WPS Jersey Launch

Puma sponsoring all WPS teams this coming season. Great idea of projecting both the WPS and Puma's logo as part of a backdrop.

I like Chicago Red Stars one the best, followed by Washington Freedom's and then Boston Breakers'. I thought the long sleeves ones stand out the most, sorry for being bias.

More photos...
Now we see Marta back in the states!

I thought St. Louis's one is pretty boring...

But the back looked good, well, presentable.

The team am going to win my support - Chicago Red Stars

Catching them in action in their club colors is gona be exciting now...

Tiring Tuesday

The weather this morning was too good to be missed and also too hard to wake up to. I wish I could enjoy more of it but preparation time permits.

Today have been another of one of those long days, with time ticking at a speed of a snail's movement. Just tired and really worn out but the office is not the place to lay your hair down.

Let's look forward to a better Wednesday or rather, a wacky one...

Always be prepared,
Marj

Burning weekend

Well a small portion of my hair got burned through igniting fire for a portable bbq pit. Rule is, don't get your face near the pit if you want to get the fire started before your hair gets all fizzed up. But nonetheless, I enjoyed the bbq session with the soccer girls even if it meant sitting down and just chatting the hours away while consuming food.

Sometimes the weekend gets so good that you never realize that Monday will be around in a few hours. I hate it but then again, the weekend comes by really quick before you know it and I love it!(Which working person wouldn't?)

and the dustbin chute at my block caught fire again!

What hurts

It's going to be really hard having to sleep with a slightly bruised knee and a self-inflicted injured ankle..I conjure someone's studs or someone knocked me in the knee.

It doesn't matter who that someone is cause it only goes to show just what women are made of, really. Don't ask me how it happened. I just hope that I won't have my own studs having a go at my ankle ever again! Sometimes the magarine gets a lil too slippery...

It's time for a goodnight's rest as I enjoy the comforts of my bed..

Marj

Where the heart lies

After a long thought, I've decided to apply for my degree studies...but at the same time, I would very much like to be able to attend CCUSA!

Being around kids can be so much fun and what's best really is to be able to bring a smile to their faces, teach them camp stuff and help them as and when possible. Sometimes kids bring the joy out of each of us. The father has given the nod to go ahead and apply as a Camp Counselor but concurrently NAFA's semester would be running. It's so hard to have to pick one and drop the other...making choices have never been this tough. I really would want to just relax for that 9 weeks and really be with those kids and volunteer my services... I just pray for the best...

Yesterday was a day filled with many events and and getting to know the story of Adolf Hitler's failed assassination through Valkyrie had never been that interesting though I was left perplexed at certain portions of the movie. But I recommend you do catch it.

On another special note, HAPPY VLENTINE'S DAY TO ALL!

Better in time

In short, I'm lacking from fitness.

It's been 2 weeks since the toughest training begun. Sure feels like it's the beginning of a war. It is only the beginning but we're all so tired but you know, everyone tries, push and motivate each other along the way. The result? The war was conquered. But you know, sometimes some do not really make it and half way through the bad happens. With the effort of trying, the war is eventually conquered, but at a delayed time.

Sometimes individual give up half way, knowing that they'd never make it to the end point, thinking, "What's the point of even trying?". They stop what they are doing, raise the white flag and say, "Game Over." and so that spells the end of the road to mission accomplished. But you know, there would be comrades and your team mates cheering you on and try to keep you going until you reach the finish line. They do what it takes, even if it meant losing their voice shouting your name at the top of their lungs.

Having not trained for a number of months transformed me back into someone who somewhat haven't played the sport since forever. I am someone, who aims for perfection and sometimes, lose patience trying to be too perfect, especially when time is limited. Time waits for no man but surely, I have to learn to take it slowly this time and know that, with patience, all would be conquered. I do get upset when I do not reach my target and I get really down when I know that I could have done better. I detest to be of a letdown, to be of a disappointment but I have reached the highest I could.

I appreciate my team mates (whom I guess would be reading this...) and don't be upset if you have helped me in a way or another but I have yet to say a word of thank you. It's not that I am/have been oblivious to your kind actions and let me say this - your little word of kindness or action of helpfulness goes a long way to/for me and with that, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. That is what friends are for, right? To be there when needed and to offer a helping hand. Sorry if I do not reply to your tags but let me say this once again - I thank you for those kind words that has been typed in that tagboard :)

It has been quite awhile since I last typed such a long entry but I felt the need to just share this tonight, after a tough evening/night of intense war(which war is not intense, tell me), shall I say.

I hope to work harder as time pass and hopefully, with my walk with God as well along with the team mates, my fitness would improve in time to come.

If you are ever down, be patient, give it some time and take it slow and things would come your way.

(thanks for reading)

Marj

Digesting the humor

From this month's Reader's Digest's @work section:

"A woman brought her daughter into my produce department at the supermarket with the intention of teaching her about food shopping. The customer picked up a nice, firm tomato and squeezed until juice spurted out. "Now, this tomato is bruised," she told her daughter. "We don't want this one.""

Hahaha...thought that was good, got me laughing when I read it.

When distance matters

There's a saying of "Absence makes the heart grows fonder". But sometimes, it's never true.

There comes a time or part of each of our lives where you would be hanging out often with your latest or new friends and then you forget about your old friends or perhaps friends whom you once used to be really great friends with or close with. Humans tend to be as such and I'm not trying to say that it's wrong, don't get the wrong idea. It's just a thing that would happen maybe, maybe not. Sometimes it's just that one little silly argument or a little minor incident and then the friendship is off.

I caught Bridewars yesterday(and it didn't turn out to be as hilarious as I'd expected). It's about 2 girls who were great friends since their childhood days and have always dreamed of getting married but became enemies when they realize that both their wedding were on the same day. What I'm trying to say here is that we shouldn't let little things like that cut the ties of a friendship.

Just thought I'd just type my thoughts in.

Always be prepared,
Marj

"Ask and it shall be given."

This morning, I asked for a muffin for breakfast and I was given! No just joking but seriously, I had a muffin for breakfast because it was bought last night.

Ok just kidding. Anyway! I took my chance to ask a question to Angela Hucles, one of US Women National Team's strikers who got plenty of games since Pia's helm at the team. They had their blog running and once awhile they have a "Ask ______" post. Here goes:

Marjory asked: You have definitely scored plenty of important goals across all friendlies, games and tournaments! My question to you is...which was the most important goal amongst all for you and why?
AH: “Thanks Marjory. That's a tough question for me because being able to score a goal at this level for me is very special and I treasure the goals I've been able to score on the national team. However, if I choose one I would say the first goal I scored in this past Olympics in our second against Japan during the semifinal. It tied the game and we went on to win 4-2. It was a good boost to get us on the right track!”

Lol at the tough question but you know, being a striker, when you score so many goals, surely there is a most important/best goal amongst all!

Thanks Ang once again and ... it's back to work!

Always be prepared,
Marj

Australia Open 2009

Whoa, the Australian Open 2009 Men's Singles have definitely ended on a kina somber note when Roger Federer couldn't hold back his tears anymore and teared up infront of the 604,000 plus spectators. It's so hard to really come so far, finish 2nd not be able to beat a history record made by a great player, Pete Sampras. I nearly teared up when I saw him tearing. I'm just guessing that he's both upset about the loss (and not being able to beat Pete Sampra's record of 14 major titles) and being touched by the massive number of fans that he has andthat was there shouting his name throughout the 4 hours over match.

Nonetheless, Rafael Nadal, at only 22 yrs, fought through and won the title for the Men's Singles. It was a brilliant match and I will say that it is not wasted time watching the match. The best part was everyone standing up clapping for Federer while he teared silently like someone who received a letter from a long-lost friend and when Rafa had his hand over Rafa and head beside Federer (see picture above). A great role model indeed, off the court and on the court.

Indeed the best ending for an awesome tennis match. Yet, another brilliant display of both players but there can only be one winner and that's Rafael Nadal.

Well done and VAMOS!

Marj
