Our trip started with a flight to LA on a Sat morn. From there we found our way to the LA Harbor and embarked on the Norwegian Star for the adventure of a lifetime--well at least for the month of November. When we left LA Harbor, we sailed for a day and a half and on Monday we arrived at Cabo San Lucas. We got off the ship and went on a walking tour of Cabo, but first we were overtaken by all of the 'salesmen' in the form of small children with gum or turtle whistles, and also people who would stick live iguanas on your head--ask Kaci she can tell you all about that. Well to the walking tour, it was very slow and not very interesting, "but let me tell you somesing ladies and gentlemen"(this is the phrase that our tour guide said over and over)--in the end we did get free chips and salsa, I guess that was worth enduring!!!
The next day, we arrived at Mazatlan, where we had arranged to take a tour to hike to a lighthouse. I quite liked this, it was different from just hanging out on the beach. We got to see a different side of Mazatlan, the flora and fauna. We saw wild iguanas, and cactus trees--well I thought it was neat. Anyway, at the top was a pretty view of Mazatlan. We started the hike at about 8:15am and by the time we were out of the truck that took us to the start of our hike, we were already sweating, which made for a very wet and sticky hike, but like I said earlier, worth it. After we finished the hike, we went back to the port and did some shopping in the flea market. We sailed through the night and arrived at Puerto Vallarta the next morning. Our view from the ship was--go figure WALMART and Sams Club. --Wow--
Well from there, we were ferried on a little boat to an office building where we were given a bottle of water and our last chance for a potty break for a while. Then they loaded 14 of us into the back of a old army truck with very squeeky breaks. Luckily it did have seats and more importantly seat belts on each side of the truck bed. We were hauled for about an hour to a more lush and jungly area, where a wonderful canopy adventure awaited us. 19 ziplines, 2 rapells and a really long, high rope ladder to climb. We had a blast!! Kaci made it through with only a few tears, Matt was the hero, the first one in the whole group to jump onto the zipline and go. Lee felt he couldn't let Kaci show him up, so he dove in and about took out one of our guides (love ya papa grande). And for me, well that was just pure sweetness, I love adventure like that (as long as it is out of the water).
The next 2 days were sweet relaxation on the boat on our journey back to LA. The part that I hated the most was that the closer we got to LA the colder it got :(
Once in LA we did another excursion because our flight didn't leave until about 5pm. This excursion was a tour of the LA, Beverly Hills area. That was alot of fun too. We stopped on Hollywood Blvd and saw some of the stars on the sidewalk. We walked up and down Rodeo Drive--but didn't dare enter any of the stores.
In the end, the tour bus dropped us off at the LA Airport and we flew home to see our puppy, who was almost as happy to see us as we were to see her.
If you made it through all of this mumbo jumbo, and have reached this point, I thank you for reading my first post!
