Year 2007
The year 2007 has been no doubt a better year than the previous 2006. I got to play much more soccer, got to enjoy life on the pitch. Of course, there are more to than just soccer in this year. Alongside that, I got to know more people, know people who have made an impact in my life, know great friends whom I know I can laugh and joke, share my sorrows and joy, who I can count on to doh, friends whom I know that I can confide in and trust. It has been a year of blessing, in certain ways. But what I do wish for is a much better year ahead with a family that can live in much more harmony and peace. My resolutions for the year 2008:
Christmas has been great, got great gifts and presents and mom got me a Manchester United Annual 2008 DVD. I can't be more than happy than that, plus a Manchester united towel from the neighbor. Other gifts include vouchers and others. Oh well, it's another about 7.5 hours before 2008 and...it's funny how people paaaaaaaarty like wild monkeys and celebrate 2008 while to me, it's just another ordinary day. Anyway, HAPPY 2008 TO ALL AND MANY HAPPY RETURNS :) and happy 13th birthday to my brother and I miss you the same.

Kids and young adults these days...
It only took that one second for that boy, to say: **** you c******* a******! 6, 9! The moment I heard those, I looked out to see which mouth did the words come out from. I couldn't believe that came out of his mouth, it didn't matter who it was directed at(though it seemed to me that it somehow was for the security guard whom I don't know did what). He is only in secondary 1 and he was yelling those away at the top of his voice. Just from my unit, I could hear it loud and clear, boy. Had his parents know that he said those, he is going to get a good swollen backside and never to be allowed out of his house for a period of time. Furthermore, he was pointing both his 3rd fingers infront of 1 or 2 boys younger than him. It's scary if the younger kids pick those up. Sometimes, when the kid grows up, they don't change much as well. They choose to remain stubborn and not listen to their parents. My older sister is already 21 and well, at least, be old enough to think proper and also think when you're doing things. I can't believe she thought that it takes 30minutes to boil up a good tasty winter melon soup. The fact is, it takes a good 4-5 hours to have a well boiled good winter melon soup. The fridge was dry of carrots so she took the corn for substitute and added to the winter melon in the pot and brought it to boil. Despite the many times my mother telling her that the soup will turn out tasteless, she insisted, "what do you want me to do now now that it's already boiling half way?". Stupid or what? Just take it out then and boil it tomorrow, dumb nut. This is the funniest part - because she knew the soup will be tasteless(but she boiled it anyway, for the sake of doing so -_-), she added sesame oil in. !! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the bottle of sesame oil in her hands. Nobody cooks like that! Only a kitchen cook noob like her cooks this way. I'm just disgusted. You mean, you'd rather have your bf drink a tasteless soup than a tasty well boiled soup? What a girlfriend... Can't they all be any better and more sensible than this? Out, Marj

Hong Kong Trip
Hong Kong's quite a pretty place to go, to visit. But if you were to live there, then I think it's kina difficult to survive because everyone's so brand conscious. It's either you're rich or you're poor. There's no middle-class people. The rich are often clothed in branded clothings - Gucci, Fendi, Coach, Luis Vutton, D&G, Yves Saint Lauren, Y-3, to name a few. From head to toe, you see it. Everywhere I go, I see people carrying expensive stuff and whipping out their Nikon and Canon SLRs, snapping away. In the night, the streets are thronged with people, the locals and the foreigns and the atmosphere feels so different as compared to the crowded streets in town of Singapore. It just doesn't feel the same. Everywhere, it's a contrast of the poor and rich. Run down housing built above the neat and sleek shopping malls, beggars without limps or just old people sitting outside neat stores with the containers only filled with 3 coins worth HK3 maybe. There was one beggar I saw, was lying flat down, face down on a piece of cloth or newspaper, hands clutching his container of few cents money, without his 2 legs. He didn't have any legs, it was amputated before the knee. He was chained with a leash-like to his wheelchair behind him. That's, the worst beggar I saw in my 4 days there. Also, when you are in HK, try to avoid banging into people because they will give you a stare or either they do not apologize. Anyway, I shall just move onto the pictures from the trip: Train station and it's route. I have to say that their digital train map is much better than Singapore's. HK people > creative than Singaporeans. I took a video in the train, you will agree with me: I thought this was funny. It says NOW OPEN but the shutters are closed. 3 Level Adidas concept store at Kowloon I think. Streets at night at Kowloon. Buildings by the sea, just outside the open area of World Trade city Shopping mall. Wonderful Christmas decors outside World Trade City Shopping mall.Lakham Place: The outside of the "back" exit of the shopping mall.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Inside Lakham Place Shopping mall. The 3rd floor had a mini Christmas walkthrough installation built. Really nice and the lights change colors at every 5 seconds interval. ![]() ![]() ![]() The really long escalator to level 6. A must-drop by eatery! Fast food delivery at your table and good food! And another, just nearby our hotel, walking distance.Their Chee Cheong Fun and you tiao chee cheong fun, a must try. The sea with hazy skies alongside Hollywood walk of fame. At a bridge at the end of the walk of the Hollywood Walk of fame.Gota love the Christmas lightings at the building behind. On the last day, we spent the morning till 4pm walking Fa Yuen Street, looking at shoes and Ladies Street, which is just before Fa Yuen Street, seeing what good stuff we can get. But apparently, the stuff at Ladies Street are pretty ridiculous for certain stuff. But when you walk away, the woman will shout and say that she will give you your price. Funny isn't it. They do sell soccer jerseys full kit that are like the real deal too. Both in So that's all from me and to those who celebrate Christmas, it's time to prepare and have a great time of preparation!Later, Marj Labels: Hong Kong, Kowloon, Ladies Street, Mong Kok, Tim Tsa Tsui

Off for a holiday!
Yes yes yes, it's time to enjoy at this time of the year! Not Christmas though but the holiday peak period before X'mas! I'm off to Hong Kong for a good 3 days (well, hopefully!) and all is done, packed and it sure seem like I was packing for a 1 week holiday, ha! The US Airlines will take me there in the early hours of the morning. (Please pray for my safety!) The flight's at around 6-ish am so...which means I have to be there at 4-ish am(Oh gawd). Will I be turning in tonight? Good question. Maybe no, maybe yes. I might stay up to see what's good on tv after tonight's Super Sunday matches: Manchester United v Liverpool and Chelsea v Arsenal respectively. I'm anticipating both to be extremely exhilarating and nerving matches, keeping me at the edge of my seat! Manchester United must win tonight, we must. [EDIT] Oh hay yay, Manchester United won tonight by a goal! Who cares, so what if it's only one? We still win and we get the 3 points! Wonderful by little Carlo. Good effort tonight by Liverpool and surely Babel and Torres looked dangerous but the Vidic, Rio and Evra was good enough to keep them out and I have to say that Anderson did well in midfield. Well done, lad. [/EDIT] In the mean time, have a great and blessed holiday and week, all! Can hardly wait anymore, Marj (PS: Nunu - I hope you're coping well and know that no matter what, you have Hanis and myself who love you and are here for you!) The fixed mentality
The parents, with their 2 children, enters Royal Sporting House to get a new pair of shoes for their 6 year old son. The son tries on the new shoes while his 4 year old sister tries on a pair of soccer boots off the shelves. Daughter: Mommy, see, this soccer shoe fit me just nice! Mother: No girl, you are not a boy and only boys play soccer. Now put that back! ---- Why is it that every mother thinks this way? Soccer is not a game for boys and men or rather the male species. It is also a sport that female can play and can play it equally well. In Singapore, 90% mothers think this way and disallow their daughters to be in this sport. They always have and keep this stereotype that soccer is only played by the males. In this country, soccer is seen as a sport that will turn a lady into a manly woman or into bungs or just man which is not true! Well, it may only be true only to some but not all. Time and again, mothers stereotype and emphasize on the point that a lady will be like a man if she plays soccer. I hate it whenever I hear people saying that girls can't play soccer and worse when they say that the girls who play soccer look just really like men. Like I've said, it's only to some not all. Not every female soccer player wana be a man, no. That isn't the case at all. " An assumption unusual in psychology today is that the subjective human being has an important value which is basic; that no matter how he may be labeled and evaluated he is a human person first of all, and most deeply. " Carl Rogers, 196 Afterall, we are all humans and so people should stop trying to make assumptions as well(in this case). I wish all mothers would have a change in this mentality. Out, Marj

Coever Coaching
Thank God it didn't rain in the 2 day course. Thank God it rained only after everything ended. Anyway, in a way it was kina worth it paying $68 for this 2 day course by Alfred Galustain. In a nutshell, it was fruitful and enjoyable. Learned many things such as knowing how to conduct a good training, how to make training interesting, planning, the pyramid of speed and a player, to name a few. There were also practical sessions out on the synthetic field in both days and we get to do some of the sessions which was fun. Unfortunately, were the only students there and the youngest of the whole 20(I think) lot. I might plan to do coaching as a part-time job after poly or as a 2nd job. I'm still in the process of deciding whether I want to pursue studies in design or sports because both are what I want to do. At the end of the day, there have to be a choice made and so I must decide. Maybe when I come out into the working society, I'll be holding 2 jobs, one as an advertising designer, the other as a part-time player/coach or sports psychology. Who knows? So, anyway, we got our certs of participation and then got a picture with Alf: ![]() ![]() (Click for bigger view) I'm not good with S-league players' name (because I do not follow S-league) . All I know is that that guy on the far left was a ex S-league player and that's the end of it. I'm tired now so I'm off for some rest. Till then, Marj Labels: Alfred Galustain, Coever Coaching Singapore

Furthering
I wana further my soccer training overseas but it's going to be expensive. It's not cheap living overseas, studying overseas and my parents can never afford to send me overseas. I'm currently on a $10/hr job, working once a week, with the latter part of december will be working twice a week. If I had the money, I would want to go for a year-round course or even better, if they have a short 3-month course kina programme. If I had the choice to choose which U to go, I would choose UCLA or UNC because they have the best women soccer team there. The best would be able to get a scholarship at RP and then be able to go overseas to study, at least I wouldn't have to worry so much about the heavy cost. From there, go to the Uni and then play for the Uni and then in the league. I'm trying to save up now and see how much I can save 2-3 years later. Kind of too late by then, wouldn't it? But like Jennifer told me this, "you should never give up on a dream if it's in your heart." I do not really have accomplished dreams or dreams that come true, maybe only one or two and I want to make this dream of going overseas to play for UCLA/UNC count and I will work towards it. (Somehow I kind of believe I will forget this dream I'm chasing) When Stephanie said this, "please stop buying soccer merch ;) and then you'll be able to save up quicker!" I just had to ... well, agree with that but well, I do not stop buying them and that's the life of a soccer player, like me. Anyway, Tyler's off to the UK for his studies, Lyndsay's off to UK too for medicine studies in Sept (!!) and I never knew she'd already left until we were exchanging convos on msn the other night and Doug, is off back to his homey Canada to study God-knows-what. It has been a rainy day and it's going to be a comfy sleep tonight. Later, Marj

Sometimes...
I hate how I miss my hometown in OK. I hate how time flies so slowly and how time passes so quickly like that. I hate how messy and disorganized by table looks at times. I hate how silly and stupid I've been when I look back in time. I hate how sometimes I get so indecisive. I hate it when I have to walk with pain on the reoccurring left anterior shin. I hate that I have to wait another 2 years for you to come back for good because I've been waiting since 11 years ago. I hate how much I miss you each time I look at your photo nicely framed up on my table. I hate how much I yearn for you to come back and how much I yearn to go over and see you. I hate how expensive the air ticket is to go over and visit you. I hate how messy and disorganized my table is sometimes. I hate how our last photos at the airport, during our last moments before you left, got lost because of my secondary school teacher. I hate these and sometimes I wish I didn't have to be like this, at all.
