(extracted from 987FM top 100)
till now, i still can't understand why the Killers and the Fray aint even in the chart.

I cant barely remember anything that happened in 2009. I guess it was all too monotonous. A few things I remember are the completion of my first 42km marathon (to better last time, i signed up again for 2010 Sundown), passing my Class 3 first time with SIX points, and the close army friends I made.

For 2010. The emphasis is simple enough. Self-Improvement and Self-Discipline. As many other guys would say, the mere thought of having wasted the last 2 years relative to our female peers would probably push us on in our studies, and to strive for greater academic excellence. and from now till then, self-improvement and maximising the free time now is the only thing I'm thinking about till matriculation.

Later.

i still have a screeching sound in my eyes. maybe its the aftermath of the live Coldplay concert i just came back from.

not many ppl will pay to go for live concerts, let alone 200 bucks plus. but then again, i truly appreciate music, and that live concerts just have a different touch to them, the ambience, the atmosphere. this concert just further re-enforces why Coldplay will be my fav band of all-time, at least in the near future.

there was an opening act b4 the concert, by some band called mercury rev. we managed to squeeze all the way at the front, right smack in the middle. we tot we could like stay there, cos even though our tix was the most ex, it was like 30+ rows at the back. but after the gig, they forced everyone back to their seats. after giving up the thought to smoke our way around, we went back to our seats. sitting there for ard 5 mins, the lights went off, and "Life in Technicolor" started, marking the start of the concert. we just immediately stood up, and pushed our way at least 10 rows in front.

Coldplay started off with "Violet Hill", then proceeded to churn out their older hits like "In My Place", "Clocks" and "Yellow". The atmosphere was great, there was this huge background right behind the band that kept changing its pictures. there were like 3 huge balloons at the roof, with a projector projecting images of the bands' every single movements on them. and definitely not forgetting the outstanding and scillinating lights and laser display. During "Yellow", to fit the theme, there were many yellow balloons released from god-knows-where, and the crowd just kept hitting up into the air. the crowd was excellent too, singing loudly to the tune of the hugely popular hits.

Chris Martin is an excellent musician and entertainer. During "Cemeteries in London", which was the song that followed, he kept taunting the crowd by feigning to sing, but ran out of breath everytime. the way he interacted with the crowd? full marks! and not forgetting the constant enquiry if everyone was doing well. He kept acknowledging and thanking the crowd for all that passion and energy! "42" came right after, followed by "Fix You". The latter has to be the most meaningful song i have ever listened to, a pity it was not sung with much more conviction. cos in many overseas concerts, Chris Martin would swing this fireball thing round and round just before the drums come in, and releasing it into the sky. do see the official "Fix You" video and you will know. then again, in such an indoor stadium, it's not the most possible. the song definitely brought tears to many in the crowd, cos the song probably meant a lot to many, including myself, and helped many through difficult times.

There was a medley of "God put a smile on your face" and "Talk", and the transition was seamless. Then he thanked everyone else, dedicated the following song to someone, and carried on with the piano version of "The Hardest Part". The song ended with the melodious tune of "Postcards From Far Away". The tune's just amazing, too bad it only lasts 40 seconds! and i would probably spoil my repeat button on my ipod listening this. i would wish for anyone to play that tune, or to even teach me! Running back to mid-stage, "Viva la Vida" was next, the"Oooh" section was the most thrilling, because the crowd had sung it so many times to spur on the band, and later on, even sang it to prompt the encore. "Lost!" was right after that. After "Strawberry Swing", they ran into the crowd on the left, bringing the cheers to many at the far away end of the stadium to sing the acoustic version of "Speed of Sound". There was then this medley of famous songs like "I'm A Believer" etc.

The mexcian wave of handphones was next, meaning the crowd would do the kallang wave, but using handphone lights. we squeezed right up to the front, cos everyone was distracted by the wave thingy, as it was used to delay time as Chris Martin and his mates ran back to mid-stage. then ending off with "Politik" and "Lovers in Japan". The latter may not be my fav song, but the performance for the song was the most memorable! With all the random japanese pictures of the Japanese countryside, along with Chris Martin dancing with a Jap umbrella, and the balloons at the top bursting to release millions and millions of plastic colourful butterflies, that had to be the best rendition and climax. the music was smooth and had an excellent beat to it. Capping it off, they finished "Death and All of His Friends", then thanking the crowd and bowing in arms, they ran off stage.

After all that "Viva la Vida" Ooooh, The encore came along, and "The Scientist", which is Coldplay's most popular song, was dished out. How touching and fitting, and wad a great repetitive tune. lastly was "Life in Techncolor II". and they finally left, for real.

best live performance ever. no beat, no note, no instrument and guitar chord were out of place. like as if you were listening to your MP3 player. just much louder, and more real. hardly can you find a live performance being so close to studio recordings. cos bands cant reach that high in live concerts. hats off to Coldplay! and managing to amass such an amazing Singapore crowd that just sung to every single word, including me!

my ear is feeling much better now. The thing about Coldplay is, many of their songs are made from repetitive piano tunes, yet Coldplay managed to capture the essence of such tunes, and blend it into a popular hit, which many bands have failed. Just check out "Clocks" and "The Scientists". What classics are these! now just waiting for the live concert CD to be out!

- If you love me, won't you let me know?
- How long must you wait for it?
- Home, home where I wanted to go.
- Cos for you i'd bleed myself dry.
- Save the nighttime for your weeping.
- You didn't get to heaven, but you made it close.
- And i'll try to fix you.
- God put a smile upon your face.
- You take a picture of something you see,
- your silver lining in the cloud.
- For some reason i can't explain,
- just because i'm hurting, doesn't mean i'm hurt.
- Without you it's a waste of time.
- Birds came flying from the underground,
- just open up your eyes!
- Dreaming of the Osaka Sun,
- I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge.
- Nobody said it was easy,
- now my feet won't touch the ground.

Nice.

this blog shall be shut down for a few months. yup. really. i find army life really boring. the fact tat im confined to office work only compounds this misery. yup. will be back when i find my life less of a bore.

tentatively closer to ord date. haha.

LISTENING TO MUSIC @ 1:42 PM

Monday, September 15

been a long time that i blogged. ppl have been asking me wad posting i get. ok la, its more of office work, sitting in some stupid office doing paperwork. and everyday is nights out. some ppl would love to get this job, but somehow i'm not that happy bout it. after all training to be a spec for so long would aspire you to lead and train men one day. but this very aspiration is crushed just like that. all thanks to one person. ruined everything when it mattered most. wad's the point of all the good performances and scores in the previous phases of training (aka BMT Sispec ETI). nvm la, at least now i'm mastering the art of office politics and dodging arrows. lastly, the best thing is.... (better dun say, later nsf chaps come bash me up).

so been exercising quite a bit during nightsout/nightsoff. haha. trying to keep fit so at least i still look like an army personnel.

and liverpool totally owned on saturday. invited johnnie and joshua over to watch. and after 4 minutes, i tot tat i made the wrong choice of inviting, just like the past few times when me and joshua would watch pool get thrashed. and honestly, when tevez scored i tot, sia la liverpool die gonna get thrashed. but somehow, the "man of the match" Wes brown came along and saved liverpool and gave us that bit of confidence. from den on, there was no looking back and basically overran and dominated manu. and somehow, every talk between us involved wes brown. haha. and a strange phenomenon is found. once u start scoring own goals, u cant stop! take titus bramble for another e.g.!

another 13 days to singapore grand prix. cant wait for it! cool stuff!

later.

depression for at least one month. thus. no posts for now. wait till i feel better. anyhow, terrible posting. bad image portrayed. terrible evaluation.

the word 'stubborn' was actually used to describe my character during evaluation. what a terrible evaluation.

enough said.

so long never blogged le. gonna pass out in 2 weeks time as a sgt! and one more tough week to go. the summary exercise which is meant to analyse the capabilites of us to lead as a team commander. not easy at all. just thinking bout the next 4 days is taunting enough. must endure! i still think our job's tough lo, wearing airtight suits, breathing thru oxygen tanks, going for mopp4 road marches and runs with gas masks are definitely not easy stuff. lastly to be able to think and lead well thru the toughest conditions and postures.

uni's starting soon for dar le. endure! dun stress yourself and always give ur best! no worries :)

supposed to have an outing with yr they all. for some strange reason zz wrote on his blog that his bunkmates kenna chickenpox, being him being civil-minded. haha. eventually scared yr till she din go for the outing. in the end, became an outing with guys (zz and ys). haha both of them gg for field camps. especially ys. good luck for jcc!

then watched mummy with khai and eugene. not very nice la. but army guys are a bunch of bored people. somehow just watching a movie (be it good or not) completes our weekend. after all we guys have no life at all! sitting down in an air-con hall w/o having to worrry bout meeting any timings, and being drawn away from the terrible (omg i cant even think of any good vocab word to describe. the degradation of the nsf brain) reality seems like a fun thing to do! anyhow eugene's gonna pass out the same time as me! and chatted and chatted after the movie.

and as time goes by in the army, i always think to myself. wad do i stand to gain from this 2 years? just serve and f*** off? i really dun noe. admittedly army has made guys mature much faster. and we see many more sides of people, be it selfish, selfless or whatever. and politics too. and i guess i have learnt how to handle ppl better? maybe. but i find myself having no drive and aim in life at all. in vs, i aimed to do well for O levels and for choir. in vj, to do well for A levels. but in the army? sad to say, i've totally no idea at all. and no vision for my life too. and i need to find it soon. or else, to put it in a blunt way, life seems to have no meaning.

later.

havent blogged for quite some time...

hmmm. actually honestly speaking, the course can be fun at times, and more stressful la. after all it indeed is a realistic threat, and chemical attacks in singapore is indeed a possibility. unlike the conventional war. like i was attempting to suan terence zz they all earlier on in the day, even though i can make it sound slack, but really it is not. being stuck in a confined space and suits, putting on a gas mask, thrown into many many theory tests and lectures, thousand and one equipments, dumped into gas chambers, the list goes on and on. its not that easy after all. but we aint overpaid that's for sure, terence. haha.

been spending ever so much. movies, games, meals, earphones etc. must start saving up le. havent saved much since enlisting.

watched red cliff with asik. honestly speaking, 150+ mins is far too long. and it's really draggy and draggy and..... zzzzz..... cos its more of a prelude to the sequel, which is the real battle itself (aka the great chibi battle). so i dun recommend it. but hancock is indeed much better (though i never like will smith, prob due to pursuit of happyness that made me sleep). haha. and i'll stuff ur ass up his ass, and stuff his ass up my ass. haha! and its an original story. watched that during nights out. and cos we got abandoned into a cs gas chamber earlier on in the day, some of us actually smelled tear gas at amk hub after the movie. haha. strange!

wanted's the best of all. haha. good plot and great actors. lol. a must watch. k la, here like some movie rating blog like that.

accidentally bumped into 2 of my bunkmates (in fact, the only 2 in our bunk that are attached) with their respective gfs this 2 days of the weekend. and somehow strangely, my bunkmates (some of them) dun believe that im attached. strange... wonder if they will ever read this though. haha.

i love friday nights! which nsf doesn't? unless they dun book out on fridays. like zz. haha. just kidding!

5 more days to bookout day! booking in now. later.

Friday, June 27

CBRD :) meaning chemical biological radiological defence. 39 SCE. haha. actually i wanted 36SCE, EOD, aka ppl that play with ordnance. but entering the course a few days makes me change my perception to thinking that being at 39 is actually better. and yes, more pay provided i successfully finish the course and not out-of-course. only the special 15+7 dudes from whole of sispec enter here, more prestige and pride than OCS ba, plus all the selection rounds that finally allow us into this special course. so many ppl wanna go, but cant. haha. k shall be more humble. generally happy and glad to be here. now just praying i can complete the course. even got written test on tues la! tsk.

seems like im destined for 3 movies in 2 days. later.

p.s. no treat for u zz, haha. ure an OCT ley!
p.p.s and maybe got treat for u dar. just maybe. haha.
