The female Maple Leafs
Christine Sinclair!(12), Kristina Kiss (2), Randee Hermus (11, far right) and Clare Rustard (4) and Sophie Schmidt (beside me) Never ever leave a camera with a man or else... One of the Team's staff. I can't believe I got to meet Canada's deadly female soccer striker Christine Sinclair and one of the popular players Kara Lang and their number one GK Erlin McLeod! Getting some of their signatures were the best thing ever. Sometimes you just got to seize the opportunity when it comes! Suppose to attend a bbq but was too far off so I decided to head somewhere nearer to home to catch Singapore and Canada in action in which the Canadians proudly won 8-0! The kid and Anderson
"Anderson Anderson, he's better than KlebersonAnderson-son-son , he's a midfielder magician To the left, to the right, to the samba beat all night He is fast, he is class and he's shits on Fabregas" - as sung by 13 yr old, Nishok Then, this song attracted the ears of Anderson and the next thing is he receives Anderson's boots with a throw and the next second, he asked the Brazilian media officer to invite the boy down to the field and spoke to the boy for 5 minutes! He even signed the boots for the boy and allowed the the boy to take a photo of him (Anderson)! Oh man I AM SO DEAD JEALOUS. I'm usually got crazy over this kina thing but well, as Nisok has put it, Anderson's a midfielder magician and indeed, Anderson's the best midfielder I've ever seen for his age and the best signing SAF has made. I wish I was Nishok. Read today's TNP Page 60. Out, Marj Labels: Anderson in Singapore, Anderson Luis de Abreu Oliveira

one by one, gone.
In every work place, people come and go at any time of the month, any time of the year, any time of the century, depending whether they are happy or dissatisfied with the job or decided to move onto new pastures. When you have worked with someone for quite awhile and you hear news that he/she is leaving, your heart kina sinks in, especially when you know that that person can bring you joy or laughter or is someone you have got close with through the time when you joined the company. But well, that's what working life is all about, you meet new people all the time, that is how it goes. You don't get to choose who you want to work with. It's the same everywhere even in sports, in the teams. There are times where you don't get to choose who you want to play/team with because you don't have the higher authority. All instructions (mainly) travel top down and on the field, it's where team work comes in play where everyone work together to score or prevent goals. No matter who comes in, you have to be able to play with that player (and the game), there is no way you can say no, I'm quitting this game because we don't have this good gameplay chemistry between us. That's not fair. Anyhow...I'll be the statistic taker for my soccer team in their upcoming league competitions (if I go to the matches, that is) and for the record, I've become the biggest number owner on a jersey after Ronaldinho(who holds 80 for AC Milan), 94. It's not a random number I've picked but because there's a meaning behind that number. Out, Marj

Quote of the day
“I am not sure if I can give you three players, but I can still give you 18 who will be the leaders." - Abby Wambach Perhaps the best sentence said, for a player who through a freak accident, is out of the Olympics and also has been a great leader for the young players on the roster.

Need trust
It's so so fantastic to be able to watch soccer 'live' while at work. Eh hm...while waiting for transfers of HUGE files... It was a tight game between the US and Brazil until the goal came from the flying Hawaiian, Tasha Kai to make another 1-0 win for the US! A free kick from Lloyd on the right and then she heads the ball into the net and goal, off they were into celebration, for their last match before heading for the Olympics and one thing is for sure, is that they will be going without their leading scorer, Abby Wambach. In the 31st minute, while trying to take a shot while with the ball, she clashed into Andreia Rosa and went down on the ground, signaling that she is unable to continue play. She remained there for 6 minutes while the team medic attended to her before placing her on the stretcher with an inflated support thing and zooming off to the Hospital, where it's confirmed that she has fractured both her left tibula and fibula, which reminds me of my injury, just that I didn't break it. Abby's a tough ball and she won't fall so easily but another's for sure is that she will miss the Olympics. Everyone's sad about this whole thing and everyone's starting to go, "oh man she's the one who brings the whole team together, she's the one who can score goals for us, blah blah" and on and on. But look, the team still has Kai and young A-Rod who has been scoring a couple of goals and showed what she has with her speed and scoring abilities. There is also the power of O'reilly and Tarp on each flank, the creativity, both defend and attack of Boxxy and Carli Lloyd in the centre midfield. There are the 4 defenders, 3 of which who have been in 2 or 3 Olympics, 1 young flanked defenders starter who have been on international stage even in her youth. "I’m only one player, and you can never win a championship with just one player. I have the utmost confidence in this team bringing home the gold", said the tough ball. But what touched me the most was how Tarp and Kai reacted:
What I can only say for now is that I'm still confident that the US Women's Soccer team will bring home the gold from the Olympics and also that the soccer team I'm in now is doing fine and were getting together well and for that, I'm happy. With that being said, ![]() ![]() May Abby have a good recovery and thank you Tasha Kai for scoring and giving us the win! Loughborough University
Ah yes, Loughborough University. That's the Uni who will give me the cert of BA(Hons) for Graphic Communications when I complete my degree in NAFA, assuming I manage to get into the course, that is. I was just researching on their Uni and I entered their Athletic department and found out that they have Women's Football (well...it's British not American) and whoa, I have to say that their Women's Football team are champions of so many events. Ok nuff said. BRING ME THERE LIKE NOW, someone pls grant me my wish.

Then suddenly
I know I've said this for the hundredth and fifteen time but I'll just repeat it again - time flies. It feels like it has only been just a month since I graduated but as a matter of fact, it's been 4 months since my graduation and here I am, out in the working world while I await NAFA's next opening application date. As I sit here typing this, the molecules of the burning smell come traveling to my nostrils and I found out that my dad had actually (badly) burned the bun that he had intended to steam initially with our new microwave oven. I don't know how or what the heck did he do but I guess he never read and followed the instructions carefully. Anyway, had a friendly with ITE Simei just yesterday and I was deployed to play as a left-back in the second half which left me stunned because I have always been in the left mid all along or seldom-ly in center mid. Playing in defence was just something unfamiliar to me but nonetheless, I put on my jersey and headed for the field. I made a couple of good clearances and I would say that I took a good free kick (at least the ball went up...) but it went to Aileen instead of Yatie, who I have planned to pass to. Other than that, I'm still playing as an attacking defender because I've been in midfield all along. It's a matter of learning and getting to adapt. Just like our long-term goal, we have to learn how to be versatile. Nonetheless, it always feels good, esp when you had a hard day, to have people who compliment you in one way or another on your performance in the match :) and and...I think I just want to be a happy and single for now.

Spanish reign @ Wimbledon, dutch reign @ Old Trafford?
![]() Once again, Nadal wins the Wimbledon and breaks Federer's record of 6th successive time winner of the Wimbledon! It was a tough fight and the best part was Nadal coming back from 0-3 down in the 2nd game! He chased back 3-3 and then he went down 4-3, chased 4-4 and won the next 2 sets! There was good rallies and good come backs from both but well, the trophy had to go to the more deserved player who fought so hard on a ground that wasn't his forte-ground, came back despite a set which is lost 0-40. Well done, Rafael! Vamos! The king is dead; long live the king. Indeed ![]() It would be nice to see another dutch at Old Trafford... though we could have make it to 3 dutchs at Old Trafford had RvN not left for Real Madrid 2 seasons ago. As much as I am a fan of Ajax and hoping that they'd not lose their star striker, I would very much like to see him in a United jersey this coming season! If only we had RvN still...it would be a good partnership between the 2 of them. But well, we have Rooney, Ronaldo (who looks to remain at United this season, so too bad Madrid and yes, you can give up and stop trying) and we're the power house! I hope we do retain that title! Come Huntelaar, come to United, the 3 times European Champions, 10 times FA Cup Winners and 10 times Premier League winners! RvN has savored being a FA Cup Winner and a Premierleague winner, so you will do the same! You said you want to savor that right? Dan the man!
De ridder for Wigan! Now it's good that I'll still be able to watch him play in the EPL. I've been happy since his arrival in the EPL from Celta Vigo to Birmingham and then they cancelled his contract (WTH!?!) and then Stevie Bruce to the rescue, signed him again at Wigan! "Daniel is an exciting player," he said, "and I'm convinced he can make an impact at Wigan. He has very quick feet and can pull off the unexpected, he's a player with a trick, who can go past defenders and has an eye for a pass. "He is also versatile enough to play in a number of positions." This is definitely good news to me if not for you! ![]() Labels: Daniel de Ridder

Spanish reign
![]() Vamos Rafael! Yet again another win in the Wimbledon! A change of attire from the tones of green to an all innocent and pure white this time and he's looking good all the time! Just after Spain's great win in the Euro 2008 as the newspaper has expected with Spain leading 55 % to Germany's 45%, it's now his turn to win but not yet the Wimbledon title! But I forsee him claiming the men's title anyway with those powerful forehand smashes...! Labels: Rafael Nadal, Wimbledon 2008
