Sometimes it seems like Claire gets the short end of the stick since Ezra and Audrey require so much of me. I look forward to the kids' bedtime because Claire can recieve my undivided attention. We've been giving her a nightly bath to give her some routine which she enjoys. Corey gave her her bath tonight and I lotioned her up and took her upstairs. Usually I feed her and then rock her but tonight, I put her in the cradle while she was drowsy but still awake. I rocked her, sang a song, and rocked her some more. Finally I decided to get myself ready for bed. When I came back in a few minutes later, she was asleep! This is huge for me! I usually nursed our other babies to sleep, many times each night. I've always admired (and envied) mothers who could set their babies down and they would just fall asleep. I wasn't sure how they taught their babies to do that without a lot of crying, but it looks like it can be done without crying. Maybe just consistency and patience?
Hopefully this will become a regular thing for her. And now, I'm going to take advantage of this and go to bed! Goodnight!
