Random Crap

So I feel as though I should post, because hardly anybody else is. I'm going to keep the blog dream ALIVE! Surely on some far off future date my kids will want to read this and be embarrassed that I posted pictures of them naked right? It's good for them. Builds character. So yeah...here is the random crap that has happened since Nick and Eric's birthday!

We like to take the kids out for special time with us around their birthday and this year we took Nick and Eric to the mall food court for dinner and toTrafalga for mini-golfing!

They had a blast and maybe we didn't return our golf balls?? They are a fun little keepsake now!

Ryan and I were spending some quality time together on a weekend not long ago and all the kids were hanging out at Grandma & Grandpa's house. Just as we arrived home Annette called me to tell me that Eric had climbed into a rubbermaid bin and Nick had pushed him in it, down the stairs. This is a quote from Eric, "It was fine and really fast until I hit the bottom!" We have a feeling that Nick had this grand idea, but Eric was the more willing of the two to try it. Seriously...on their own nothing bad would ever happen...they all just feed off one another's ideas. Eric insisted that it was, "NOT BROKEN!! I DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE HOBSTIBBLE!" We took him to the ER and after an x-ray that showed it was clearly broken he got a splint and a few days later a cast. He really wanted a green one, but they only had red. It's been signed by several people, but he really wanted it to say, "I'm Eric and this is my cast that I got from the doctor." I thought that most people would figure that out though. He gets his cast off at the end of the week! Hooray! (It smells horrible...HORRIBLE.)

Not long after this we took a trip to Idaho. My parents were heading out there to see my brother Brandon, and so we all met up. We were only  their a couple days, but we got to stay in a sweet cabin, see the Snake River Canyon, and the kids got to play on a merry go round A LOT.

After we returned we had a fun day at Ikea and we headed into downtown SLC so Ally could go to a certain store. Outside the store there was like...I don't know a hallway? An outdoor hallway between businesses and of course it echoed a lot and my kids had to run up and down it shrieking and yelling ECHO! ECHO! Which was fine with me, but apparently none of the business owners. Some people just have so sense of a child's wonderment. Boo.

My parents came to Utah for a couple days after Idaho. We made a few trips through the canyon and saw some fantastic fall colors.

That is pretty much that. We haven't been up to much since then due to Ryan and I being incredibly sick. Some how the kids have not been terribly effected by it. Some sniffles and coughs here and there, Eric got a double ear infection and burst one of his eardrums, but he has handled it pretty well. So yeah, I think we are all getting better little by little and then things will be great!

Five!

It's happened! We have two five year olds in our house! (It is weird.) I think this should count as me putting in 10 years of work. Twins are tough, yo. Anywho, they had an AWESOME birthday! They made cool birthday crowns at school, brought home blue playdough, and shot off rockets in class that day. This was obviously a little overwhelming because as soon as I got there to pick them up Nick started crying. Apparently they had said they would play with the playdough and then got too busy (they should know by now that you can't make a promise and not deliver with little kids, they NEVER forget...especially about playdough) and decided not to get it out that day. He was inconsolable until we got home where we gave him a cupcake! Yay! Liam and I made cupcakes and he made them a card. It was adorable.

They just woke up...and they were five!
Nicholas is crying and trying to smile.
That afternoon we went to the duck pond and we had lots of fun and adventures.

They had a check up on Friday. Nick was  44lbs and 45.5 inches tall! (He is a giant.) Eric was 46lbs and 43.5 inches tall. (He is almost a giant!) They had to do some blood tests for school, they couldn't get Nick's vein, but he was a trooper and let them stick him 2 times and didn't cry until after they were already done, Eric totally surprised me and held perfectly still and watched the needle go in and said, "Wow! That didn't even hurt!" For those who know the emotions of that child you know that was like...a miracle.
We had the party on Saturday and we went all out his year with our theme of Curious George (which was hard to nail down, little kids are very indecisive) and for the first time in a while we did not make the cake. The decorations turned out totally cute though and the food was good. The big gift this year was bikes. FINALLY, I have been wanting to get them bikes for forever! This afternoon they got a little more practice in and Eric has especially taken to it. Nick is the more nervous/cautious of the two and has been having the more difficult experience. He wrecked today and scraped up his knee, and I was worried because he dramatically stated, "I don't want to ever ride a bike NEVER AGAIN!" With big tears rolling down his face. Luckily though, he later did come back outside and try again for a little bit. Anyway, it was a good weekend and birthday, yeah!

Uncle Thayne brought his drums with him...it was a pretty big highlight as you might imagine.

I can't believe they are so big! (I know everybody says that, but seriously, I have 5 year olds! Weird!)

End of Summer Adventures

Adventure: Bridal Veil Falls

This is when Eric picked up a rock and threw it...and then it Nick in the shins. Ow.

Adventure: Museum of Ancient Life

We went on $2 Tuesday and there were a LOT of people there. It was a little crazy, but overall was a good experience.
They had an exhibit about sound and this was a booth that you walked through on gravel. The goal was to make as little noise as possible. Nick did the best. He's pretty much a ninja.

 Bat ears!
 A Supersaurus!

Rawr. Eric's a dinosaur. I think it looks more like a bug costume...but whatever.

 Yeah...that is Nick. Fo' sho'.
Adventure: Lindon Pool (Eric says Linda Pool, maybe it has an "e" at the end and she is the nice normal sister of Grace Poole?)

We had a fantastic time! We let the kids take our pictures, I don't think they did too bad. I got my least horrid sunburn, and probably my last of the year. I'm looking brown this year...except on my horrible white pasty albino legs. I'll take it!

Nick and Eric's New Adventure: PRESCHOOL!!!!

They had their first day today! I was glad I looked at the calendar this morning because I did that thing where I said to myself, "They start on Friday." Then I didn't even think about it, so today the kids were asking when school was starting so I pointed to the calendar and said, "You start tomorrow...wait...YOU START TODAY!" It went very well, I was welcomed to stay for the whole class time, but they were not interested in my hanging out at all. They were far to busy playing, and eating, and crafting to care about me. Which was totally fine. I stuck around for lunch and to help Eric with a painting project and then I hit the road. They had a total blast and they are excited for more!

They are getting so big, and they are just so dang smart! They have their birthday in 2 weeks and they will be big bad 5 year olds, which is just crazygonuts!

So that's what we have been up to. Check ya later!
