so blessed to have her.

Tennis

We have become some tennis-loving fools over here in the Roper household. It started a few months ago when some friends of mine asked if I wanted to take tennis lessons with them. I nervously agreed since I have never really played tennis in my life.

Now, many lessons behind me, I am really enjoying playing. I participate in 3 leagues and have kept very busy playing tennis! One of the leagues is mixed doubles and Matt is my partner.

Matt is awesome at tennis, if I do say so myself, and would definitely dominate the league if I weren't his partner, but it has been a lot of fun playing together. He doesn't seem to mind (too much) that we aren't first place (or second or third) in the standings. :)

Wade and Seth also started taking lessons and are pretty good! Matt is thrilled to have his kids playing tennis. My dad has also been trying to talk me into tennis lessons for the kids for awhile now..."get them into tennis and golf, tennis and golf are sports they can play their entire life", is what he is constantly saying to me.

The best part about tennis is that we can all eventually play together as a family and you can't beat something like that :).

Disneyland

We love Disneyland! We really love Disneyland in October and decided to make a trip out during fall break this year. This October was especially neat because it was Rylee's first time!

We went with the Bryner's and had a great time! Seth and Wade are now tall enough for all the rides (with the exception of "Indiana Jones" for Seth) and I'm not pregnant so we got to make the most of what Disneyland had to offer.

Seth was brave enough to go on the "Tower of Terror" mainly because he had no idea what he was getting himself into (hee, hee--mean parents.) Ben and I took Logan (another innocent victim) and Seth and it was really fun. They both said they, "didn't want to go again," ;) but weren't screaming or crying during the ride either. Here is the picture of the picture of our frightful ride:

Rylee loved all the rides she got to go on and was perfectly pleasant the entire time. She took good naps and had a great time.

Trent was so fun! He is at the best age! We discovered that he is now tall enough to ride on "the Matterhorn" and we were all so thrilled!!
He loved it! Although he loved "Matterhorn," he was nervous on "Pirates of the Caribbean," this time, and spent most of the ride burying his head into Matt's neck. Aside from the rides, Trent can find a good time anywhere and did so while were were waiting for lunch by taking a "swim" in a fountain. Completely soaked from head to toe--hence the $18 dollar "Mickey Mouse" sweatpants he is wearing in the above "Matterhorn" pic. They were the only pair of pants/shorts I could find. On the brightside, he LOVES those sweatpants and wears them to bed almost every night.

We went to "Goofy's Kitchen" which isn't the best tasting food ever, but always a good time. They celebrated Seth's birthday which made him feel really special.

The "happiest place on earth" definitely still is.
