With as busy as our fall was, I started threatening to rent children to take to Center Grove with me, but somehow we managed to get there on a glorious day in October! We had a Monday off from school and as soon as Noah's well child visit was cut short by the fire alarms going off (just as he was about to get a round of shots!) we headed up for some of our favorite fall fun!
It was a cold morning- perfect for hot apple cider, hats and gloves (of which we lost many throughout the day), and lots of running around for warmth!
Our original plan was to spend the entire day there, with the exception of Adam who had to be at show choir practice in the middle of the day, but once we got back to our warm and cozy house, this girl decided to take a three hour nap. The story of a mother's life is that she is always waiting for her babies to wake up.
It was quite nice to have a rest in the middle of the day!
While Leah slept on, Emma, Noah and I decided to head back up and let the big kids join us with Daddy when they were all ready. We started our afternoon at Storybook Village!
The new bucking broncos were hilarious. I've never laughed so hard in my life as I did while Emma tried to shove me up onto one of them.
Finally, a bit later than expected, the other three returned and we all headed out to the corn maze! Like so many traditions that we are trying to honor this year, there was an extra weight to this 'one last time'. It felt extra sweet to all be together on the hay ride one more time.
I could have sworn this was just last year, but the first time we went to CGO 10 years ago we all looked like this-
We have made so many sweet memories here over the years! It felt so good to make a few more.
We were definitely chasing daylight by this point and had to chose between the pumpkin patch and the corn maze. The corn maze won!
And then we picked out pumpkins in record time back at the barn. No square pumpkins this year!
We shut the place down - we wanted to eek every minute of fun that we could out of our (possibly) last all-together trip to Center Grove! Pumpkins, all the rides we could fit in, apple cider, caramels, peanut butter, donuts, honey crisp apples, Wee Sing for Halloween on the way up and Spookley the Square Pumpkin on the way home - this day was the perfect final adventure for this party of six!
