Adoption Update - August 2015

Adoption Update – August 2015

The summer of 2015 was a bit crazy…

…but we made it through and are very excited about the fall. Here is a quick update about what’s been going on.

Early this spring we decided it would be best for our family to move to another side of town. We loved our house and the neighborhood we lived in but weren’t so sure about the school we were zoned for. We also wanted to be closer to all the things that we do often (church, work, friends, etc.). Well, after a long process of trying to find a house and sell or rent ours, it all worked out and we moved during the first week of August. While all this was going on, we were also finishing all our adoption paperwork. Those two big things plus working, doing fun things with the kids, and keeping the house clean for showings made for a crazy summer. It was crazy but it was also so good. We have been impacted greatly by God’s faithfulness to us. There was more than a few times where we couldn’t see how everything was going to work out. But it did and we felt God’s love in many ways: through the actions and prayers of our friends and family, through the encouragement of His Word, and through the random things that just seemed to work out. We are really excited (and a bit nervous) about the fall.

One of the big accomplishments of the summer was completing our adoption paperwork and birthmother book. We completed our home study in late June and completed our birthmother book in the middle of July. Which means…WE ARE MATCH READY!!! Crazy.  From this point on, we don’t have a timetable (which makes the waiting and planning even harder) but are confident in God’s good plan for us.  We have a room at the new house with a rocker and a crib just waiting for when baby brother or sister joins our family. We are all very excited. Here are a few ways you can continue to support us (and adoption):
·      Pray
o   For our family:
§  To navigate this season of waiting well.
§  To prepare all of our hearts for this new baby and the changes that he/she will bring.
§  That we will love the birthmother well.
o   For the birthmother:
§  Confidence that she made the right choice in choosing life and not terminating the pregnancy.
§  For support with all the emotions involved.
§  That she will know the love Christ has for her and she will experience freedom and joy in Jesus.
§  A healthy pregnancy and birth.
·      Give
We have fundraised/saved for about 1/3rd of our expenses thus far and we are planning some additional fundraisers. If you’d like to support us financially, here are a few ways:
o   Adoption Bridge (501c3 compliant):
§  Our adoption agency (Nightlight Christian Adoptions) has a crowdfunding platform called Adoption Bridge. Our profile is here: http://adoptionbridge.org/families/mosier-family-adoption/
o   Our church (Providence Road – 501c3 compliant):
§  Address: 1320 W. Lindsey St., Norman, OK 73069
§  Put “Mosier Adoption” in the memo line
o   Direct to us (email/text for our address)
·      Consider Foster Care/Adoption
One of the biggest things you can do to show your support for us is to consider foster care and/or adoption for your family. There are many different ways to pursue foster care/adoption and there are a lot of resources out there to help with that decision. Here are just a few:
o   Christian Alliance for Orphans
o   Lifesong for Orphans
o   Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption

2014: Week 7

Shanae and I took our boys to dinner and the Lego movie for a belated Valentine's date.  Not the best movie we've seen but the boys had a blast.

 More beautiful afternoons outside!

'Helping' Daddy clean out the garage
I had the amazing privilege to get away for the weekend with these special friends.  We attended the Mom Heart conference in Dallas and it was awesome! Love, love, love these sweet friends. It was such a good time of rest and encouragement. Matt and the kids held down the fort here.

2014:Week 6

Our parents came for the weekend to celebrate Cade's birthday.  We had a great time celebrating the big 5 year old.  They were also able to see him play basketball while they were here and help him set up his new Lego police station.  Cade and Poppie snuck away to watch the Sooners and the Bears play a little basketball.
The Lego police station that they worked so hard to build all weekend. Cade was so excited about this, he had been asking for this set for months!
And then this is what the police station looked like Monday morning....
Being silly while we wait for Daddy to come home from work.
Carter and I went to Cade's school valentine party.  Cade was so excited to have his little brother there and took great care of him and showed him around.  Such a sweet big brother.  They really do love each other.

We had several beautiful days after all the cold weather the previous week.  We soaked up as much outside time as possible!  Cade was back in his happy place.

On Valentine's day the kids and I delivered valentine treats to our friends then had a little lunch date at Chick Fil A.  Poor Cambrie Mae wasn't feeling the greatest this day. Teething was getting the best of her.
That night our sweet friend Tricia offered to watch our kids so we went on a double date with our good friends, the Hagers.
Such a full but fun week!!

2014: Week 5

We started off the week celebrating Cade's birthday!!  He loves his birthday and we had a fun day of celebrating along with a basketball game.
This week brought lots of snow!  Here was the first snow of the week of about 3 inches.  The neighborhood friends built their own version of Olaf.
Super bowl Sunday = super cute little friends hanging out.  These two are hilarious together!
We took advantage of the snow and made real life snow cones.  Cade loved the snow and would play out in for hours if I let him!
Our neighborhood during the first snow of the week
On Tuesday I got to go to Cade's school to his birthday celebration.  They were having a snow ball fight right as I got there.  How fun is that?!
Birthday boy, birthday crown and his little friend.  Cade choose to take Cheese Its and snicker doodle cookies as his birthday snack

I started this new book this week.  It's hilarious and a fun read on marriage.
By Thursday we were all tired of the snow and cold.....when will it be warm again?? It snowed about another inch this day and the lows were in the single digits!
This pretty much sums up all we all felt by Friday.  Cambrie Mae had been struck with a stomach bug, we'd all been stuck inside all week and no sunshine in sight.

FIVE

FIVE.  My baby is five.  Deep breath. You are five, transforming out of the toddler/preschool years right before my eyes.  You've grown up so much in the past year.  You have such a fun personality and I love spending time with you.
Cade, you are so fun, smart, inquisitive, persistent, caring, passionate, thoughtful and brave.  I pray that God will continue to develop these qualities in you and use them for good.  You love to work with your hands.  You're always building or creating something out of whatever is in front of you.  I love this.  One of my favorite things to do with you  (besides going to get ice cream, of course) is to cook with you.  You are such a big helper in the kitchen.  You've even made started to make your own sandwiches, toast and other snacks.  I love seeing you become more independent even though it means you need me just a little bit less.
You love to be outside no matter what the temperature.  That's your favorite environment to learn.  Basketball has also been an old but new favorite for you right now.  You are a rocking basketball player and have had a great season so far.
For your birthday this year you wanted a Star Wars party since Daddy told you when you were 5 you could watch it for the first time. We just had a few of your little friends over for hot dogs and cake.  You guys had a blast! I'm so thankful for the friends God has provided you with here.

Our gift to you this year was a surprise trip to Great Wolf Lodge!  Your "favorite place in the whole world!" We surprised you and Carter when we picked you up from school.  Cambrie Mae stayed here, it was just a trip for the big kids.  You guys had a blast!!  I'm so thankful we chose to do this.  Such a fun time!!

2014: Week 4

Month one of 2014 has gone and while it feels like it was a long month it's still hard for me to watch the calendar keep on turning.  My baby turned FIVE this weekend.  Five, it just sounds so old.  Anyway here is what we were up to during week 4 of 2014...

This girl is into EVERYTHING these days.  She's a mover and a climber.  Not sure I'm ready for her to walk.  She was quite proud of herself for helping her brother pull out all the movies and then proceed to stand in the baskets.
Because I like to move furniture around every few months and we've lived in our house for 2 years this month I thought it was time for a change for the extra space next to the kitchen.  I'm loving our new little reading area.
Basketball game 2.  This kid is a baller.
A little Incredibles before church while Mommy gets ready.  Cade had gone early with Matt to help set up.
FaceTime fun with our sweet friends who moved to Houston. These buddies share birthday weeks and were wishing each other a happy birthday!
 Mixing gatorade 'drinks'
A little Braums treat with Mommy before we went to get birthday supplies.
Morning magnet fun during kitchen clean up time
Cambrie Mae spent her first night away from us.  She had a blast and was in the good hands of our awesome friends Jeremy and Nicole.
The biggest surprise/event of the week/year was a trip to Great Wolf to celebrate 5 years of Cade.  The boys had a blast!  It was so fun surprising him and spending some quality time with the boys.  Carter had a blast too.
