CNY 2008

CNY this year was the same as the previous year. In fact, every year's the same. Collection of ang baos and exchanging for those married ones, eating and savoring those cookies, gambling, eating the lo hei. I don't have much pictures from this year's CNY, only a few:

The family CNY's first day dress up

Little saliva-all-over Brandon and Chloe

3 years old Nathan.

Guess what? Both Hanis and Nunu came by for CNY visit!
Yes, I was in a above the knee dress...!

More photos to come later...

Dinner with Jesus

What if one day you receive an invitation card, stating:

You're invited to dinner with Jesus from Nazareth
8pm / Milano's
Don't be late!

and it doesn't state who is it from, neither does it state any other messages that is intended for you. All that is there on the card is a short and sweet sentence, telling you who you're having dinner with, apart from your name and address and a stamp on it. There's no whatever contact number either. What would you do? How would you react? What would you say? Would you go or will you think it's a prank and give it a miss?

What is even more unnerving to you is that, during the conversation at dinner, Jesus knows every single thing about you including anecdotes of your life. He knows what you studied, he knows where you've been on a date, etcetera. Towards the end of the meal, while you try to reach out for the leather holder containing the bill, Jesus stopped you from doing so and upon which, you noticed a through-hole wound on his wrist. The wound that was received through him hanging on the cross while dying for all humans' sins. It is, at then, do you realize that that is no prank Jesus and indeed it is Jesus, the son of God, your Creator, the one who created mankind to have a relationship with them, only for some to reject him.

Would you want to have another dinner with Jesus?

As for me, I would go, I would want definitely want to meet my Creator and clear my doubts and ask as many questions as possible. It is, sure weird to have to be invited to dinner with your God but wouldn't you want to meet him in person? Wouldn't you want to have the right answers from the one above?

I just got done reading David Gregory's of Dinner with the Perfect Stranger and A day with the perfect Stranger and both books, are of good reads and I can't agree more, that there is finally a defense for Christianity. But nonetheless, read it up if you have the time, it's worth your time reading.

Lastly, congrats to Singapore for winning the bid to host the 2010 Youth Olympic Games, a great start for the nation. Could that also mean that everyone will be entitled to using the event's facilities then? ;) I was quite nervous on awaiting Jacques Rogge to announce the winner right back at home. I wasn't that enthusiastic on being part of the Padang but well, congrats little nation.

Reminsince

Sometimes when I glance or take a look at the street side eateries in the night, it reminds me of the street side shops in the states or in Hong Kong. It's exactly the same, especially at night. It really brings me back to when I was there in those 2 countries for a holiday and it makes me want to go back there again for a re-visit...

Anyway CNY has been good as like every year, the tossing of the Yu Sheng, eating of those cookies and the collection of ang baos. Brandon has grown bigger now, Cathy's vocab is getting better and now my cousin's new born, Chloe is a few months old. Every year, kids do grow. I'll put up just a few photos from this year's CNY later. Do check back for the photos.

Preparations for CNY

...with plenty of work and dust.

I'm taking a break out for now of clearing out unwanted stuff from my room, be it the shelves or the drawers. Practically...just everywhere. I've thrown out many many things, including nonsensical stuff that I've made and drawn some 2-3 years ago, which I still keep and now, I have much more space and no, not that satisfied because... my brother has his own new revamped room with plenty of space! Yes, space which I will need because I have zillions of shoes and I want to keep those shoes in a cupboard with their boxes, of course. Right now, they're sitting in the store room.

It has been weeks of tiredness in the past weeks. Cleaning and clearing up the house, training thrice a week that could sometimes end before 2200h. It's crazy and by then when I get home, I'm eating very late dinner and by then when I sleep, it's already before the strike of the next day. Also, there's work. I'm relieved that its only 4 hours and that I'm about done with working at Mediacorp, soon.

Anyway, it's time I get back to packing and clearing up the room so Gong Xi Fa Cai to all celebrating and see you later!

Out,
Marj
