Family Pictures

While I realize I still need to blog about Disneyland and our California Road Trip from this summer, I am pausing to share our most recent family pictures that were taken by our friend and owner of Little Lamb Photography.

Mason's Baptism

Mason asked Jesus into his heart April 13, 2013 but we weren't able to schedule his baptism until May 19, 2013. Unfortunately, the week leading up to the baptism, Peyton and Taylor both had Hand Foot and Mouth Disease. Peyton had a very severe case. Since both were still contagious, we weren't able to bring them up to the church. This greatly disappointed me, as I really wanted the whole family to be there. Thankfully, my mom watched the girls but had to miss the baptism.

Mason was so excited the morning of the baptism. Our church has a beautiful prayer garden and baptism pool in the garden. The weather was perfect, although very hot. We laughed, we cried and welcomed Mason into our family as brother in Christ.

Kindergarten Graduation

Mason's first year of school couldn't have gone better. I was so nervous sending my boy off to school from 8am to 3:40pm each day (that is a long time to be away from me), but I prayed that God would give him the right teacher. God went above and beyond with Mason's teacher. Mrs. Ryser set the perfect foundation for his education.

For the last few days of school, Mason had an awards ceremony where he was given the Panther of the Month award. Adam and I were able to surprise him at his school and he was so excited. Adam and I are so proud of him! He always was given the Honesty Award. Each year, the school teaches the kids character traits and I personally love that Mason received this award. He knows that he can always tell the truth and I pray that is a character trait that continues.

The girls and I also joined him for a picnic with the rest of the Kindergarten students. That is a wrap for his first year.

Easter 2013

So I realize that I haven't updated my blog since April. We have been very busy and honestly, I just let blogging slide. So I will do my best to catch up through several posts. Mostly it will be pictures.

Easter was a busy weekend at our house. I sang with our church choir in all 5 of our Easter Services this year. We had two on Saturday and three on Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed it but definitely was exhausted by the time the weekend was over.

My favorite moment of Easter happened on the Wednesday night before Easter. We headed up to our  church Wednesday evening for our normal church activities. At the front of the church are three crosses to symbolize Easter. As I was getting Peyton out of the car, I looked over and Mason was explaining what the crosses meant to Taylor. They were sitting on the grass and holding hands. I instantly got my phone to take a picture because it was too sweet not to miss.

Brother in Christ

We didn't have anything really exciting planned this weekend. Friday night I surprised Adam with dinner out to Good Ole Boy's here in Katy. It's a whole-in-the-wall Texas Country restaurant. Most of the seating is outside, which is perfect this time of the year. Adam & I have been itching to have some crawfish for awhile and have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be going back.

Saturday the weather was gorgeous and our yard was needing a little TLC. So while Adam worked on the yard, I took the kids to Katy Summerfest. We walked around and enjoyed free samples and booths. The day sounds lovely, but it was a really rough day. Mason was overly emotional, which usually means he is tired. Everything was a battle and I was worn down.

Every night, I ask Mason his favorite part of the day and the saddest part of the day. We both agreed that our saddest part of the day was him not listening and obeying me. Despite all the hard moments, it did provide a lot of teachable moments that I tried to take advantage of. As we talked about the day, Mason led into a conversation about God and Jesus. We have many conversations about faith and with Easter passing a few weeks ago, he was able to really learn a lot. The next thing I knew, he told me he was ready to pray for Jesus to coming into his heart. I didn't see this coming, only because we had such a hard day. I asked him what it meant and if he had any questions. He was taking the lead and knew exactly what he was doing.

As we prayed, tears ran down my face. I had been praying for this day since before he was born. The rest of the evening, I was crying happy tears. We will meet with our children's minister soon and then we will decide when he will be baptized. God is good all the time! It was the perfect ending to the day.
