My kids are at an overnight excursion to "the farm" in Comfort with Dahdo/Pam and I have the Olympics on in the background...and I'm wrapping up some fun to-do's (aka the blog) before school starts in a few days.
So, random pictures from summer. And in true summer fashion - they're lazily out of order. :)
Maggie - all wet after Emmy's baptism. Maggie passed out after a pool.
A highlight of our summer has been Miss Kate staying with us. She is a friend from church who moved into our guestroom in June and plans to stay until December - she's building a house and it wasn't ready when her landlord sold the house she had rented for several years. She works at our church, is an Aggie, and basically all of our new favorite person. Especially Maggie's.
Snuggle Buddies.

Reading buddies.
Aaaaand more snuggling.
Jumping back a few months - I got to go to The Gospel Coalition's Women's Conference in Indianapolis with a bunch of girls from church - somehow we didn't get a single pic together, but I did run into this sweet gal - Anna is married to one of Kyle's best friends - Dan - from college. They live outside Denver and in a room of 7000 women she spotted me a few isles over! So fun!
It was a great weekend all around - GREAT teaching, including a session by our campus's very own Laura Powell. Plus John and Noelle Piper, DA Carson, Jen Wilkins, Kathleen Nielson, etc. And a great time with the other Austin Stone gals.

This really should get its own post but its summer and I'm eeking out the last bit of lazines before the school routine sets in so....
CARLOS GOT MARRIED!
Yes, Uncle Carlos, our first and most frequent houseguest, tied the knot to beautiful Bronwyn Kaye from South Africa. Everything came together in a matter of weeks including me doing the flowers for her bouquet, her mom and sister's and a couple of boutonnieres.
It was a small, beautiful ceremony in the rotunda of the Texas Capital.

The kids, though they love Uncle Carlos, are still age the age when weddings are boring. ;)
No pics of this but the day after the wedding Carlos and Bronwyn rented a couple of boats out on Lake Travis and invited everyone to join in. I had to head to Lubbock for my uncle's funeral but Kyle took Owen and Rebecca and I'm told they had such a great time Kyle wants to rent a boat for a day sometime next summer.
Okay, these are the types of random selfies I find on my phone thanks to Owen.

He thinks he's sooooooo funny but SOME DAY THESE WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT HIM.
And then there's this girl...who has perfected a scowl-faced, arms-crossed, foot-tapping pout. She was actually just pretending here...but you get the idea.
When its a billion degrees and you don't want to go to the pool...you go bowling! We've gone a couple of times this summer. Rebecca is right at home.
We have played with Bee, Kate and Katie and kids. Bee and I have both played in bowling shoes without socks. Definitely a summer highlight for me.
During the first "camp week" of the summer when the kids were joyfully out of my house during a good portion of each day for 5 days (wahoooooo!!!) - mom and I tackled some seemingly simple but of-course-bigger-than-we-expected yard projects. Apparently I can't just live in my house for three years and do nothing but run the automatic sprinkler system and expect everything to look great. Huh.
Now waaaaaaaay back to the unbeatable Brykerwoods neighborhood Fourth of July parade = big neighborhood walk/bike ride with a total of 10 onlookers.
I walked alongside Maggie. Owen and Rebecca rode bikes and Bee joined in and rode my bike.
But Rebecca's had a too-many-decorations-malfunction so ended up jumping on with Bee. They fell once but it was in slow-mo and the scraping was minimal. The Rebeccas are troopers.
My part time job at the church is definitely less busy during the summer but with the kids not in school they have to run around with me more - they are such good sports. Here they are playing in a chair they built at the ministry center.
Rebecca has a "thing" for little cousin Beau. She actually has a thing for all babies, most mostly little boys, and mostly Beau. She had a sleepover at Nanas and what she wanted most in her time there was to have Beau come over so she could "babysit" him.
Maybe the big kids best week of the summer - Pine Cove Camp in the City! Here they are o the first day at drop-off: Oliver (our neighbor bestie), Rebecca and Owen. Can't wait for Maggie to get to go in a summer or two, and for O & R to decide they're ready for overnight!
Carpooling home on the last day - 6 kids because Maggie was with...well, I can't remember, but she was safely not with us. Owen, Nathan, Oliver, Rebecca, Micah, Roman.
Rebecca delivering meals on wheels with Nana.
Other summer fun without pictures. Lots of pool time - Rebecca and Owen are totally on auto pilot and Maggie is SO much better this summer! She even went off of the diving board at the Other Mezger's neighborhood pool (with me treading in the deep end to help her to the side) - this is HUGE considering she wouldn't even let go of me in the pool last summer.
Bee and I took the kids to Hawaiian Falls last week - a newish waterpark in Pluggerville (Austin suburb). We had SO.MUCH.FUN. The place is just small enough to be manageable, just big enough to have a LOT of fun. One set of regular slides, one set of tub slides, one super-fun wave pool, a (boring, no shade) lazy river. But seriously, we had so much fun. Will definitely go back next year, right Bee?
Alright, its late. That's it for now.
