Dewberry Farm 2011

I have lived in Katy my whole life and have never been to Dewberry Farms out in Brookshire. So, when a Groupon came up for Dewberry Farm, we decided that we should go and take the girls. They were so excited and the weather was perfect. Needless to say, I was not prepared for how crowded but wonderful it would be. We had the best time. There were pony rides, a giant fort, a big air bubble, slides, rope swing into hay, and a ride into the pumpkin patch. We spent about 4 hours there and did not even get to see everything. My favorite part was spending time with my family and making a memory that will hopefully last a lifetime!

Kennedy Singing 2011

The video is small, but Kennedy is the one in teal striped and kinda in the middle. Enjoy!

Kennedy's Open House 2011

Last week we got to have our annual Spaghetti Supper at the kids preschool. We have been attending these Spaghetti Suppers long before the girls were even in Little People's School. We started coming to see Emily sing and the girls loved it. We sure missed them this year! Then it was McKinlea's turn. When they start the 3's class, they start performing and singing at the Spaghetti Supper and Christmas program. I cherished those times to see McKinlea on stage. She loves to perform and sing (wonder where she gets that?). Now that McKinlea is in Kindergarten, the stage has turned to Kennedy. Those of you who know the girls know that they are alike in ways, but much different in others. Kennedy will perform on her terms and when it suits her. We never know what to expect with her :) So, Thursday night was all about her. It was wonderful to get to spend this time at "her" school (those are Kennedy's words) and see what she spends her time doing during the week. Even though she is one of the youngest kids in her class, she holds her own. She is keeping up nicely and the teacher has no worries. She does have a good friend in the class and they tend to get into a little mischief, so they have to be apart at times. After seeing her classroom, it was time for dinner and singing in the Family Life Center. I was a little concerned about how Kennedy would do since she had never offically performed before and like I said, we never know with her. Needless to say, she did great. We only had a few times when she decided that she would rather sit and watch her friends sing. Overall, it was a great night. I was a little sad during her last song as I realized that our little girl was growing up and no longer a baby anymore. I have learned to enjoy every minute and not take anything for granted and to thank God every day for my precious miracles! Fall is coming fast and I love it.

Catching Up....

It has been quite a while since an update. Needless to say, life has been very busy and full of new experiences. McKinlea is doing great in school and loves every minute of it. Kennedy is enjoying Preschool and her first dance class. We are busy getting ready for the fall season. John's golf is in full "swing" and his team seems to be gaining in experience and ability. Here are some of our pictures from our latest trip to the pumpkin patch. It seems to be getting harder and harder to get pictures when the girls would rather be exploring. Enjoy!

Play time!

The girls got to spend the day of Monkey Joe's before school started. This was a great way to end the summer since it was so hot outside.

First Day of Dance

Kennedy had her first day of dance today. She was so excited! It was so hard to find tights and leotard that fit her. She is so small. Mom did not even try to put her hair up since it is so short. How will we ever get her hair into a bun for the dance recital? So, now we have both girls in dance. We will be super busy during recital season.

First Day of Preschool

This is the first year of preschool that Kennedy has started without her sister. She was a little nervous about it, but she loves her teacher and is having a great time. She thinks that she is big stuff because she gets to go through the carpool line now and get herself in and out. Where does the time go???

First Day of Kindergarten

First Day of School

She started school this morning
and she seemed to be very small
As I walked there beside her
In the Kindergarten hall.

And as she took her place beside
the others in the class
I realized how all too soon
Those first few years can pass.

Remembering, I saw her as
She first leanred to walk.
The words that we alone made out
When she began to talk.

This little girl so much absorbed
In learning how to write,
It seems as though she must have grown
to "girlhood" overnight.

My eyes were blurred but hastily
I brushed the tears away,
Lest by some word or sign of mine
I mar her first big day.

Oh, how I longed to stay with her
And keep her by the hand
To lead her through the places
That she couldn't understand.

And something closely kin to fear
Was mingled with my pride,
I knew she would no longer be
a baby by my side.

But she must have her chance to live,
to work her problems out.
The privilege to grow and learn
What life is all about.

And I must share my little girl
With friends and work and play;
She's not a baby anymore-
She's in Kindergarten today!

We Love you, McKinlea!

A new chapter.....

There are no pictures today, but will be plenty on Monday afternoon. I am writing this to ask my followers to say a quick prayer in the morning. McKinlea will be starting kindergarten on Monday, September 22nd. We have long awaited this day with joy, but also with a bit of sadness. We know that McKinlea is growing up into a wonderful person, but we also love her being our "little" girl. I will update with pictures and such after we get settled on Monday.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Kennedy!

Today we celebrate your 3rd birthday, Kennedy. We can not believe that you are now 3 years old. Seems like we were just welcoming you into this world. You have brought our lives more joy than you will ever know. Daddy and I love seeing you and your sister playing together. We know that God has blessed us with 2 precious children and we can not imagine our world without you. Kennedy, we love your sweet smile with your precious dimple. You are so funny and I see so much of your Daddy's humor in you. Some of your favorite things are baby dolls, singing, and doing anything your big sister does. You love to dance and will soon start dance classes. We know you will love it. You, however, do not like riding in the car. We hope this will soon change as you get older. I guess it is because you like to be so busy :) Kennedy, may you always be so happy and full of life. We look forward to what the future holds for you. Daddy and I love you! Happy Birthday!
