Hey folks!
I shared a card I made, not too long ago, where I used the Rose from the Clearly Besotted Happy Everything Set. The other stamp in the set has been sitting there on my desk staring at me. Well, maybe not, but ya know.
So, I thought this would be a good time to try out something I've been wanting to do for awhile. None of these techniques are new by any means, but what I really really enjoyed about making these cards was seeing how each one came out on my own.
If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I will have links for you throughout the post!
Jennifer McGuire and more recently, Sandy Allnock are two that I can think of off the top of my head that have done Copic Coloring on Kraft Cardstock. I started there, but I wanted to try out a couple of other mediums while I was at it. Nothing big or spectacular, but groovy nonetheless.
I stamped the images on Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock in Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink. After the ink was dry, I simply colored it in with Copic markers, just like I would have done on white cardstock.
To make the Patterned Strip down the side of the card, I taped off a panel of Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock and using an Ranger Ink Mini Blending Tool, I first went over the sections with Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink. After that dried, I went over the sections of white with Simon Says Stamp Ink in Hollyhock and Green Leaf. There are also tiny sections of Delicata Golden Glitz Metallic Pigment Ink.
Next, I wanted to try out my Prisma Colored Pencils on Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock. This time, I stamped the images in Hero Arts Black Ink. To blend the pencils, I used a Dove Blender Pen.
I changed it up a bit on the patterned paper for this one as well. Again, I used Simon Says Stamp Ink in Hollyhock and Green Leaf, but I also used Sunshine Yellow and Slate Gray.
For this one, I broke out the Derwent Inktense Pencils and used the Dove Blender Pen again. Instead of stamping in Hero Arts Unicorn White Pigment Ink, I first heat embossed the images with Versamark Ink and Simon Says Stamp White Embossing Powder. I was surprised at how light the Inktense Pencils turned out compared to the regular Colored Pencils.
All three of the above cards have a strip of DCWV Gold Foiled Cardstock.
After doing three cards in Kraft Cardstock, I wanted to do one more, but on Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
I went back to the Hero Arts Black Ink and stayed with the Derwent Inktense Pencils. I switched up the colors a lil bit, but I still used the Dove Blender Pen.
For the patterned strip at the bottom of this card, I taped off a piece of Neenah White Cardstock with Post-It Labeling Tape and used Simon Says Stamp Ink in Hollyhock, Green Leaf, Sunshine Yellow and Black with my Ranger Ink Mini Blending Tool. I also added a thin strip of Simon Says Stamp Black Cardstock.
No card is complete with out a good ol' fashioned coat of Clear Wink of Stella and because I really really need to break down and order more sequins, I once again used Marshmallow Sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.
These were really fun and it's definitely something I will do again. In fact, I'm a thinkin this would be a great start for Fall themed cards. I hope you enjoy!
Until next time!
