Mrs Parma's

Greetings Fellow Nom Seekers!

Mrs Parma’s has always been one of my favourite pubs for a nice parmagiana.  A few weeks ago, it just so happened, I was passing by this institution during lunch hours. As it was about 35 degrees celcius outside, I knew I needed a place to cool my heels and tank up.

The place was packed with pre-Christmas revellers and I was asked if I wouldn't  mind eating at the counter - which I don't. I sat down, look at the menu and ordered a Frank and Parma (Crispy frankfurter with ketchup and mustard), chips and a drink.

Frank and Parma.  Is it really necessary to have a sausage on top?
The drink arrived quickly and the meal arrived within a few minutes. The thickness of the parma was the same throughout for an even cooking. It is advertised that each chicken breast is about 230 grams but to me it looks bigger. This was not an issue as I enjoyed every bite.

Half an hour later, two Lemon lime and bitters, chips and a parma down, I was ready to brave the sweltering heat. It was as satisfying as I remember and will definitely be going back.

Featherston Bar And Kitchen

Greetings Fellow Nom Seekers!

Eating in a new country or a new city is a pastime I enjoy immensely. I was in Wellington, New Zealand, a very nom-worthy place. Unfortunately as it always does in Wellington, the rain and the wind decided to join me on my quest for food. It was seriously raining sideways which is apparently the norm. To escape the wet, I hunkered down at a very cosy bar/restaurant nearby called "Featherston Bar and Grill" nearby to my hotel.  It is also known as "Featherston Bar and Kitchen" on their own website.

The very friendly staff guided me to my table and handed me the menu. As I was in a steak and chips sort of place, it was only fitting that I order from the grill.  In this case, I ordered a 500 grams sirloin on the bone. The food arrived quickly and the presentation looked fantastic with the chips being served in a basket. The only drawback was that I had requested my steak to be medium done but unfortunately half of the steak was raw :(

Hats off to whoever purchased the meat as it was top quality and taste.  It was such a shame I had to leave the still moo-ing part on my plate.

Nom Again:
Yes.  But may ask for a 'well done' steak and hopefully end up with a medium steak as they tend to underdo the meat.

The Norman Hotel

Greetings Fellow Nom Seekers!

I landed in Brisbane for work and as I always do, stay around town which would allow me to sample as much nom as possible. On this occasion, I went to one of my favorite steak place, "The Norman". As test cricket was on at the Gabba, the place was packed (not that it is ever empty)

If this is your first experience at "The Norman", the first thing to do is to find a table (Don't forget to book if you have a group of people) and go the counter to order with your table number. On the way to the counter you will get to pass the honour board. You too could have your name on it if you are willing to eat a kilo of rump steak along with lots of salad, breads and sauces during certain times of the year.

Only Titans need apply

Ordering is an easy process as all cuts are located behind the window counter and patrons get to choose their own cut and ask to be cooked as desired. This time around, I chose the large rib fillet from the Dalby Region in Queensland and the must-have beer battered chips with aioli sauce. As packed as what the restaurant was, my meal was ready within 20 minutes. As usual, the beef was perfectly cook and along with the chips and a few drinks was a very satisfying experience. After all, this restaurant  slogan is "The Norman, Brisbane Worst Vegetarian Restaurant" and it does live to that expectation.
