Flying to the Bahamas

Mr. Hunter and family recently braved the heat and humidity of July in the Bahamas.  Here's Mr. Hunter admiring the view on the flight out to New Providence Island.

We'd been flying for awhile when we saw this island.
It could be Bimini.

Here's some video of when we were flying over the northeastern section of Andros Island.  I love the blues and blue-greens.

We were on a prop plane,
and the camera gave the propellers a notable look.

The Peguche Waterfall

On the second day of our tour, we hiked up to the Peguche waterfall
an indigenous ceremonial site used for ritual baths before the Inti Raymi summer solstice festival.

We stopped to admire the view
as we hiked down to the Peguche village.

Walking on the muddy path near the waterfall.

Mr. Hunter poses in front of the higher bridge.

People I Have Asked: Random Scuba Diver

There we were on the shores of Lake Tahoe in snowy February.  And then a group of scuba divers emerged from the water.  Random!  So Mr. Hunter asked if one of the divers would pose with him.

Jellies

Mr. Hunter would like to go on record as saying that he prefers his jellyfish when they're safely behind glass and floating dreamily in a dim aquarium.

Vacances à Ixtapa

Flat Mr. Hunter (aka Monsieur Hunter) vacationed in Mexico this spring.  A Mr. Hunter first!
The lovely Helene gave him a taste of resort life in Ixtapa.

Travels with Steve: Singapore's Merlion

2008 was a good year for flat friends of Mr. Hunter and Merlions in Singapore.  First, Ghetto Mr. Hunter posed with Merlions big and small when he visited Singapore with Teresa.  A few months later, Steve brought his Flat Mr. Hunter to see the original Merlion.

Flat Mr. Hunter on Lake Erie

That's the reactor at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.

It seems appropriate that the sky is glowing.

The Ray

At the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you can climb into a section underneath one of the displays and watch the sea creatures swim past.

In these photos, Mr. Hunter and a blissed-out Kerry smile and say "Hello" to a ray as it glides along above them.

Where in the world is Mr. Hunter?

This island (and state park) somewhere in the United States is named for a particular kind of creature that lives there.  The island is NOT called Gnat Island, although biting gnats are one nasty creature that you might encounter here at certain times of the year.

Where might Mr. Hunter be?

See the answer here.

Roman Landmarks: The Spanish Steps

On a typically scorching and steamy summer day in Rome,
Mr. Hunter and his companions walked over to the Spanish Steps.
(Too bad about the scaffolding in front of the Trinita dei Monti church.)

At the base of the Spanish Steps, there's a handy fountain
called Fontana della Barcaccia ("Fountain of the Old Boat").  We were all quite hot and sweaty and thirsty by the time we reached the Piazza di Spagna. It was a blessing to be able to cool our feet off in the fountain and to fill our water bottles from the fountain's cold, fresh stream of water.
Even Mr. Hunter wanted to take a sip!

View from the top of the Spanish Steps.

That dome to the right belongs to the basilica called San Carlo al Corso.  The building just to the left of the steps is where John Keats lived and died.  It's now the Keats-Shelley Memorial House.
