(Perhaps) The first and the last time
The weather of late has been humid.. and I will not deny that it is hard to run in this weather, that's my take. I could have completed the 3.4km run in the frame of 15-20minutes had I not stop for 4 times but anyway, I completed it in my average timing! I hate Sundays ... because it means back to work on the next day! Week after week, gone and this year time flies really quick, too quick that I don't even realized it's already September. The end of one month and now the beginning of another month. That also means an end to my probation period in 9 days time, so hooooooooray! It's yet another week of work and I pray that this week will be a good week. Work is tiring, indeed but money is the reason why we all work, to feed ourselves and pay for whatever is needed. Sometimes working too hard doesn't pay off especially when you do not get paid for working that extra hours and worse off is that you do get the extra day of leave when a public holiday falls on a weekend (eg. this year's National day), when others get it. Sounds like you are treated like shit and that's something very reasonable to get angry about. Well, end of rant. Later.

Opportunities
A child or kid's real happiness and joy is when they get to choose what cake they want for their birthday at a cake shop and when they get to choose which toy/s they want at a toy department, with their mommy or daddy paying for it. However as the kid grows up, they know that they no longer have much freedom of choice anymore. They do not get the nod from either parents when they want to buy a certain toy or clothing or footwear when out shopping, especially when it is too costly and is then given only a certain range to choose from. From here, this is where they know that they will have to save and pay it out of their own pockets, should they want to buy that particular item. Being a kid is so much fun and don't we all wish to be a kid once again? But too bad, it happens only once.

The best friend
Still, after so long, the best friend still is the same humorous girl that I ever know, since primary 4. As the years go, I hardly have the time to meet her because of poly life, school, work, all that yadada. I've always wanted to meet her up but I never do and yes, I feel guilty thank you. Finally we met up once somewhere last year or earlier this year and she looked so different but still hold the same characteristic so thank God. I'm glad I managed to meet her up again earlier before she left for Melbourne but my apologies for bringing you to a bad eatery (but it was good for me) who cooks food not to your taste! Definitely we've quarreled but hey, that's part of a friendship and still, I'm glad to call you my best friend, Stephanie Kong! Haha...keep the funny entries coming while you're in Aussieland studying! I should sleep now goodnight.

Thou shall not steal.
Ok don't call my phone or msg me these 2 days or rather this week as my phone is being stolen on the train this morning (what luck.....)! Seriously, honestly, this uncle is way too smart to just sneak his hands in and got away with my phone. Just ... WHOA.

Hard fought, well done.
Great goal from Carli Lloyd who could have got another goal in but hit the post! YES, the team have brought home the gold! Well done and well-deserved gold medal. Thought we'd played better in the latter first half onwards, desperate sliding tackles, defending and it was all worth it. Well done Team USA. Brazil, home with the silver, just not lucky tonight. ![]() Labels: Olympics 2008 women's soccer finals

Quote of the day
“We’re getting better every single game and we have some great momentum. We expect a tough match, but we’re looking for gold.” - Angela Hucles, on the team improving. I am confident we can deliver the gold through the belief of the players in each other and also in Pia. With this win, Pia will have 6 medals added to her medal collection of the year, since her takeover of the team from Greg Ryan November last year. For the team, it will be a title that they will retain once again after winning it last Olympics with a narrow 2-1 win against Brazil. Am sure the match is going to be keeping me at the edge of my seat! Also, has anyone heard of the name of Patama? Haha... USA v Japan round 2, Brazil v USA round 2, Germany v Brazil round 2
Just what else can I say? Great performance by USA despite the many times Japan attacked in the first half. Japan did score early and were unfortunate to have that goal in but well, Ang scored the equalizing goal just exactly the same way that Shinobu scored. The 2nd goal after that was another awesome goal by Lori Chalupny to secure a 2-1 lead at HT. I was waiting for her to just shoot already but she dribbled abit more and bang, over the 5"5 Fukumoto and into the net! 3rd goal by Heather O'reilly, perfect. Chipped the ball from just outside the penalty box down the right hand side and another time, over the head of keeper Fukumoto who was out of reach for the ball and the 2 teams are separated by 2 goals in a span of 3 minutes! Last goal by Ang, another beautiful goal. Got the ball on the right flank, dribbled the ball just outside the penalty box and try to score into the net from there near the end line, and it went in and 4-1! Lauren Cheney almost had a goal but was a weak shot. Lloyd and Rampone almost had a goal too but were unfortunate. A-rod did some good runs and made some good efforts as well. The Japanese got a consolation goal off bombastic haired Eriko in the 92nd minute off a defense mistake and 1 minute later, the gold medal match is confirmed. It's yet another repeat of a Women's World Cup 2007 & Olympics 2004 final - Brazil v USA. Who will win it who will go home with the silver? This is a tough fight. Christane is on form, scoring 2 goals against Germany earlier in the day and then a hat trick against Nigeria. Then there's the tricky Daniela on the flanks and the short yet speedy Marta up front. Brazil indeed do show some classy skills and have good passes but they play heck of a dirty game and everyone knows that. 2 time women footballer of the year Brigit Prinz scored the leading goal but Brazil's Formiga scored the equalizing goal just before HT. 2nd half brought on more exciting football and Brazil scored another 3 goals to show who they were. 2 goals by Christane (yet again) and 1 goal by Marta sealed their final meet up with the ranked #1 USA for the gold medal. Looks like Brazil did do their homework after the group stages 0-0 with Germany... WWC 2007 winners Germany are ousted this time around and I am sure they will beat Japan in the bronze medal play-off. They were impressive in the WWC, conceding zero goals in that event and even beating Brazil 2-0 in the finals but now, the tables are turned and Brazil beat them even by a bigger scoreline. Like they always say, the better team wins and Brazil indeed, has shown the champions. It's yet another entertaining night and also it's time for me to hit the sack. Till then, Marj Labels: Germany v Brazil SF 1, Olympics 2008 women's soccer SF 2 USA v Japan

Difficult win
“It was a long time, but that’s what the Olympics are about. It’s never going to be easy.” - Kate Markgraf, on the delayed time during the USA's win against Canada. Indeed, the Olympics isn't easy at all. I would have been happy had the Olympic channel showed the match (after the delay due to bad weather) USA v Canada. It would definitely have been a great and thrilling match to watch for sure, sure worth the time but unfortunately, the channel was being an idiot and did not show it even when it already resumed on nbcolympics.com for all US-only residents. Nonetheless, I am happy that they won even at such a late hour, in the 2nd half of the extra time, with Kai scoring off a diving header from a cross from Shannon Boxx. Of course, it is a match that is hard to watch, USA who had won them by 1-0 scoreline in the previous 3 meetings with them and then winning 6-5 on penalties in the last meeting at the CONCACAF Olympics qualifying round. Canada indeed is a tough team. Next, they meet the noisy sharp voices Japanese come Monday, 9pm local time / 9am E.T. Exciting but I know they will definitely win for sure and again it's another round of Brazil and Germany in the other semi-final match up, round 2 of the group match eh? Singapore's brightest star
From an unknown nobody to a star, a savior of the Singapore Women's table tennis team. She has definitely saved the blushes of Li Jia Wei and Wang Yue Gu who lost their singles matches. This youngster indeed has great composure that both her team mates should ought to learn from. Finally, a medal for Singapore in the Olympics 2008! You've no idea how mad Shiyun, Yanzi and I were going when were watching the teeth-gritting match. It was crazy and yes, I was screaming at those smacks that the korean returned from Feng Tianwei. Great job Singapore, well done. Labels: Feng Tianwei, Singapore women's tabletennis

USA 4 New Zealand 0
Perhaps one of the best game ever watched on tv. Everyone did well in the team and they had good possessing of the ball right from the blow of the whistle to the end of the game. Plenty of good 1-2 passes in the midfield esp with O'reilly, Lloyd and Boxx. Great vision of playing long balls from the back from Rampone, Chups. I must give extra props to Rachel Buehler who had her first Olympic start. She did exceptionally well. Again, everyone was trying to get on the scoresheet which is a good sign. Chups almost had a goal off the post but Ang took the rebound and the NZ keeper was just unfortunate not to fully block out the ball. It's good to see those goal scorers getting on the scoresheet today. Finally they score an olympic goal. Ang has been scoring impt goals for us in the tune up to the olympics but this time, she scored a truly important Olympic goal for herself and the team, not only to add onto the goal diff that the team will have. Boxxy was great in midfield for us, winning plenty of headers and blocking out all the balls. The very quick O'reilly goal was by far a very beautiful goal and it goes to show that we're taking any chances that comes by. I thought that could go out but it went in. Well done to O'reilly and Tarp's goal was another well taken chance as well. The NZ just couldn't break through our defence line hardly. In fact, Solo was hardly threatened except for the 2 or 3 corners that NZ had and one side netting shot by Hill and the shot on target by Hearn/Yearn. Kai could have scored but again Wagner played the ball too fast for Kai to latch onto it. Nonetheless, Kai pressured very well at the top. I'm glad that this team has bounced back from losing 0-2 to Norway to winning 1-0 to Japan and then 4 goals to NZ. Great win great win, this team is going far. The cutest thing was seeing little Rylie with the pacifier and waving the USA flag in the stands! The team will go far, for sure. On another note, Canada's not doing well against Sweden but I predicted that the Swedes will win by a goal and they did 2-1! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From the hotel room, to the lift, to the seaside, basketball court, overhead bridge, park, playground, to the streets and play heading with a random fella, back to outside the hotel and finally back into the hotel. This has got to be the craziest walk I've ever seen by Tobin! The only one I saw was a ball skill trick she did with Casey Nogueira but this one, is FREAKING CRR-AZY. She's just talented and it's good that she's in the Olympic team. She's gona be a great for the future, am sure! I need to beefy up my skills. Michael Phelps
Enough of sharepoint, I need a break.Yes yes, a break into the Olympics swimming events! Michael Phelps, king of the pool, one of the best (male) swimmers US has ever groomed. Did anyone see how he celebrated with team mate Garrett Weber-Gale when they were announced champions for the 4x100m race? I'm sure most of you watched the race, even if it's the repeat because I watched the repeat, haha :) That one small inch makes such a huge difference. Maybe we all shouldn't clip our nails the next time we swim? For awhile I thought I was seeing fangs in his set of teeth because he really seemed like he owned one when he opened his mouth so big. The commentator was sure trying to pull some humor, "He can open his mouth so big, but we all don't know for how long." Haha...I'm sure it will continue for the next 6 IM or team events that he is going to participate in. I'm sure he will break Mark Spitz's record of 8 Olympic gold medals. and from now on, I am going to make it a point to swim at least once every week. There you go, his celebration. I'm sure everyone saw it like I did and did I mention, I love the US flag on the speedo suits.Out, Marj Labels: Michael Phelps, Olympics 2008

Women's Soccer @ Olympics 2008
No doubt at all, am I happy that the USA won 1-0 to Japan. Indeed, only a well strike beautiful goal by Carli Lloyd put the 2 teams apart. The beginning of the match they were nervous and had some bad passing and clashing but afterwhich, they got calm and composed and played some beautiful game. Hope Solo made some brilliant saves, defenders such as Heather Mitts and Stephanie Cox got some shots on target, Boxxy contributed 2 shots on target which was really well struck. The one player that was running alot was Heather O'reilly on the right flank. She came back even to defend when Japan was attacking, well done. Indeed a game so well fought between both sides and yes, the better team won. A quick 0-2 lost to Norway in the 1st match made them stronger and they had to win this game against Japan if not no go to the quarters. I had my bet on Sweden that they will definitely have to win Argentina and when I flipped to that channel, indeed they won it 1-0 this evening. Brazil would definitely win North Korea for sure(in which they have won 2-1), with the capability of their players such as Christane and Marta. Little did I know that North Korea would put a goal back in the last minute. Canada only managed to salvage a 1-1 with China, given their first ever qualification to the Olympics. That's not bad for a start given how strong china is, despite the fact that they didn't have their female Wayne Rooney, Ma Xiaoxu. Sinclair scored for Canada and I'm happy that Kara Lang scored the goal-winner against Argentina in the previous game. With Norway currently atop of Group G with their 1-0 (also) win against New Zealand, the USA have to fight hard yet again and try to give themselves another 3 points, which I am sure that they will be able to it, given the team spirit and the belief of Pia Sundhage in the team. Go Team USA, your in my heart. ![]() Happy National Day, Singapore. Out, Marj Labels: Olympics 2008 women's soccer group stages

Bye Twinkle
The last time I saw you was perhaps during CNY last year. That is, indeed, about a year back or more. I got news yesterday that you died earlier in the day and that you are now cremated at Mount Vernon. I'm shocked and well, saddened that you are now gone in the heaven of all pets. I've loved you the same, though you are only a dog. But you're just so special to me all this while despite you licking me on my face each time you see me. I will definitely miss the sound of that little bell ringing attached to your collar each time I go visit you. You run to the door, sniffing sniffing away, trying to guess who's that. You'll definitely be missed. It's sad that I didn't get to see you for the past one year and a half and yes, I do miss playing around with you. No matter what, you'll live on in my heart and that picture of me carrying you will always remain in my wallet. Love you the same, Twinkle!

It's over, not.
Same like with the other US Women National team followers, I've been shocked that they lost 2 goals to Norway in their opening Olympic match. I had full flight of confidence that they would win it, given that they had won their previous friendlies/games against Norway, beating them 4-0 in the Algarve Cup and 4-0 again on the way to the Olympics. But I have to say, that Norway are indeed a strong team and this time, they did really show that they are strong by upsetting the no. #1 ranked USA. I hear you, Nadia. Definitely not what the team had wanted, to go down 2 goals in the early 4 minutes, definitely not what Pia had wanted to achieve at the end of the match. But surely, this team, with such strong unity and the desire to fight back, will win it in the next game against Japan, who drew a tough fight with New Zealand 2-2. The Olympics indeed had a few shocking opening game news, with Brazil drawing goal-less with 2007 WWC Champions Germany and China winning the Swedes 2-1. I'm hopeful for the US team and they will come back, they will. It's not the end just yet. On the side note, my prediction was on the spot when I picked Canada to win Argentina and Kara Lang scored the winning 2nd goal for Canada! Labels: Olympics 2008 women's soccer group stages

(Un)committable
Seemed that everyone decided to delay their waking up time by 5 minutes or just snooze their alarm/s, which could be the one possible reason why the street traffic was so congested in the morning. Alarm rings at 8:30am and they decided to give it another 2-3minutes before waking up. Working FT is quite a chore sometimes because it means that you have to wake up at the same time ever-ry-day and it's usually in the morning. What more is that if you wake up later than your usual time, chances are you will miss your bus and you have to wait for another one and we all know what's the morning rush hour is like. I made a grave mistake this morning by sitting a man away from this man who was blasting some 80s rock music from his bag. Sure it was distracting and annoying because everyone in the train were trying to get some sleep. Thankfully, there was this man infront of me who took the initiative to tell that music man to off his music and somehow that man was saying something in malay like, "sini boleh..sangat." I continued sleeping. Thank God he alighted some 2 stops later. But if you'd want to share or blast your music, it'd better be good music or else, off.that.player.of.yours. I've been physically tired and sleepy for these few months and I have to honestly admit that I've not been able to fully give my 100% commitment to work. I have to say I've definitely grown lazy and there are times where by I do feel that I just want to stop working or degrade down to just working part-time. Indeed, as Bob Dylan has sung it - For the times, they are a changing. and and.....no more beef patties in burgers in the morning for me, NO MORE. Later, Marj

TGIF
Feels so good that it's near the weekends now, after another hard week of work, yet. The weather has been insanely insane, hot and then rain and after the rain, it gets hot again and this gets people falling sick. Really irritating and getting on everyone's nerves. Can't we have some snow for once then perhaps all students don't have to go to school and all transports will have to stop working for those days. I really wonder how the world will be like when one day everyone just stop working and stop what they are doing. Imagine no Macdonalds food, everyone stops making food, trains and buses stop moving, etc. I wish I can just don't work and have millions dropping on me, just like what my colleague wishes for but well, that's not realistic unless you can find a husband who earns millions like Bill Gates. I'm sure everyone wishes for that but another thing is that, you can't force love. Oh well, it's yet another few hours before calling it a day and I dread having to wake up for work everyday. Seems that working Part Time is still the best ever, perhaps, then you get to choose when you want to turn up, when you want to leave the office. I plan to make footballing out of my career and really, I want to play soccer like everyday but not here. I have plans to just play here for awhile more, perhaps a couple more years before moving where else to play. Maybe in the states maybe in Canada, maybe Australia, I don't know. Will have to see about it. As for now, I want to plan out my future. Time waits for no man. On another note, I've downgraded my handphone to a non-touch screen Sony Ericsson K770i, only for today though. Screw that Samsung phone which screen flickers at random moments, you're going under serious repair! Later, Marj
